Thanks again to RexMD for sponsoring - RexMD.com/CUPODCAST Do you think DKOldies is a "scam"? Have you ever ordered from them? If so, what did you order and how did it go? I'd love to hear!
I think the term refurbished has changed in recent years. Refurbished used to mean you cleaned the console, and made it look nice and shiny. Now, it's apparently you open it up, clean it completely, replace capacitors, and whatever else. I think the expectations of what the word means has changed. In reality, DKoldies should just stop using the term refurbished. I do, however, also agree in the sentiment that this is because it's a slow week, and drama channels are looking and fiending for drama and clicks. I've never bought from DKoldies, but I have browsed their site in the past. Yes, their prices are high, at least compared to the North American market. I'm not sure if Pal collectors find their prices to be too high depending on the game, and what the Pal version costs by comparison. International selling could also be a factor in their prices. Obviously, people are paying the prices asked, or they wouldn't have been in business for as long as they have. I've already seen people posting the "DKoldies scammed me" videos on all of DKoldies twitter threads to harrass them. If they are scamming, then shame on them, however, bashing them has become a trend, and mostly because UA-camrs were bored, and needed drama for clicks which is a shame. Now people will buy a system from them, just to make more "DKoldies is teh scam" videos for drama clicks, and even if the consoles aren't dirty inside, I'm sure youtubers never embellish things for clicks, nor do they ever mislead or set things up. I'm sure they would never swap consoles for a dirtier one just for a video. That would never happen.
DKOldies is not a scam, never has been and never will be. People need to look up what a scam really is. It's not overcharging for goods and services. You can call them dishonest or a fraud in regards to what is or is not refurbished but they are not a scam in any conceivable way. If you have a problem with their products and feel they lied about the condition, call the better business bureau. A scam is a practice used to take your money, usually with the promise of a better return, only to be robbed out of your money and in some cases, out of your identity. A lot of the time you see these people from other countries that have no extradition treaties with your home country, so they steal from you and not be held responsible. Be careful labelling something a scam without real legal proof, it can lead to a defamation of character suit.
To be fair, some people that complain about DK Oldies have a very extreme view on what counts as refurbished. Like replacing perfectly good capacitors on relatively recent devices (outside the cap plague era), replacing thermal paste that's still functions properly, replace a perfectly fine original laser, and all that kind of stuff. A lot of stuff doesn't require changing but loads of people (especially new collectors/players with no tech background) have this idea replacing components is always good and is a requirement with refurbishment, even when the new parts are of known lower quality. I've had so many new collectors complain about shit like that, I tend to take the time to actually go in depth as to why I did what I did however. Granted a few examples of their are off, but the 2 I've seen could be chalked up to simple error and the people complaining about it I've yet to see actually go through reporting it and how DK oldies handles such issues. If they give they require to ship it back while they cover shipping or something along those lines it'd be perfectly fine. Prices on the other hand are crazy, but people apparently pay for it.
@@relo999 people pay it because they think it was cleaned and looked over, the scam is really in sending out units they only checked if it runs without as much as opening it and calling it refurbished when it's not even opened and slapping on a sticker (on the original sticker) to prevent the customer from taking a peek without losing the send back period. it's not so much about if they replaced all caps that the hubbub is about - it's that they didn't even take a look. well there's the usual americana sales tactics of saying shit's -50% when it's just the normal only price they've sold it. the SCAM with the pricing part is also using influencers and putting shit on tiktok saying that it is a good deal, when it is not.
@@lasskinn474 Well the videos complaining about their refurbishing have pretty much all been complaining parts that shouldn't need replacing, if they still function well, not being replaced. With 2 having other issues that I would argue is an issue with refurbishing, but that depends on their return policy if it's actually an issue. From what I've seen they do clean inside the consoles they sold and seem to do the bare minimum of preventative care, which is honestly what I expect if I'd ever bough from a store and they claim it's refurbished. Granted I might have seen different videos and reviews than you. As for pricing, it's on the consumer in my eyes. Not hard to shop around and them claiming it's a good deal is just marketing. No sensible salesmen will claim to their consumers that they have bad prices. So them claiming it's a good deal I can't hold against them, if they didn't they wouldn't be doing their job. People should simply shop around.
