Hey Melissa, I work at a vets office and know aaaaall about getting blood stains out of fabric (after surgeries, i swear). I've learned to soak a large blood stain in COLD water as soon as possible to rinse away as many cells as you can - hot water can "cook" the blood onto the fabric so ONLY USE COLD. Then go in with the peroxide and let it sit as you stated. Rinse with cold water again and repeat until the stain is gone/almost gone, then launder normally. Adding the cold water rinse works almost every time, the main reason I see stains setting is due to the use of hot water on a fresh stain. I hope this helps someone in need :) *edit: also avoid putting peroxide on a large amount of blood on white fabric. It can leave a brown stain. Rinse as much away as possible with cold water then use peroxide.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. So sorry to hear about your situation, that's very unfortunate. Since I wasn't there it's hard to say exactly what happened. However, there is always a risk with any procedure under anethesia, even for young animals. While it is rare, statistically anesthetic deaths (a death resulting from the anesthesia specifically) happens in 0.12% of healthy anesthetized animals (as per a veterinary study done in 2012). While this is a small percentage, owners should always be aware of the risk associated with anesthesia, and that the risk increases in older or sick patients. I personally have seen 2 anesthetic deaths in my career thus far and they were both young and seemingly healthy upon examination the day of the procedure (spay/neuter). We can never presume how an animal or human will react to anesthesia. Even when an animal goes into cardiac arrest, the survival rate is only 5% ): I hope this helps clarify, and I hope the autopsy brings you some closure during this time. I wish you all the best.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. as a last comment I will say that even with the risk, I still recommend getting animals spayed/ neutered, preferably around 5-6 months. The main reason for this is to reduce overpopulation, reduce the anesthetic risk, reduce behavioral issues associated with intact animals (eg spraying in male cats), and lastly to greatly reduce the risk of prostate/mammary gland cancer (done before 5 months reduces the risk by 99%,
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. that's true, German shepherds are a very diseased breed in that regard (hip/elbow dysplasia, cancer, spinal issues), that definitely is a thing. From what I understand large breeds in general can wait a bit longer, I know this more for bone development to prevent knee problems. Hip dysplasia is hereditary and animals with the disease shouldn't be bred as they can pass it on.
The first thing I'm going to try is the grout cleaning. It's been bugging me trying to find something to get it looking good. -Edit: Just cleaned the grout and it works! Ive done a once over and so much came out. Some parts turned white but im certain after a second time the rest should too. Thank you so much, you saved me from having to pay a professional.
My sister made a paste of OxiClean (has h2o2) and put it on her grout, then used a brush that goes on a drill to scrub it. She said it worked great, but then you have to seal it!
I have cats. Naturally, they will occasionally barf on one of my off-white area rugs and rarely on the dark bedroom carpeting. I have found that hydrogen peroxide does a great job in cleaning the stains after I pick up the barf or hair ball. I’ve always used it for disinfecting my toothbrushes, and I use it on my cutting boards. I also will a capful to my waterpik flosser to not only keep the tube clean, but it does a great job in keeping gums healthy. At almost 69, I still have all of my teeth!
It's also good for teeth whitening. My dentist recommends it. Just use it a few times/week diluted with a bit of water. Swish it around well in your mouth and spit it out.
My dentist told me about this over 40 years ago (I'm 76 now). A dentist in the '30's published it in the literature where he read it. I have never used toothpaste since, and brush once per day with a 2 water - 1 H2O2 solution. As time went on and my mouth got used to it I increased the H2O2 in the ratio. I do not use it for whitening (tho it does of course), it kills bacteria. I NEVER have had cavities or mouth problems in all those years. The only time I go to a dentist is if there is a problem with a tooth, such as a filling falls out. Why would you go to a dentist? Hydrogen peroxide cleans your mouth and kills all bacteria every day...
I cleaned my porcelain tiles with castile soap and peroxide hot water and let me tell you , i thought i had dark grey grout ... nope i got nearly light grey grout i cant tell you how great this worked
Before cleaning the toilet pump the water so that its just below the water line. You also leave your toilet brush in the bowl while you flush as this will rinse your brush and remove any nasties. The brush doesn’t block the water from going down. Just a trick I use.
Good tip on the menstrual cups! I wash mine with dawn dish soap and then boil after every period. 45 years ago, I had a friend whose dentist, who was 80 years old, to soak her toothbrush in hydrogen peroxide. Then, I became a nurse and learned that hydrogen peroxide is used to clean and disinfect wounds if various sorts but only in a 50% with water, or normal saline). Then rinsing is very important. With those two bits of information, I started storing my toothbrush in a 50% dilution of water and hydrogen peroxide. I also started pouring peroxide over dental floss before I used it. It keeps my toothbrush disinfected, helps whiten my teeth, and keeps gums healthy. For years and years, when I've had my teeth cleaned, I've always been told how well I keep my teeth clean. Now I use undiluted peroxide to soak my toothbrush in.
during the first pandemic lockdown I was washing my reusable bags after every grocery shop. Now I haven't done it in at least 3 months. I guess I should get back to at least a monthly clean of those. Melissa, I love all your tips and your channel. You are a Godsend. Thank you. 🙏🏻
I love your videos and am so grateful for them. That said I cringed over your care of your cutting board. A clean dry wooden cutting board should be thoroughly oiled from the very beginning with an oil that doesn't spoil. (Boos sells great oils). The oil absorbs into the board and doesn't permit water to soak in. Every so often, depending how often you use your board, it's thoroughly washed using lemon juice or vinegar and salt, rinsed, allowed to thoroughly dry, and oiled again.
I use it in my water for cleaning my dentures, especially when sick. I also use it as a rinse when I have sores in my mouth. I found out that its a great antifungal for getting rid of mold in the bathroom. It fizzes up just like when it touches blood. When it stops fizzing the mold is gone. Amazing stuff.
I meant to say the blood , stool stains, or yellow bile. It works on doggy poop and pee stains on the carpet great. I use Folgers carpet stain remover after I soak up the discolored fluid. N
I use hydrogen peroxide for all of those tasks and more. I love it because instead of releasing chemicals in the air it releases oxygen when it dries. Also great for glass surfaces including windows, mirrors, tv screens and cellphones. Remember to use gloves if working with it full strength.
I’m gray and I use it on my hair to take out the yellow. Works great and has no noticeable effect on the rest of my hair. I put it on my dry hair for 15 mins and than shampoo.

