    I do this type of gymnastics and I really feel like we don’t get as much respect and credit as artistic gymnasts. People have literally told me that this is nothing compared to artistic and it really enrages me. They are equally as difficult and you honestly can’t even compare the two.

    • @led_einstein2832
      @led_einstein2832 3 роки тому +11

      well, they really aren't equally as difficult. I hate to burst your bubble here but all of the skills shown in this video have been done in gymnastics on the floor, which is less springy than the tumbling track, and gives less room for run up. Not only this, but floor is but one event of the 4(women) or 6(men) in the entire sport. Tumbling is almost all leg strength whereas gymnastics is arms, legs, core, back, chest, you name it. Gymnastics really is harder, sorry but it's true.

    • @inanutshell4426
      @inanutshell4426 3 роки тому +22

      Well, I hate to hurt YOUR bubble, but the skills actually are equally as difficulty. Have have done both different types of gymnastics, and they are difficult. For artistic (what you’re talking about), they would never connect to back twisting skills to whips to double layouts into another few whips into a crazy twisting/double skill for the landing. STOP COMPARING TO COMPLETELY DIFFERENT TYPES OF GYMNASTICS! That’s like comparing baseball to hockey. Just, no. You don’t know what you’re talking about so just shut your mouth.

      @@inanutshell4426 Really? You really think that comparing these two very similar sports is like comparing baseball and hockey? Do you think it would be just as hard for an artistic gymnast to learn to punch out of a double layout as it would be for one of these gymnasts to get the sheer upper body and core strength needed to hold a multise on rings for 3 seconds? not to mention, in artistic gymnastics, there are people doing quad back fulls and triple back pikes, and triple doubles on the floor and sticking the landing, not to mention you've got people combining 2 and a half twisting skills to double flipping skills such as a back 2 1/2 x front double full x front 1 1/2? As well as combinations such as a back 2 1/2 x double front flip with a half twist. Plus, these types of gymnasts don't even do front tumbling!! Sure, you can't compare two sports like cornhole and basketball, but you can objectively say that one requires much more prep and is much more taxing on the body. To say that two things are not alike and therefore cannot be compared is just objectively wrong. Sorry not sorry.

      @helenaperez-stark7662 2 роки тому +5

      @@led_einstein2832I mean I competed trampoline and tumbling for like a decade and think artistic is definitely way harder, but I think it is also ridiculous to pretend like male tumblers don't compete not only triple pikes, but full twisting triple pikes. Front tumbling skills are not a feasible competitive option for tumblers due to the momentum required to successfully do doubles in the middle of your pass, similarly to the way that it is not feasible for artistic gymnasts to do multiple doubles in the middle of their passes due to the length of the floor. They're different sports, get over it

    All of the non-gymnasts in the comments need to stop saying artistic gymnastics is harder. It’s not a contest. You don’t understand how hard it is to connect skills like that. Connecting back to back tumbling passes was BANNED in artistic gymnastics as soon as people started attempting it because it’s so difficult and exhausting that gymnastics were getting seriously injured, and that wasn’t near this level of difficulty. Most artistic gymnasts would fail at this, because they have not been trained to do this type of tumbling. (I’m a former artistic gymnast)

On whips and handsprings they want low to the ground and the pass to get faster in speed as they go down the floor! The landing at the end with minimum bounce and stick. They also look for difficulty such as the higher skills and doubles with twisting for a higher starting score!

    • @lordcoe5577
      @lordcoe5577 3 роки тому +11

      Artistic gymnastics uses several different apparatus, 4 for women and 6 for men. Tumbling is just that, 2 tumbling passes on a tumble track. Both women and men in gymnastics compete of the floor apparatus, they do similar tumbling on their as well as other skills besides tumbling. On floor the space to tumble is shorter and so the elements are most limited. It is harder to create amplitude and speed in such a short space and so the elements are slightly different. In tumbling there is more room for connections, height and harder landings. Both are about the presentation of the abilities and the difficulty of said abilities, there is just more variety in gymnastics because there are other things involved.
      I hope that clears it up I am by no means a guru on either sport but I think that's a good enough start.

      FINALLY someone actually points it out!! Literally anyone who's like "don't you understand how impossible that is with what they're doing" has NO true gymnastics experience. You don't get scored in competitions with the judges going "oh there's no way I could do that, good scores for everyone!" No, they count EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY the landing, and they DON'T go easy on anyone or worry about hurting feelings or giving everyone some participation trophy. I mean the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP is basically as important as the Olympics in gymnastics during non-Olympic years, so I kind of expected some badass landings myself. Obviously the tumbling passes are nice, but I definitely expected way better landings as well for the World Championship.
      PS - Also literally anyone who says "if you don't like it, don't watch it" has no LIFE experience. You literally HAVE to watch something to know if you like it or not, and you have every right to post your true feelings when there are comment sections.

      They don't do this many elements in a row and they have springs in the floor for artistic gymnastics.

      It would actually take a lot of training to switch over from one to the other. Simone is trained to do three short difficult passes. These gymnasts are trained to do two much longer passes. Just like these gymnasts can’t do what Simone does, Simone can’t do what these gymnasts do.

      not cotillionaire well these vids were recommended from when i was watching men’s events. And i thought i’d check these out, but honestly compared to the previous men’s vids these are just awful. So what i was hoping to accomplish is to point out the amateur feel of the women’s gymnastics compared to the men’s.

      @@IrradioMan But that's not a fair criticism to make. There's a reason they separate the sports by sex, the power needed to do these kinds of things is insane. These women are insanely strong and calling them amateurs and not as good as the men isn't fair to them. You can't compare the two. You may prefer to watch the men because it looks visually stunning and mind-blowing. I can agree that on an entertainment level men's tumbling is more enjoyable for me. But to say "these are just awful" and "amateur-feel" is to suggest the women aren't as good as the men or aren't doing the same level difficulty. The way the sport works is skills are given difficulty ratings, each skill has a different value in mens tumbling and women's tumbling. Why? Because, for a man, this tumbling is easier than it would be for a woman to do. They are doing things that are equally as difficult, but it just so happens the men look more impressive as a result, particularly in comparison. You don't compare the size of a trout to the size of a tuna fish, you compare it to other trout because that's fair. I get what you were trying to say but it's really mean to frankly treat these female athletes with such disrespect.

      Lord Coe well I’m comparing it in terms of the best in the sport itself. So I’m looking at everyone together and seeing who can do it the best. The contrast between the men and women in terms of skill level, speed, height, etc was pretty strong.