@@relo999 on the consumer and on the influencers posing whats actually advertising as not advertising. That latter part can only be called by journos and other influencers really.
Another concern is the sales they claim to have, which never seem to go away, implying it's being put on sale from a price it was never gonna be to begin with to trick people, which is VERY illegal in Canada and Australia. Can't confirm if it's true, but something people have pointed out
As long as DKoldies continues to claim their consoles and controllers are refurbished and don't actually refurb them , it's a scam . People figure that into the high prices . They seal the consoles so you're afraid that you can't even check inside without voiding the warranty and that is sketchy as hell .
Sosa Games and DK Oldies probably bought 1/3 of my video game inventory from ebay for ebay value a few years ago. Sosa still buys from me pretty much anytime I list anything. Always surprised me people would go to their website and pay more.
I think one of the reasons DKOldies has been getting so much attention is because they've been pushing their advertising a lot more lately. Google something like 'retro video games' and DKO is like the 2nd or 3rd choice that pops up (my bet is they hired an SEO firm or something). Combine that with the big push from their social media (particularly TikTok), and you get a lot more people just discovering how over-priced they are.
The reason they get so much attention is that new UA-camrs know for a fact a "DKOldies is a scam" videos will get views, views = money. That's it. Everyone is jumping on that bandwagon.
@@gordonshumway7465 That's part of it, sure, but DKO is also pushing themselves into the public more and more as I just said, and that's going to get more conversation going. There can be more than one reason.
@@jonnynemesis When it comes to UA-camrs there is only one reason: Money. Why do you think they have Patreon accounts? This is how they make money, so they will do whatever they can to get views/ad revenue. Period. If you think these people care about retro gaming or you you're wrong. It's 100% about money. Period.
@@jonnynemesis Ignore it. Folks like that are in every comments section in a video about DKoldies. I've personally begun to believe that they either have folks on staff or hired some firm to come into comments sections and just say weird shit to discredit the bad press or defend DKoldies. No way does a company that's pricing things so poorly and don't do what they advertise with refurbishing have this kind of army of defenders.
At this point I've seen several videos from Jacob R covering refurb'd units from DKOldies and it seems like that they aren't doing due diligence in making sure units are actually being refurbished. They're overpriced yeah, but as yall said, there's plenty of other options out there to get stuff from
I think part of it is also the massive amount of growth the retro scene has had in the past couple of years. The pandemic brought in a lot of people to the fold that other wise wouldn't have been. Sure a certain amount have fallen off already but there's always a group of people hanging on that are still learning about this stuff.
I think the bigger point most have been making recently about DK Oldies is how they call their consoles and misc gear "Refurbished". It's absolutely a scam to charge $300 for a refurbished NES, having them stick a warranty sticker over the screw holes, and then you, opening it and finding a layer of dust, grime and dried soda all caked to the motherboard. And this hasn't been just a few isolated incidents, there have been dozens of people who have posted videos breaking the warranty seal and finding absolutel filth underneath and the console being untouched on the insides.
@@backlogbuddies Yeah, even DK Oldies knows those stickers don't mean crap. I think they just put them on there hoping to scare people off of trying to open the console and it probably works on a lot of people
People are saying its a scam mostly because of the fact that their "refurbished" consoles are not in fact refurbished, not in good condition despite claiming to be, or not working at all. Just search DK Oldies scam. The research seems really surface level despite the title of this video.
Completely missed the point as to why people are mad about DKOldies… It’s not because of the prices they set. Everyone already knows they mark up the price way too much for their stuff. It’s the fact that they charge more money for systems that are “refurbished”, when in reality they barely touch them before reselling. They barely even clean them, much less crack them open and actually fix and refurbish the consoles. If they gave descriptions of the issues these consoles have and advertised them as “pre-owned” or “used”, and still charged so much for them, it would be fucked up, but at that point it’s on the person buying them. It’s the fact that they are lying about the conditions of their consoles, and instead of taking responsibility and making moves to do better, they dance around the issue.
I always thought DK oldies was the place you went to if you wanted something right away without looking, with thr knowledge you were paying more to avoid waiting.
