it's insane to me that he doesn't see that the reason women never liked him.. is because of his disgusting personality, melodrama, self loathing, misogyny and attitude overall.
People like this tend to lack self-awareness.
It’s very interesting that people at every step of his life have been telling him to change his attitude. From his parents (though many people dismiss their parents’ critique), to 4chan, to Gaia, to Mike Z, to people on UA-cam and Reddit and real life. People who have a good attitude are easier to talk with and be in the presence of. Only people who dislike them are other miserable people. But even then, at my most miserable, I wouldn’t want to be around Alex since he always plays the victim card and only cares for himself.

Incels are like a flock of razing sheep, surrounded by predatory grifters ranging from the parasitic grift of Jordan Peterson, to the gluttonous ravishing style of Andrew Tate.
They start out semi self-aware, and probably most of them think they're doing something wrong, or something is wrong with them. That's when the predators swoop in and convince them that it's not actually their fault, but in fact it's society, and especially women who are the root cause of all of their woes.
The incel misogyny is basically the result of them having derived their entire self-worth off of the notion that they are "a poor victim" and yet they are one of a select few who know that society is the problem (aka Tate's whole matrix BS). The incel thing is just a bunch of sad guys who are scared to face the fact that, if you want to change your fortune (especially in the romance department), you just have to put some effort in

He was disappointed to get a prototyping job, something much more broad and freeform than animating that most people who want to be game devs fulltime would have desired. YanSim started from a thread directly begging the boards what they would give him attention for. His main concern talking to MikeZ was getting complimented. Like he bemoaned himself: all he really wanted to do was watch anime.
You won't find anyone. It's all down to luck if you do that, either dependent on work or hobby space you are in or on your family circle, and that's not in any way a solid advice for people who are bad at socializing for precisely their social circles reasons

The way he talks about women in his EvaXephon days is fascinating. He really doesn’t see us as individuals, just vessels through which to realize his fantasies. And physical intimacy is just a set of game achievements and not a method of connection with another person. I’m sure he still thinks this way, he’s just slightly less obvious.

Society places a lot of pride and value on being in a relationship. Being single and never marrying/having kids or sleeping around is derided as you being a loser. Often this is driven by our biological urges to form relationships.
Almost every piece of media ever made involves romance, you are near universally shamed for being single and/or a virgin, almost every person’s mind is wired to seek a relationship. Need more programmers? Hire more programmers. Curb your ego, and learn humility.
Want your game to be good? Stop standing by for validation, and listen to feedback. You only learn through failure.

@@pigeonleader if you're even slightly curious about game development, I highly recommend Pirate Software's videos and yt shorts. dude makes getting into game dev really easy, the community has so many good resources and friendly people who love to encourage new devs (the channel is also just really good with motivation for any creative medium, dude knows how to hype you up and take those first few steps into the passion projects you've always dreamed of)

@@TheGamer2001 honestly at least Hello Neighbor has (ignoring the pilot) a pretty engaging TV series and was _good_ in its alpha build. I can't really point anywhere in yansim that was like that, espically since there's clones on app stores with more going on.
The only Credit i can give the creator of Hello Neighbor is that he did finish his game although the other two where meh he didn't went that long like yandereDev....
Quitting that game design job was a crucial mistake. Game design is what he's good at. Not programming, not modeling, not animating- game design. Whether it's due to narcissism, poor social skills, or some other personal failure, he just couldn't accept that game design was his calling. He chose to burn bridges and tout himself in every category instead. Now, he's practically unhireable. I wouldn't be surprised if all major and most intermediate game dev studios have him blacklisted.
Alex probably isn't reading this, but in case he is: Dude, get off the internet. Go to therapy. Learn how to socialize. Learn how to admit fault. Learn how to grow and change. It won't get you back into the games industry, but it should enable you to get some form of reliable income. And for the love of fck, *quit trying to get a romantic/sexual partner.* I'm not saying it's impossible, but trying this goddamn hard is the exact problem. You make friends first. You speak to people *as people* first. You make yourself known as a decent person first. Relationships won't thrive if they're forced. In time, if it's in your cards, the right person will stumble into your life. And if there is no right person for you, you pick a hobby and stick to your inanimate objects. Having a partner is NOT a prerequisite for humanity, and you need to quit hinging your existence on that.