The hydrogen peroxide and baking soda paste was the only way I was able to get stains out of my parent's white Corian sink. I also use it to get stains out of my stainless steel cookware that otherwise wouldn't come out in the dishwasher. Just make a paste and let it sit over night.
@@tomwessling7065 hope it works for you. My parent's sink was Corian, just like the countertops. We tried Bar Keeper's Friend, Soft Scrub with bleach, etc. But a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide was the only thing that got the stains out. It took multiple applications though.
I’ve been following you for years and I love these simple hacks. Btw, my husband needs to watch this video so I can prove that “toilet ploom” is a thing and not just something I made up.

@@user-ob8ju4me6t peroxide is good on it's own, you can google how to properly use it, I use it on almost everything, bleach is a no no for me as it burns my eyes and nose and gives me a huge headache, my husband uses it for his socks on occasion but only when I am away, most alternative bleach products smell horrid even if safe, like tymol which is derived from thyme, it's like industrial bug spray with a thyme scent, peroxide kills just as much as bleach and it's way safer for use around kids and pets, plus bleach requires you to leave on 10 minutes, wipe then allow to dry to kill but you can't put it on stuff you will be eating on or touching food and going in the mouth unless you rinse, peroxide is one minute and no rinse needed you can use it in your mouth as mouthwash (dentists say not to due to it killing good bacteria in your mouth as well though)
I knew about most of these, but I'm always grateful for the reminders. I will try to use peroxide on my cutting board. I have been using bleach. Your idea seems safer.🙂

I buy big gallons from Sally's and use it to clean everything, mixed with water, of course. I put it into the tall milky white spray bottles and add water. It is effective for a long time, and doesn't degrade. For food items I use food grade 30% mixed with water.
Brilliant suggestions. I have experienced success with unlocking set in stains by making a paste with Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda. I put the paste on the stained fabric and pour a little bit more Hydrogen Peroxide on it to let the blend soak in. I gently rub the paste into the fabric and let it sit for 30 minutes or even much longer rolled up. Then I wash in the laundry with detergent. Be careful that the fabric color won't fade from this treatment in advance. Otherwise, there will be faded areas where the paste is applied. Works great on linen tablecloths or napkins with very old wine or food stains on them. The results have been surprisingly great on stains that were more than decades old in some old tablecloths.

I had a pop up tent trailer that periodically got mold spots on the tip outs. This is nearly impossible to avoid because you are bound to leave any campsite with some organic material on the canvas. Because your trailer is closed for travel and storage that organic material will begin to breakdown and cause mold. Canvas is very difficult to clean because it can be damaged by almost any cleaner except soap and water. That’s where the hydrogen peroxide comes in. Simply open up your trailer on a warm day or even at the campsite before you set up the beds etc. Mist straight hydrogen peroxide onto the canvas wherever you see dark mold. Don’t rub the canvas because you want to keep that material strong. Let the hydrogen peroxide dry and reapply as necessary until all those little mold spots are gone. This will not damage the fabric and will remove all the mold before you have a really big problem. I did this for over a decade on my tent trailer and never had a hole or weak fabric as a result. Just really white clean canvas. I hope this helps someone. I searched for years to find a safe product that works without damaging that canvas. Great video. Oh. I also use it straight on white baseball hats that get sweat stained. Does a great job.
I once heard the toilet plume also referred to as "Sharticles" and now I keep bathroom items a bit further from the toilet. We also use a drop of peroxide to clean our ears.

I used to put it on the collars of my drooly toddlers shirts before throwing in the wash. Killed the mildewy smell that would get stuck from all the drool.