I buy nes games from them on occasion. Been decently priced for what I needed. I mean I could spend weeks saving $3 on teenage mutant ninja turtles and hope the game shows up on my step or I could just get it in 3 days no issues. That's been my experience.
Exactly. Their prices aren't that far off from many modern retro game shops, at least ones I've seen lately. The only people who are mad about their prices are the ones who already know where to look for a deal. Casual buyers clearly have no problem paying their prices, seeing as how they've stayed in business for so long. Some things just aren't worth fighting. If you don't like it, just look the other way, because casual buyers will not listen and not care.
No. There are other ways to get that game or consoles right away for less. Go to double jump games. They rock! Prices are good and they let you know exactly what ur buying
I can confidently say that NBA 2K improved my basketball IQ tenfold. Also all the Super Mario Bros games taught me patience and how to regulate inner rage to accomplish a goal because it requires a pragmatic approach. However, I do believe each individual's brain processes video games differently, so some may use it as a tool to learn and others may just use it as an escape. Definitely a case by case situation.

While the physics of virtual pinball has greatly improved, there are certain advanced flipper skills that still can only be performed on real pinball machines. Also virtual pin lacks the ability to make a game more challenging by adjusting outlane posts, taking rubbers away or lessening/increasing the overall slope of the machine. Finally, the shot accuracy in virtual pin does not have the variance that a real machine has. That all being said whatever gets and keeps people playing pinball is okay with me.
The problem isn't that they're overpriced, it's that they lie about what they're selling. They claim that they open and refurbish their consoles, yet they don't, and people are repeatedly receiving broken and filthy "refurbished" consoles. It's weird that you guys act like you're experts on the situation yet you completely misrepresent it.
Never bought from DK myself. I felt they were similar to the GameStop we "know and love" today -- sarcasm intended. I have been tempted to sell systems in to them, but haven't stepped to the plate yet.
You guys also forgot to mention DK Oldies always pretend to mark down consoles, are never fully clear with the specs and types of material they sell, and routinely fail to maintain quality control with their items. To overcharge is one thing. But to do that and be a subpar seller while suckering in the unaware is a whole other. DK Oldies might not be illegal, but they're so awful maybe they should be
I was looking at DKoldies buy sheet and prices. They seem to not have much of a mark up on games vs what they offer to buy, $5 to $10. But the consoles and bundles are marked up 4 times what they offer to pay but no one is forcing them to buy from them. DKoldies could use some confidence right now from people complaining about nothing.
The DK Oldies talk isn't blowing up because someone made a complaint video, they've been pumping out tons of Marketing materials via tiktok, Facebook, and UA-cam with Joey wrapping and packing stuff. Then people go to their site after getting caught by the algorithm and see the prices suck and make a video on it
I haven't been into collecting long, buying an NES about 6 months ago, but I didn't realize that Lukie Games had been around that long. That's kinda cool. I just happened to come across them on ebay while looking for games and have bought from them several times now. I've been happy with their prices and what I've received. But yeah, on retro stuff, ebay is definitely the way to go. I've had only really 1 bad experience with items never shipping, but ebay gave me a refund with zero hassle.
Love this video: the variety of questions was really fun. Regarding the educational aspect of video games, I agree that games aren't necessarily the best way to learn school subjects, but I imagine that they can be helpful to people trying to learn a second language; I began to feel more comfortable with Japanese after playing DQXIS, Yakuza 7, and Yakuza 0 with Japanese audio and English subtitles. Hearing that much dialogue with that amount of story/character investment helped. I think where games can really shine is in imparting healthy life lessons, ala myths. Almost every game has a literary theme now, but instead of just passively reading or watching it, the player actively participates, which makes the lesson all the more potent. Even games where the story isn't the primary focus can do this well: A Hat in Time (for example) teaches that relationships are redeemable; that working positively with others (even if the aims are selfish) and treating them as they're your equals is better morally than trying to force your vision of good on everyone else. Lots of other stories have focused on that same lesson, but many of them come off as ham-fisted; whereas A Hat in Time only reveals this at the final boss battle, where it can have the largest effect.