His original job was quality testing which - bug testing. It does explain why he focused on such insignificant updates that derailed the overall development of Yandere Simulator. It shows a lack of big picture thinking, and poor time management and delegation.
Can't design, can't project manage, but can address the bug reports that he doesn't tear to shreds 🙃
Someone should make a Yandere Dev Simulator, the premise of which is where you play as a shut-in who has to solo-develop a terrible anime game, whilst fending off attacks on social media, buyout offers from companies, and interest from the authorities. There could be multiple endings, the true ending of course being total failure.

Even then, Cuphead has the greatest excuse to come out late, and even then we got a masterpiece that couldn’t be rushed. And the creators put there all in it, even at the cost of their home.
Yansim had _premade_ character models and object, collision program that just needed to get downloaded. And Alex self-sabotaged himself (i.e. Turning down Tiny Build, complaining about emails, insulting his audience, and dilly-dallying).
This + Scott Cawthon creating an entire video game empire (I feel like Osana could've been finished by the 3rd fnaf game) + Omori + Toby Fox Undertale, Deltarune + ConcernedApe Stardew Valley (only took 4 years) and a whole bunch of other indie games.
One thing we all have to remember is that while our lives were continuing on, Alex is staying in the same place. Years go by and Alex will be in the same place. It's the same with NEETs/Hikikomoris, but I have more sympathy for them than for Alex.

What's sad and funny is that this dude could have made a funny little game that was basically just Hitman but with anime girls by year three, cut out all the nonsense lore and over-the-top features and likely already be working on the third game in the series with a few programers working with him and a publisher where he could have all the features he wanted. Don’t worry dudes, I was thinking over this subject very much in late teens and came to a conclusion that seeking relationship with a single goal of relationship is the epitome of idiocy. I have met soo many people in college (especially girls!) who seemed to see their value only if they’re in a relationship. The moment they broke up they immediately go find someone else and be extremely lovey-dovey, but in those in-between moments they’d be miserable. It's very easy to ignore emails instead of replying to them. I ignore most of mine all the time.
When YandereDev turned down Tiny Build that was the beginning of the end. What a truly awful decision that was. His game was a buggy mess and frankly he isn’t a good enough coder to fix it. So, in came a company willing to overhaul his code, let him keep full ownership of the game as well as total creative control. A miraculous deal; yet he turned them away.
If YandereDev had an ounce of humility and was able to admit his code needed overhauling, chances are the game would’ve been finished by now and he would’ve raked in a ton of money with little effort.
Ironically, he got what he deserved in the end. A dying game, his VAs leaving the project and a rightfully ruined reputation.
As a female shut in, I was groomed, abused, and forced to do things like take naked pictures of myself for 2 years. From the age of 13 to the age of 15. Not only did I have a psychopath like Yandere Dev threatening me that he would kill me and himself if I didn't do what he said, but my family found out and treated me like a "dirty little girl" instead of supporting me. My friends in high school (Freshmen year) are who helped me get away from him. To this day I don't know his real name or age. Stuff like this happens daily. Yandere Dev just had a platform that made it easier to be a predator and by extension exposed. We have to remember that these people are victims. Forced into situations where they think they have to obey. It's sick and disgusting. Don't blame the victims. Help them get out.
I hope you can recover from this. I hate how it's always the girls', the women's fault. We are made whole the moment we were born.

While it's hard to nail down the exact why, it's almost certainly related to the fact that he is designing the game for himself and not for other players. His game is set up like a sandboxy game, but obstacles are not handled as obstacles, they are handled as locks you open with Yandere Dew approved keys. For example, Raibaru is an obstacle that you can eliminate or bypass using certain methods he purposefully implemented, but other methods he often try to patch out when they are discovered. He doesn't want the players to play his game the way they want to, he wants them the play it how he intended. With that in mind, advice comes of as useless to him. You can give a man advice on how to make his game better, but it's hard to advice someone on how to better railroad the players into playing as he intends because you can't read his mind. Yandere Dew won't take advice since his goal isn't a great game.

Its very common with social awkward loner types to think they're special or different because they're lonely. It makes sense Alex would think he's like that since most of the social cues he learned from anime. As a female who is not very social and was homeschooled in high school due being bullied for my autism I can never imagine myself being as crazy as Yandere dev. Excellent video, but I have one quibble: the blaming of his homeschooling for his issues. Context: I was a fellow kid homeschooled from the age of 13 onwards, and severely isolated further by my fundamentalist (widowed) mother to the point where I had to rely on cartoons for social cues. Aka, a similar situation to Alex. I am, currently, an adult with friends, a loving boyfriend, and have been repairing my mental issues through extensive socialization and therapy for 5+ years now.
Alex's background certainly started his issues, but ALEX is why he never improved. It is possible for severely socially isolated or incel people to grow, change, and find healthy relationships. It is possible to learn, leave the past behind, and be a better person. Ya, it's hard. Ya, it sucks. Ya, its humiliating being 10 years behind your peers through no fault of your own.
But Alex seems to have made zero effort, until recently, to actually improve himself, and that I lay at his feet. A bad childhood is not an excuse when you are in your 30s and exactly the same mentally as 15.

