That dark wall and small rug at the dining table is SO effective is creating a distinct “zone,” which feels intimate and moody in contrast to the open and airy living space. Beautiful!!

I love the words alkoven, bold, moody and your calming voice saying them! And makeovers are my favorite. I had a difficult day planning my balcony makeover but finally I made the necessary decision to get rid of my big flowers boxes which also were there for stoping people gazing into my space which still made me uncomfortable. I wanted to replace them but after shuffling out a small amount of potting soil I decided not to do that every year again. All the shopping for potting soil taking to the 3rd floor and renewing it every year, noo! So I go with a willow privacy screen which is even higher than the old flower boxes and slowly adding some plants I can carry and water easily. It is a hard decision because I had vegetables here nice flowers but the last year it was already a problem to water them with 40 degrees every single day I also thought very often I can’t go on vacation because after that my balcony plants are dead! So no more cleaning the potting soil of the ground, no heavy watering every day, nice privacy which in the end was the most important one for me to even go and relax on the balcony. I still have to carry all the old potting soil downstairs but I already started and I am happy. And the willow privacy screen is so cheap I finally can get a food rest which I need for my back.