DK Oldies buys a ton of stuff from me on eBay. Always at market value, they always pay me promptly. It’s crazy that their prices are so high that they can source eBay straight up, but good for them (and me since they keep buying my doubles).
I haven't seen the segment yet, but I find all of the DKOldies content hilarious. A store massively overpricing items is not a scam. It's just a bad store with a large presence. Stores like these exist everywhere. The simple solution is to not give them any of your business.
I actually do buy from Lukie every so often, and I've been generally happy with my purchases from them. They aren't the only ones I buy from, but they are often an option for me for certain games.
Sad to see the end of the podcast. It will be missed! CUP fans, can you recommend other weekly podcasts on UA-cam that covers similar topics for my retro and some modern gaming news/info? I don't need all the wrestling coverage though! Lol 😆
So weird that DKOldies' prices are just now being criticized after all of these years. DKO has been around forever, and their prices have always been terrible. Nothing shocking about that at all.
I guess they started getting noticed more because they were getting noticed on Tick Toc and someone made a video about them which got noticed and so a bunch of people jumped on the bandwagon because easy views.
I think part of it was years ago there was more places that weren't following the trend of bs prices and now that greed and speculation has taken over the hobby they're being criticised for starting the trend and others following suit.
Controversy isn't the pricing or at least not entirely. It's the liberal use of the term "refurbish" when they haven't even bothered to clean the thing and selling you stuff at 2x ebay while bundling consoles with shitty 3rd party controllers and questionable power bricks.
@@devilmikey00 Oh, that's interesting. Surprisingly, a lot of the coverage I've seen has focused more on pricing. Makes sense, if you're paying a premium price for stuff, you have every right to expect components to be in good condition and as described. Slipping in cheap 3rd party stuff as a bait and switch is definitely unscrupulous unless it's clearly stated that's what being offered.
Rich from review tech and several other big streamers and content creators have put dkoldies on blast very recently, even going to the extent of showing how nasty the so-called refurbished consoles were that they bought.
In NC there is a pretty good Retro Video Game Store called Video Game World that started with one location and now is up to 4 locations in the state I think. They are doing something right and they price things very accurately.
On the aspect of video games being educational I believe I was in the higher percentile on those old standardized tests in grade/middle school because I played every RPG I could growing up, I could be 100% wrong tho🤷♂️
Coleco got into video games because in the 1950's they were into leather kits for kids which led into other toys in other materials. By the 1970's and 1980's they were a big toy maker and like the other toy makers they were interested in video games. They were also making other big toys in the 1980's like Cabbage Patch Kids.
I’ve only had good experiences with DK oldies. I got into GameCube collecting before the 20 year nostalgia cycle hit it, and it started to get expensive, and I bought a few games and accessories off DK oldies because the retro stores near me barely stocked GameCube stuff at all, and the DK oldies prices were on par with ebay prices, at least for GC stuff, and I was very impressed by their customer service the one time I had to use it.
As others have said. I don’t think the “scam” label came from just the price, rather the price in combination with them selling something that’s “refurbished” with their seal of approval on it yet the device is completely swirled out with scratches, packed to the brim with dust and thermal paste completely dry and cracked out. With that said, their prices are bullshit as well and pray on people that either have more money than sense or simply don’t know any better. As far as I’m concerned they’re part of the problem with the retro game market prices becoming inflated AF. If they can’t sustain how large their business is without charging obscene prices maybe they should review how they’re operating..
I had an experience where I bought an NES and the gold Zelda games from DK, but the NES didn’t work with those games or my other games. I told customer service and they quickly shipped another NES. It was kind of a bummer but I appreciate the customer service, and overall they were very friendly and professional.
The problem I have with DKOldies is you don't know what you're getting, their photos are stock photos only and you don't know what kind of label damage, manual damage etc. you're getting. (I've only bought from them on eBay) It's the same issue with lukie and gamestop. If you get an imperfect game you can bitch about it and get it replaced but they bank on you not wanting to hassle over it. Small eBay sellers and local game shops are WYSIWYG.