As someone that grew up homeschooled/disconnected and went through an olympic-level mental hurricane upon moving out, I'm so glad that I didn't turn out like this dude.

I think parents do their kids a massive disservice. Growing up with other people seems so essential I can hardly imagine how to adapt without the social skills you learn in that phase.

I'm about 30 now, didn't feel as though I had found some semblance of social awareness until I hit 25.
Homeschooling does no favors for kids unless they have some sort of daily IRL social-outlet to engage with... And the kind of people (in my home area, at least) that homeschool their kids isolate them all to the point of being borderline freakish.
All for the sake of "keeping our kids away from those evil, atheistic public schoolers".

@@Kingcobra6699 I was homeschooled because my older brother became a drug addict in public school and my parents didn't want to go through that again. Personally I'm still thankful for the decision, since I think I had a more free childhood then being stuck doing mountains of homework all the time, and was able to study subjects like classic literature before I started college.
I hear kids these days are even more isolated in public school due to how overbearing and work intensive the school system has become.

Such a hilarious story because it was all avoidable. He could have easily just stopped looking at emails for a weekend and if he just purchased the time of an escort he would have been able to get it out of his system. At his pay grade he could pay for a high end girlfriend experience, got it out of his system, realized it wasn’t a big deal and could move on and honestly if he got stuck on escorts with the amount of money he was making from doing next to nothing he could have easily been railing high end escorts continuously for awhile. Probably would have made his dumb game better too. Instead he wanted to talk about being a virgin with a little girl through discord. Absolute bum.

The problem is that he was way too obsessed with everyone having to strok his ego and tell him how amazing he is. Due to his own self-loathing it was the only thing keeping him going and the constant adulation from people he would never meet. As it always is Alex was his own worst enemy and he couldn't see the forest for the trees

The email thing is genuinely so stupid. There was like a million different ways he could've solved that problem and solved it easily, and the way he acted like a secretary would just fuck up communication was unbelievably conceited.
Also the way he shot down having multiple email accounts because he'd "have to keep logging in and out of them", as if Outlook hadn't solved that problem like 20 years ago. Like fuck, even if he thought he was so busy he just couldn't spend time looking into these things, hire someone to. The apparent lack of problem solving skills he has, it's no wonder his code looks the way it does.
I always felt a twinge of empathy towards him, because I know what it's like to be well out of your depth and struggling to get on top of a project when it's your livelihood, but he had options and he took *none* of them. Good things fell into his lap left and right, fans were more than willing to forgive missed deadlines (something the real world wouldn't be so kind for) and he whined because he was too busy for a social life, all the while avoiding all the options that could've freed up time to give him one.

@@joaomartins814 basically if then statements tell the game whether or not a certain trigger has happened, and then does something based on that. as an example, the game could check whether you're holding a weapon, and then allow you to kill someone with it. the yandere sim code is so inefficient that it's actually hilarious to read. (the code wasn't very good in the first place, and instead of fixing the fundamental issues, yandev just added more and more ways around the problems, which made everything a mess.)

This made me recall my one interaction with him. He was streaming his 12h+ playthrough of Hitman 2 on twitch when it first came out. He attempted to unlock one specific achievement but couldn't do it because he mixed up the achievement with a quest title of the same name, different goal. I tried to explain it to him using CAPSLOCK to highlight the differences (bc he kept ignoring us) and he mocked me because I basically spelled it out for him like he was a child. Of CouRsE hE knOwS wHaT hE's DoiNG. He accidentally stumbled into the achievement at some point.

What's crazy is that, as an autistic man, I find most of the stuff he said and did as a kid incredibly relatable. It reminds me quite a lot of my 12-16yo self, being unable to socialize or date or hang out with people, being incredibly jealous and resentful of happy people while I was incredibly suicidal, not knowing how to express myself until it came out in anger or pettiness, until I secluded myself at home 24/7 with cartoons and anime, all while living in an abusive home.
If he had gotten mental help, he could have turned out so differently. Just because the world has failed you doesn't make you a lost cause, you have to start your own healing process, it gets easier the further you make it. I hope all the lonely, traumatized teenage weebs of the world find happiness instead of incelibacy.
