- Hey everyone! Thank you for watching.
Right now is a very unique and scary time for a lot of us. I hope each and every one of you is out there making the best of this situation and doing well.
This song is one of my favorites, and I thought now would be a good time to share it with you. I hope this brings a little peace to you while you're sitting at home or in your yard while in quarantine. I am going to take this time to play some covers of songs that makes people smile to hear.
Please request your favorite song to listen to to brighten your spirits, and I will do my best to play as many of them as I can during this time of reflection and isolation.
Song details:
-We'll Meet Again was written by Hugh Charles and Ross Walker. Made popular by Vera Lynn in 1943.

I am 80 years old and I remember hearing my parents sing this song. I really love the way you sang it and so beautifully accompanied yourself on guitar. Very uplifting at this terrible time.
Boy, you have quite a run, sense WWII to Covid 19,
Hope you doing fine old man!👍🏽👍🏽
Respect to you. God bless keep your head up king💗
@@John-oc1sr Oi!!!!! 'Old Man'??? 80 is the new 60.
Keep going, never turn back. Stay safe during the time, young man.
I do believe she passed away this past week at the noble age of 103.
Beautiful rendition!
May she Rest In Peace.
There is a recording of her singing this song last year, was really good for century old pipes
And just as she said, we will meet her again, some sunny day.
Rest in peace, Vera.
My god, the changes that woman must have seen. We're loosing them too fast!
Vera Lynn Born March 20th 1917 Died: June 18, 2020. RIP.

No effects, autotune, dancers, lights....just a beautiful voice, a guitar, and a girl. THIS is talent!!!
Jesus loves you
You have a good voice! It's a joy listen to your covered songs!
Finally! Someone that sounds different than what 99% of others are trying to sound like.
Your voice, style, tempo and sensibility are fantastic. Perfect pitch too. I could listen to you for hours.
PS: I'be been a singer in a band for 20 years, and I'm not easily impressed.
Thanks for sharing your talent.
The voice of a Siren, the artfulness of a Muse, and the face of Aphrodite.....
Thank you again, dear Allison, for the beauty you bring to the world!
💯💯💯