A big part of video games are learning different rules and how the individual games work. I works say most workers now a day need to jump between disparate tasks so video games prepare you for that. Gaming also helps train people how to be patient and understand you have to put in time to get better. I see a lot of people at work give up on sharing because they aren't good at something right off the bat.
Wait the weekly podcast is ending? I hope it's going to be every other week or once a month at least?! And yes getting rid of FOMO is a great way to manage your collecting.
Wished I could’ve participated in the marathons more over the years. Those were good fun! Never forget those Bills vs Giants Tecmo Bowl games, ..Ian “I almost threw the controller!” while Pat laughing his ass off!
I have got some killer deals from JJ games both on price charting and on eBay. Somehow I picked up two boxed copies (one sealed) of Game of Harmony for the OG gameboy for $17ea on Amazon. You just have to be willing to wait and dig if you want deals.
20:00 DKoldies are also popping up all over on Facebook reels now. And yes it's a scaam when you say you sell refirbished systems and actually ship out dirty ones and not reading the games. I think you need to look up what reburshied actually means. Although I agree on the prices tho, you need to shop around obviously, you as the consumer make the desicion on how much you spend, but seeling a dirty console as refurshied is just not oke.
One thing when collecting to remember is....nothing will get you in debt quicker than good deals....you think omg I cant wait, I might not find a deal like this again.
Sorry, but DK oldies is absolutely ridiculous. I hate them so much. They’re outrageously overpriced regardless of how many content creators have covered the topic.
I have to comment on this DK Oldies thing. I noticed one UA-camrs making a video and all of sudden there’s a shit load of video trying to bring them down. I’ve sold items to them on eBay. They pay. They have expenses. If you think they are high don’t buy from them. These are the same people who complain about how much they get when they trade a game to Game Stop and get just a few dollars.
I wish sponsors would realize that hearing people read a script makes me absolutely want nothing to do with said product. I’m sure I’m not the only one and it’s not just Ian and pat it’s any time there’s a straight obvious script
dk oldies showed up on my radar because the youtube algorithm kept throwing dk promos in the 'youtube shorts' section, multiple videos everyday. one of my common video tags was 'video games' or retro so i'd assume anyone who commonly watched retro stuff had seen them in the shorts section[or more likely they've gained an audience through tiktok] and thus you've got people googling to see if their legit than mocking their prices without much of a background in business. sooo yeah i feel like they've just became a 'content creator topic' due to their increased exposure through current social media sites. yes they're overpriced, but like any store that specializes in one thing there's inevitably an upcharge for the customer convenience factor : for example most the band-aids/gauze/aspirin/shampoo/etc from cvs[or jewel] can be bought at a dollar store for a 1/6th the price. the main negative i can give them is the inconsistent approach to 'refurbishing,' but that's honestly nothing new in the second-hand market just look up gamestop refurbs on yt.
It's not that they are overcharging for retro consoles, it's that they are promoting it as a refurbished product and they are selling it on a lie and not adressing the problem
Like every store, DKOldies has some overpriced things and some great deals. I felt they were comparable to eBay for the most part. They also have free shipping (probably why consoles cost more) where a lot of stores get you on that. Also being able to choose the condition that affects the final price is something I wish all stores would do. If you know what you're doing, that can be a great place to get games.
I live in western Canada and have a way nicer collection than anything DKOldies is offering. If someone wants something clean and working, I can easily beat DK Oldie prices.
Couple of thoughts on the collecting thing we all gotta do what works best for us dont make urself feel bad for gettin good deals we all have hobbies i collect many different things whether its old magazines vinyl movies ext you do have to find the balance that works for you.. i agree with ian on the dk oldies thing I'm 23 and while at times i think people my age dont get the credit we deserve in some regards bc alot of us are very astute and mature. I get why older generations make fun of some are age bc seems like they can't think for themselves there's always some new little trend everyone has to follow but that's been going on for decades so..
I found it funny because of this drama with DKOldies people tried going after lukie games calling it a scam because they found cleaning residue in the game console from a cleaner. I have bought from lukie games before I did have to clean the crap because they didn't but I didn't expect them to do so.