What Vol. Peroxide do you use??? Peroxide is also used in hairdressing at different strengths for different applications, known as Vol. So just wondering what Vol peroxide we should be using.
My grandma told me to use it like a mouthwash at least once weekly for teeth staining from coffee, wine, smoking, etc. (Only the kind with purified or distilled water in it as only other ingredient) Put in a good mouthful and swish it at first a few times then let sit for at least one minute and allow to bubble. My gsd puppy was playing with my little chiweenie mix who was older and got a little too rough. He accidentally sank one of his little razor sharp puppy teeth into her face right above her eye. I use HP for cleaning/sanitizing toothbrushes, rinsing my mouth 2-3 times per week (diluted with water) removing blood/various stains from fabrics, wiping door knobs and coutertops and all over the bathrooms and drains!!!
If you don't dilute with water for mouth rinse it is more effective for stain removal. As long as you don't have teeth sensitivity and only leave it in for 30 seconds to a minute. A dentist as well as my great grandma told me that
It looked to me like you were spraying the HP in that recycling bin on your granite countertop. I thought that HP was harmful to that type of countertop.
I clean with hydrogen peroxide, mixed with some water and dawn. I only mix what I need. It's great for the kitchen and bathroom. Two parts HP, one part water, one or two squirts dawn. I spray and let sit for 20 to 30 minutes. Not two or three. Makes my life easy. Tip, if you have some left over, pour it in the shower or spray it in the shower. This mixture is great to clean all baby or elderly areas. Non toxic.

Time to get rid of your sloppy cats !!!
You definitely need a half dozen more cats

It's also good for teeth whitening. My dentist recommends it. Just use it a few times/week diluted with a bit of water. Swish it around well in your mouth and spit it out.
I will never put that stuff in my mouth, I heard that if you accidentally swallow it, you throw up immediately! Don’t wanna experience that! 🤢
🤔 Be right back.
Before cleaning the toilet pump the water so that its just below the water line. You also leave your toilet brush in the bowl while you flush as this will rinse your brush and remove any nasties. The brush doesn’t block the water from going down. Just a trick I use.
How to you pump the water?
I use the disposable toilet brushes. Feels cleaner for me
Works great at whitening menstrual cups and removing stains from reusable pads too. I also use it for mildew spots on the corners of my shower!
Good tip on the menstrual cups! I wash mine with dawn dish soap and then boil after every period. I leave it out to dry and my husband will see it and say “why is it discolored?” I reply “it’s fine!” Lol I know they get discolored after awhile but are still good, so I will definitely use your tip now

I use it + water in a microwave, to disinfect a sponge.
I boil water + add hydrogen peroxide to disinfect toothbrushes weekly

during the first pandemic lockdown I was washing my reusable bags after every grocery shop. Now I haven't done it in at least 3 months. I guess I should get back to at least a monthly clean of those. Melissa, I love all your tips and your channel. You are a Godsend. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Also setting them out in the sunshine should help
I guarantee all the Walmarts and target near her are always out of stock of peroxide, baking soda and vinegar.
Wow. Thanks for that tip. Gotta try that pronto. 10% bleach is the usual recommendation but doesn't work very well.
Yes 💯
As a nurse of 40 years, I learned as a new nurse to pour H2O2 on my white uniforms. Then throw 1/2 of cup of Borax and wash with warm water.
I meant to say the blood , stool stains, or yellow bile. It works on doggy poop and pee stains on the carpet great. I use Folgers carpet stain remover after I soak up the discolored fluid.

I use hydrogen peroxide for all of those tasks and more. I love it because instead of releasing chemicals in the air it releases oxygen when it dries. Also great for glass surfaces including windows, mirrors, tv screens and cellphones. Remember to use gloves if working with it full strength.
Diluted vinegar is also an excellent glass cleaner. Works far better than ammonia, which is toxic anyway

Thank you - I have a very old sink with deep scratches.
It seems almost all the uses of Hydrogen Peroxide as a cleaner are interchangeable with Vinegar solution.

All wood has antibacterial properties both during the life of the tree and afterwards. There's way more living bacteria on plastic cutting boards. Smells on wood are more from the stuff being cut; if you want those scents gone will peroxide remove them?

Anyways I put that on my grout leave it for about 15mins or so don't ket it dry out if possible but if it does its ok just use some hot water to moisten it back up, obviously make sure to securd pets children etc and open up your house for ventilation.. very important! Use cleaning gloves too.
After it soaks you want to use a grout brush (preferably) or any small cleaning brush even an old tooth brush will work but more work. Wear white Just in case my dumb self ruined my leggings first time I used this method! I knew better just wasn't thinking! Lol
Then have a bucket of warm water near you with a cleaning rag and after you scrub it wipe it off really well after you're done I'd rinse your entire floor with just a mop plain water you might want to rinse it twice.
Meaning after you rinse the entire area once, throw that water out and start with fresh bucket clean water and go over it one more time especially if you have pets or small children
P.s it is extremely important to have windows doors open you must have a lot of ventilation again first time I did it my dog even though was in separate room had trouble breathing I had to take her outside for a very long walk turned on all the fans etc now im also in a very small 1 bedroom condo but still!