Excellent description of Allison!
You've fall in love my friend as many of us here
The HAIR, you didn't mention the hair...
🇬🇧 Here’s to you Vera Lynn. RIP. Thank you for being a voice of resistance in dark times. Thank you for keeping up morale among the troops. Thank you for all you did for veterans & charities throughout your life.
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn-remember how she said that we would meet again?
Alan Friesen I remember seeing her guesting on the London Palladium weekly variety show on TV a few times a year, possibly on VE Day. My parents explained her significance to me. This was the 1950’s, and WWII was still fresh in everyone’s mind, particularly Great Britain’s. She sang “ We’ll Meet Again” on every appearance I saw, and I never tired of it.
@@chuckcartwright1328 Thanks for the historical reference. That makes the Pink Floyd lyric more poignant for me.
Some sunny day.....
Vera! Vera!
What has become of you?
Does anybody else in here feel the way I do?
@@mr.b7586 Thank you sir, I haven't gone back to one of my favorite Pink Floyd clips in a while, doing so now!
@@mr.b7586 Yes, fwiw.
I'm 51, and I remember my grandma singing this song to me when I was just a kid... Every time you do a song like this, you bring a smile to my face, and a tear to my eye... Thank you :)
Same here! Love these old songs, and nobody sings and whistles them better that Allison!
Oh! Lord.......I didn't expect the whistling............I love it!!
Miss Allison;
it's not just the songs, or your great talent that makes these songs come to life, it's the whole way you do the videos.
The old style is so deeply loved by me and I'm sure by many others. I love new music for sure, but you are the pearl mixed in with so many average artists.
I wish you amazing great success, you are amazing.
Absolutely OK!! From France.
The two little doggie barks at the end just stitched the whole thing together. That was insanely charming. You are a talent that needs a tour in small venues where real people appreciate real musicians. Bravo!
she's got an audience there LOL
That dog; perfect timing to end this fab rendition.
Even the dog knew not to mess up this song, and saved his appreciative bark til the end.
The dog bark at the end was perfect
Thank you. Not a facebook thumbs up, or a TikTok heart. Just a genuine, heartfelt thank you.
Dame Vera Lynn died last month-she was 103. This is one of her great songs that she sang for the British soldiers who wereheading out to fight in World War II. Beautifully done, Allison. Thanks!
Allison, this is so extra special now that we are stuck in our homes. I'm in love with your voice. Thank you again and again. 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Yup
Adorable....amazing voice.....very talented musician who captures the heart......Reminds me of the times at the USO during the war just a beautiful voice, a guitar, and a girl. Those were the days of dreaming of being home. She truly has talent on loan from God !!! (amen)
This is great and so are you
Now now me lad lets not let your 4 pounder 44mm AA canon get in the way of this performance
You are with out a doubt the best story teller musician on the planet. Bridging so many generation to build a beautiful, magical, melodious mood. I regret to say that I have only just found you over the past few days. Your rendition of "Crazy" with Josh Turner is priceless. Thank you for all that you are and sharing it with us.
Your whistling is AMAZING! I can't whistle.
The neighbor's dog just had to voice his approval at the end. I agree.
I love watching her play and sing. Somehow it takes the edge off of my loneliness.
My dad would have had to leave the room, and return pretending something was in his eye.
Greetings from England, always great to hear you sing Allison.
A very timely song choice, Dame Vera Lynn celebrated her 103rd birthday recently and she urged everyone to keep smiling and keep singing in these difficult times, a truly remarkable lady.
Here are a few songs I would love to hear you sing
Cheek To Cheek by Doris Day
Cry me a river by Ella Fitzgerald
I'm Old Fashioned by Ella Fitzgerald
Yes and We'll Meet Again the film was on the other day. Great lady
I would love it if you could do someone to watch over me.
Wow, 103! I had no idea. Thanks for the update! God bless her!
I'm 74. What s sweet rendition. Thank you.
From someone who wishes they had grown up during the '40s and '50s, you're heaven sent. I wish this style was still IN style, at least to a wider audience. Thank you so much for continuing to post such excellent songs, and for singing them so beautifully.
cjshaker absolutely. Me too.
I wish the same thing, 30’s, 40’s , I would have played with all the great bands
Those were shitty times man you shouldnt wish that
i get the music was good but it’s a strong statement to want to wish to live in that time lmao, they were pretty shitty times
@@lilyburke9588 Were you alive then? So the great Boom after the war was a bad time, huh? All the returning GI's that started businesses and families were "shitty", huh? The huge boom in the auto industry, the air industry, and industry in general were "shitty times", huh? Have you ever heard the term "Boomer"? Because times were so good then that families were expanding, businesses were expanding, and the economy was expanding by leaps and bounds, hence the term "Boomer" for people born during that time. You must live in South Africa, because I assure you, those were NOT shitty times in the U.S.
Sunday morning, springtime, clear blue skies. I'm getting dressed for church (vintage-inspired of course), and my puppies suddenly wake up and get incredibly excited. What do they want? They were so excited by Allison's beautiful whistling voice they had to get up and give me kisses--Then romp off to play in the happiest bounces. Love you and your silky smooth voice, Allison, you bring us all joy
Lovely and perfect. This whole COVID-19 mess feels like a war, and that song helped many, many people get through the dark days of World War II. Thank you for bringing it back and making it your own. Dame Vera Lynn would be proud.
Damn Vera Lynn is actually still alive (at 103), so hopefully she gets to hear this lovely version.
You're voice actually sounds like it's from the 50s. It's a nice quality, that you don't really hear in many vocalists nowadays. Very cool!
R.I.P Vera ....thank you Allison....
You're the best jazz songstress this side of the year 2000
Allison's Voice and Guitar Playing: I'm the most beautiful thing you'll ever hear.
Allison's Whistling: Hold my beer.
Gosh, you are a sight right out of heaven.
This is peace. When we need it.
There are plenty of distrubing paralells between the summer of 2020 in the US and the summer of 1943 in England. You did Dame Vera proud on this one, and mark my words, you'll touch a lot of people with it.
Amazing as always!
Requests:
-Fly me to the moon
-Dream a little dream of me
-Can't help falling in love
-Both sides now
-Tom's diner
-Love of my life
spoot also Everybody Loves Somebody
I think she did "Dream a Little Dream" with Josh Turner.
Another request. COME VISIT ME BABY 👍🏼