DK Oldies is a reputable site. You pay for this. Yes, I can spend 400 hours looking for titles a yard sales and save 95%. I can try to snipe a deal off Marketplace - incredibly hard to do with the 100+ other deal snipers in my area. I can buy off ebay and pay "retail" but take a risk there is a problem and then have to sort out the frustration with ebay Resolution - and hope the seller actually mails it on time, etc. Or, if I just want to buy something with some certainty of a positive result, and don't want the headache, I pay a premium for a site like DK Oldies. We can also look for Porsches in barns for a decade to get a deal but sometimes you have to realize these are different services for different types of clients.
I use Lukie games to purchase games and accessories. They resurfaced their game discs and if a game doesn't work, you just email them and they send you another one for free without question. They have pretty fast shipping and great prices.
DKO is not a scam because prices. They are a scam because they are selling stuff as refurbish and cleaned. And not even open the system to do anything.
I don't think it is a "scam" because they aren't intentionally selling counterfeits, doing some drop shipping shenanigans, or secretly charging or enrolling people without consent. That being said, I think they get suckers who are too lazy to look for the beat deal or uninformed wealthy people like a grandma looking to get her grandkid an old Mario game having no clue what the market value is.
DK Oldies came up because they started doing low effort TikToks and UA-cam Shorts which kept popping up for people. That’s what put the sights on them.
Holy crap man 6 months of expenses saved up I don't think I've ever had that in my entire life. Wish I had the privilege but even tho me and the wife work full time we still live check to check
Learning how to budget is key for that if you aren't used to it. But its true, some people can't make enough money to save anything really for a rainy day. Only thing you can really do is try to find a better paying job in that case, but if you do you should live the exact same why you are now so that the increased income can be used to pay down debts and go into savings/investments.
The problem is that they claim stuff is refurbished and that's why they over price stuff. But apparently a lot of theiur stuff isnt even refurbished so it is actually a scam
Sure charge more for a specific game. But, when you Jack the price of something into the sky by calling it refurbished and the customer receives a plastic box of dust, then there’s a problem.
It kinda sucks for retro game collecting now since everything is pretty expensive for what you are looking for. I personally would not go to dk oldies for anything but if I have to I will.

I was surprised when I learned that Fry's Electronics began as a grocery store that started selling electronics on the side.

Amazon started selling refurbished menstrual pads
Another concern is the sales they claim to have, which never seem to go away, implying it's being put on sale from a price it was never gonna be to begin with to trick people, which is VERY illegal in Canada and Australia. Can't confirm if it's true, but something people have pointed out
As long as DKoldies continues to claim their consoles and controllers are refurbished and don't actually refurb them , it's a scam . People figure that into the high prices . They seal the consoles so you're afraid that you can't even check inside without voiding the warranty and that is sketchy as hell .
Exactly
Period.
@@gordonshumway7465 You okay man? Is everything going alright?
@@jonnynemesis Ignore it. Folks like that are in every comments section in a video about DKoldies. I've personally begun to believe that they either have folks on staff or hired some firm to come into comments sections and just say weird shit to discredit the bad press or defend DKoldies. No way does a company that's pricing things so poorly and don't do what they advertise with refurbishing have this kind of army of defenders.
"I'm not defending DK Oldies"
*immediately starts defending DK Oldies*
At this point I've seen several videos from Jacob R covering refurb'd units from DKOldies and it seems like that they aren't doing due diligence in making sure units are actually being refurbished. They're overpriced yeah, but as yall said, there's plenty of other options out there to get stuff from
That dude will never stop milking the DKOldies gravy train.
Those warranty seals are illegal. Ask AMD and Nvidia how that went, ha
@@backlogbuddies Yeah, even DK Oldies knows those stickers don't mean crap. I think they just put them on there hoping to scare people off of trying to open the console and it probably works on a lot of people
@@TooBokoo judging by the comments here they're scaring people away.
People are saying its a scam mostly because of the fact that their "refurbished" consoles are not in fact refurbished, not in good condition despite claiming to be, or not working at all. Just search DK Oldies scam. The research seems really surface level despite the title of this video.
Completely missed the point as to why people are mad about DKOldies…
It’s not because of the prices they set.
Yeah everyone is piling on. People are changing the definition of scam. It’s not a scam if you’re not fooled and you’re not lied to.
