I searched "how to clean bathroom" about a week ago. I got such a buzz out of cleaning my bathroom I have binged watched about 20+ of your vids! Since then I've thoroughly leaned my cooker, currently have vinegar in my kettle and hot wash in my dish washer with vinegar. My bathroom is gleaming and I've got all sorts of new cleaning products, clothes and the infamous "microfiber cloths". what have you done to me?! Lol now I'm about to go wash my pillows 😂
Thank you so much for this video! I have been vacuuming and steaming my pillow periodically but have been experiencing terrible congestion that wakes me up in the night and cuts short my sleep. When I got up in the morning it would take a couple of hours for the congestion to abate but it never went away completely. After watching your video I immediately checked the label on my pillow and threw it in the washing machine. It took about 3 cycles in the dryer to dry it completely. I just got up this morning and have absolutely NO congestion and had the best night sleep I've had in absolutely ages!!!! And it is like a new pillow - soft and fluffy. I can't thank you enough - truly life saving for me!🙌🤗🙏
Thank you for this video. I am bit ashamed but my husband has had his pillow for about 10 years now. When we met he already had it, I put a pillow protector on it but never thought what could be happening inside of it, he didn't have a protector on it before we met so I can only imagine. He is getting a new pillow thanks to you!
The one thing I missed on this video is, how often do you wash your pillows? I usually do sheets/mattress pad weekly, blankets and bedspreads monthly. Where would my pillows fit in? Thank you for your great videos and keep up the good work. I admire those who have the technology to do this because I don't.
I bought bamboo pillows a few years ago. Love them. They are a firm pillow not fluffy. The price I paid for them I can’t be tossing them away after a couple of years. . They came with a thick pillow protector which I wash once a month. Will try to locate the washing instruction now that I have seen your video. Thank you. 🇨🇦
We use a pillow case and pillow cover because a pillow case isn’t enough to protect the pillow from nasty stains. I tend to wash the covers and pillow cases with the bed sheets/linens weekly but the pillows tend to get washed every couple of months
I live in the UK, where most people don't have a dryer, and it's always humid. I use pillow protectors and try not to think too hard about whatever gets through that!
Yeah, this video has had two effects on me as a non-dryer-owning Brit. It made me aware that I'm supposed to wash my pillows, and then dashed my hopes of actually being able to.
I wash mine pretty often actually! Once every month or so depending on when I remember to! We love a clean mattress, pillows, sheets, AND duvet. Best feeling ever sliding into bed
Can i ask why it is that you got bed bugs if you were so on top of your laundry and linen hygiene?? That’s concerning and I want to make sure I am educated…
I have two wool-filled pillows and two memory foam pillows on my bed. I have pillow protectors on the wool-filled ones and the memory foam pillows came with protectors. They also have a cooling side. My tip is that when your hair is damp, either from washing or from summer sweat, cover your pillow with a cotton towel folded in half. It protects your pillow from sweat or water stains and is easy to throw in the wash.
@@prepperjonpnw6482 they have a zipper!!! And they fit the pillow rather snug. The isual pillow case is kind of open in one side and fits more loose. ;)
@@prepperjonpnw6482 I get my pillow protectors at Walmart. They look like a pillowcase but fit snug over the pillow with a zipper enclosure. You place the pillowcase over them.
I only use a Down pillow, quilted pillow protector and zippered satin pillow case. I wash the case and protector weekly at home. Every 4 months, I drive to a laundromat to clean the actual pillows using a large washer and dryer. Worth the money and time... plus it's fun hearing the dryer balls bouncing around.
Omg. My pillow is probably 10 yrs old at least! But I love it so much! It’s like a lovey/stuffie... I have attachments to my pillows! My first pillow I swear I probably used for maybe 15-20 yrs or something! I know it sounds really weird, and so gross but I feel so bad replacing them! I still have my first pillow in the spare room! And I have never washed my current pillow, at least it’s in a pillow protector! I love my pillow the same way people love their animals, and how babies love their loveys! 😢
I've had my 'squishy' pillow for most of my life. It's made from shredded bed egg-cartons. It's super comfy. It hasn't ever sprung back from the fold test. It's my all time favorite pillow. I do wash it but I dont plan to stop using it anytime soon.
Do you launder the pillow protector each time you launder the pillow case? I've been laundering the pillow protector every 3-4 time. Thank you and keep up the great work!!
One more quick tip. Before washing a feather pillow in the washing machine, you might want to give it a quick look to make sure there are no rips or tears. Great video. Thanks!

There are several types of natural fiber (fill) pillows that cannot be washed at all: -Buckwheat hulls, Kapok, Cotton, Wool- I’ve had all but the kapok, with wool being my go-to choice. Washing would turn it into a matted compressed mess. Washing the cotton-fill, or buckwheat hull, pillows would be even worse!. Instead, I add an extra layer of pillow protector, wash the protectors every time I wash the sheets/pillowcases, and run the pillows through the hot dryer occasionally to disinfect and fluff. This does mean that I replace the pillows more frequently than I would a down/feather pillow. They’re not cheap, but I won’t sleep with my face in synthetics, and unfortunately I’m allergic to down. I live in a climate where neither mold, nor dust mites, are a problem, so that helps! The older pillows are used for camping, or repurposed as dog beds!
You can hit the laundromat just to have them dry and sanitize, and yes definitely when spring comes, pollen will be in the air once more. Not a good idea to sun dry the pillows when spring comes or it'll turn green lol
I just cut them and wash the stuffing separately.. i then add a zipper... so your not picking stuffing out your machines for the next 2 months.. use a perforated laundry bag and wash
Last week my almost 3 year old was sick in the middle of the night because of the heat here (middle of summer in Australia), so ended up in our bed at 3am. 45 minutes later he vomited all over my pillow and I had to wash it, it’s a memory foam pillow. I literally had no other options because of how much vomit happened lol. Pillow had turned out fine but it took about 6 turns in the dryer for it to finish because our dryer has a moisture sensor and because it wasn’t pulling any water out kept finishing itself. I think I’m going to invest in some dryer balls for next time
Did I miss the the dryer settings or were none given? I knew we needed to wash most pillows, but how often? Is the folding test for washing or discarding? I think I'm more confused than I was before. :(
"Don't use any moisture for memory foam" .......I remember spraying it with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it b/c sensitive skin......I will buy a pillow protector.
So I tried to wash my pillow, and followed exactly the instructions in the tag, however it had clumps and became uniform. Yes I used all the dryer balls I have (6). Was that not enough? Honestly it really discouraged me of washing my pillows again. I’ll probably go back to just getting a new one. At least I always do double pillow cases and wash those regularly...
Hi I have one pillow made from real duck fur, a gift from my grandma . Now, I put it in the washing machine once and it took forever to dry, it just absorbed all the water and was impossible to get rid of it for over two weeks . Any idea how to clean those type of pillows ?
You mentioned pillow protectors. I'm guessing they are the first thing on the pillow before the pillow case. When I dry my pillows, the inside seems to come out lumpy even when they are bone dry. Any ideas or solutions?

Am I the only one who uses two types of pillow protectors, waterproof and quilted? You can get quilted ones that have a layer of waterproofing on the inside as well these days. My advice is to use them both. Your pillows will thank you for it. Same on our mattresses too, waterproof, to repell, and quilted to absorb. And I wash the quilted protectors everytime I wash the sheets, but, just like my towels, I never use fabric conditioner on them, I want them to be absorbent. Most people know that Wal-Mart is where you get a clean pillow for a few bucks. But maybe not. I have used the same pillows for years by hand cleaning them. The last few times I've used a top loading washing machine so I can spin the water out without lifting them.