I'll pile on here with: On the Sunny Side of The Street Written by Jimmy McHugh and Dorothy Fields Made popular by Louis Armstrong 1934?? Manhattan Transfer has a good version...
I'm happy to see a beautiful woman singing such beautiful songs
Jesus H Christ, you have such a gorgeous singing voice. Great job giving it a country feel to this beloved song, Allison. And that whistle in the middle of it, beautiful. Keep on doin what you do, my lady. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
It is appalling to see the Lord’s name taken in vain and used this way. It’s totally unnecessary.
Oh my goodness dear... as a fellow vocalist and past vocal teacher this was absolutely beautiful ! In tune and not a note missed . Keep sharing your gift ❤️
What an ephemeral beauty. (Drifts lazily into the sun on Allison's sweet voice...)
Sunshine in a dark day!!!
Allison, You whistle pretty. Keep these nostalgic songs coming please. You do them so well.
Another joyful 2 minutes with Allison Young
As usual, great singing. It’s like seeing the 40’s but in color.
I'm not sure why UA-cam thought I should arrive here, but it was serendipity. I used to have this on 78 back when I used to rummage garage sales for interesting old torch tunes (on either 78 or sheet music) 30-40 years ago. Lovely rendition, and may we indeed do so.
Always a ray of sunshine!
The lighting on this one is perfect. I guess it was bright outside, now it's inside...me. THANKS Allison. Stay covid safe. 'In the midst of winter, I found there was within me, an invincible summer', - Albert Camus.
Really nice allison one of those never age numbers definitely encouraging in these times cheers great upload👌👏👏👏
You breathe new life into these great old songs. Thanks!
God I love this kind of song. Thank you for this moment :)
How could I not feel better after hearing this delightful song...by this delightful singer??? Thank you! ❤❤❤
When you posted this song last month, I brushed it off because it was a depressing thought I just didn't need or want. And now coronavirus took my dad on Monday and this song is one of the few keeping me together. So thank you.
I am putting my 15 year old Cockapoo to sleep today due to his age and illnesses. Hearing this song by this beautiful lady made me feel so much better. Thank you!
Rest in Peace Vera 🙏❤️
Absolutely lovely
So "à propos" these days... Thank you so much for being our daily dose of sunshine!
Just what I was thinking!
Lovely version. And happy belated 103rd birthday to Ms. Vera Lynn.
Another great one. Keep them coming Alison
Dear Allison: I am sure you hear this all the time... but your voice, your looks (OMG your hair !!!) you are so wonderful.
Amazing cover. I thought I was the only person in my age bracket that knew this song haha
Bruh plenty of young people know this song. I'm Irish and I knew this song when I was 10. I'm 18 now
Arguably it's the most known song from the 40s. Or at least in the top ten.
It was at the end of Dr. Strangelove, and Pink Floyd references it in The Wall.
I dunno, I've just heard it a bunch.
flashbacks from fallout anyone?
I believe it was in Futurama, too.
Also gravity falls for a bit
Here I am again, a year or so later and this is still one of my favorites. You start singing I am captivated, can't look away until you finish, what a beautiful rendition of that song. I think I like yours the best , it might be the twinkle in your eye or that sweet little grin, then your smile is so lovely. Just everything about this video is beautiful and lovely as can be , thank you for sharing your gift. I've watched a lot of your videos and you are one-of-a-kind Allison oh, God bless.
Thank you for such a great rendition the "Greatest Generation's" most popular (and heart felt) song . Throughout my 70+ years there have only been three songs that literally stopped me in my tracks when I first heard them. They are: Dame Vera Lynn's version of this one, Edith Piaff's "La Vie En Rose" and Prelude's version of Neil Young's "After the Gold Rush". One a lighter note, you might enjoy Vera Lynn's "Bless'em All" on UA-cam. Thank you again.
Awake at 3:00 a.m. & - ...click..strum strum..WHAT!?...had to replay to believe my ears. Wanted to hear a Boo Beep Dee Doo! But the doggy bark made up for it. Time travel just occured! What an awesome ride! Thank you!
If you get the chance, could you sing “I’ll be Seeing You?” It was very popular during World War II. My dad was a combat engineer during the war. It was sung at his funeral. This song is very special to me and my mother who is still living.
Every single time I see you and hear you it takes my breath away. Literally I stop breathing for a moment when I look at you and hear your voice.
This is my favorite song ever. I like the Vera Lynn version at the end of Dr Strangelove lol
Exquisite. What a whistle! This lovely classic takes on new poignancy during this pandemic...
This song was written and made popular in WWII. People really didn’t know if they were going to make it home alive. It’s a very melancholy song.
Brightness for 2020. 🤩
Oh golly she’s pretty
This beautiful rendition of the this song brings back memories of my youth. Thanks for the transport.
This made me start crying the second you started singing. My boyfriend and I have had to separate due to him moving back home and this made me think of him - beautifully performed!
Vera Lynn lives on
Such a Sweet Beautiful voice so clear and perfect !♥️♥️♥️
Thank you Allison, Vera would be happy. She cheered the hearts of millions.
RIP Dame Vera
As I think of straying away. Its the music that keeps me going. Bless you for your voice and your love of life. It helped.

What a doll you are, Allison. Your presence, vocal and playing style would have made you a giant back in the '20s. And wouldn't you know it, here we are again. This is your decade!

I was already loving it, even before the whistling blew me away.
“Ain’t no sunshine” or “Just the two of us” to honor the late, great Bill Withers.
Oh yeah, something by Bill Withers, to follow up your John Prine tribute!
Ain't no sunshine when she's gone... there's a song I always find myself humming and no one gets it to reference it. I can get other people to riff Linkin Park with me, but not that.
What a lovely voice and equally lovely young woman. Thanks you for that ray of sunshine.