Lol I commented before I got to that part of the video. So glad Ian and Pat had the same sentiment.
I hope that Pat does a biweekly or monthly answering of voicemails after ending the weekly podcasts

DK Oldies might not be illegal, but they're so awful maybe they should be
They need better oversight. They need better transparency. And they need better quality of service
Then people go to their site after getting caught by the algorithm and see the prices suck and make a video on it
The problem with DKOldies is not the price but that they sell products as refurbished when they are not. That's the scam.
Guys, please don’t leave!
Lukie is great
The assassin's Creed series taught me so much about the Crusades, renaissance and the colonial era. The very definition of educational
This is my second episode, are they done? That would be a shame.
The DKOldies scam isn't pricing, it's the fact that they ship out untouched consoles as refurbished.
You just have to be willing to wait and dig if you want deals.
it was able to get in the cycle like this because of DKOldies social medias going viral recently
He's a scalper. He buys up all product and sells at exorbitant prices.
Wait the podcast is ending? Noooooooo 😭
Game store by me was a board game shop that dove into video games.
Actually a board game/card game café started selling retro games locally. But there's not much around me other than pawn shops
I keep hearing about Lukie games, and from what I have seen price wise, they have better prices. Cool video. ^_^
Agree, expensive doesn't mean scam.
I love playing pinball but where I live, the best pinball place (flippers bar and arcade) is a 2 hours drive from where my wife and I live.
Thank you Pat and Ian for spicing up my bedroom life 🤞✌👉👆
the price is not an issue if people are willing to pay, and they get what they pay for
I was waiting to hear your opinions on DK. Please don't stop 😔
The mechanics of a pinball table provides physics that can not be emulated. Stuff like sticky parts, wear, etc. not the same in virtual.
One thing when collecting to remember is....nothing will get you in debt quicker than good deals....you think omg I cant wait, I might not find a deal like this again.
I would love to see another NES marathon 🙌🏼
Paying $25 for a "normal" Tetris plus $20 for send, this is ridiculous
Once again Pat misses the mark and doesn’t understand what the problem is.
I live near digital press and their prices have skyrocketed. I will not longer shop there. I shop level one games instead more competitive pricing.
Video starts at 2:16.
Love that Digital Press is still alive and kicking
I'll miss the weekly podcast
Like every store, DKOldies has some overpriced things and some great deals. I felt they were comparable to eBay for the most part. They also have free shipping (probably why consoles cost more) where a lot of stores get you on that. Also being able to choose the condition that affects the final price is something I wish all stores would do. If you know what you're doing, that can be a great place to get games.
I live in western Canada and have a way nicer collection than anything DKOldies is offering. If someone wants something clean and working, I can easily beat DK Oldie prices.
I knew there would be a podcast on this.
Ordered DK once and the console came in covered in dust even though it was labeled refurbished
It’s not a new thing. People talking about it is good.
The Intellivision Amico was bad enough...erectile disfunction is a lot worse lol love your videos Pat and Ian. The community needs you guys :)
DKO is not a scam because prices. They are a scam because they are selling stuff as refurbish and cleaned. And not even open the system to do anything.
I found estarland had great prices. But they have been out of stock the last year.
Can I pay money for weekly podcasts? I really love this show can you please reconsider
Geez ian...hope you're doing good bud. Looking a bit different these days, hope your health is alright
I don’t understand the whole “controversy” with DKOldies. Just like EBay, you don’t hafta buy from them if you think they’re overpriced.
The problem is that they claim stuff is refurbished and that's why they over price stuff. But apparently a lot of theiur stuff isnt even refurbished so it is actually a scam
I take some RexMD for nights long of retro gaming fun.
We've gotten to the point where balls feel good. 😂
You are completely missing the point, it's not that they are expensive, it's that they are not refurbished. Maybe you should actually watch the videos instead of reading headlines.
Oh no! I absolutely love DKOldies… but I mostly use LukieGames
Stop simping for Joey. They overcharge and lie about refurbishing.
I just buy my used games directly from people selling them on fb, kijjiji, Craigslist etc. I don't need a middleman to buy games
