Just some context: - This cinematic takes place BEFORE the ones from Battle for Azeroth (the ones with the orc, where Sylvanas was the "bad guy") - The human in this cinematic is the father of the blonde young guy in Battle for Azeroth cinematic (if you pay attention, the shoulders of this man are lions. And the boy's helmet is a lion too). That is why he has the sword now, and that's why his son has it in the future. - Here the 2 main factions of the story (the Horde and the Alliance) are fighting together because an external threat. After this expansion (Legion), when the threat is defeated, these 2 factions go back to war (Battle for Azeroth, where Azeroth is the name of the "planet") - At this point, Sylvanas was the Horde's warchief, but in Battle for Azeroth she betrays her own people (that's why the orcs confronted her and she escaped flying) I hope you understand a little bit more of the lore now. Also, the initial "my son" in this cinematic is a reference to the Lich King cinematic ;)
Actually very slight correction, voljin is warchief during this cinematic, Muehzala tricks voljin into appointing sylvanas warchief while voljin is dying. Voljin dies days after this cinematic in in game time.
Chris, there's a new WoW CG cinematic premiering on November 15th, for Dragonflight's launch. Would be awesome to get your reaction to that, too :) Take care man, all the best!
YES!!! You should definitely do a reaction to the Dragonflight cinematic (it's truly EPIC) and the new one "Return to the skies" that premieres on November 15!
Wait what? I follow all news and I have not seen this information. There is a launch stream as far as I remember. With devs and community members I'd guess.
Chris Connor+WoW is an instant click when I see it on my notifications, love these reactions and analyses so much! I'm not even interested in doing filmmaking, but I follow hypnotized everything you say and I never lose track, that's because I'm a detailed-obsessed person, and I see very clearly and easily what you describe, and with your description of a shot,a cut,the lighting of a scene, you remind me of how those made me feel
I still remember a Graphics Panel they had at a BlizzCon the year they released this cinematic. They had some new InGame tech that allowed for them to render hills and silouettes much further away than before which would impact how they designed the world going forward. They also spoke about this cinematic and some "Behind the Scenes-trivia". The Alliance Airship the humans are on was a 20Gb file on its own, and each frame took abotu 14-16hrs to render just the airship.
My absolute favorite cinematic from is "Rejection of the Gift", which is also from Legion, it has a ton of small details that you could dissect. You could totally go through the Legion cinematics in order and make an awesome video of that.
Seconded. I love the detail of Turalyon's eyes losing the yellow from being manipulated by the Naaru/light, and how they zoomed in more and more on the Naaru until it started becoming "uncomfortable" to the viewer, and then it started shaking when it spoke.
Hi Chris! Yes we did beat her in the game and there is a cinematic for it Look up "sylvanas defeat cinematic" and also another cinematic that follows after that one called "Sylvanas Shattered legacies"
What you must know about this guy in the cinematic, is he was one of the most respected human on Azeroth, who also had an Orc name, and it's a great word. You must see the cinematic when he sacraficed himself, one of the most dramatic one what blizzard make: broken shore alliance cinematic.
They made some shorts explaining some dragon lore. And if you want some more action, try the Legion ingame cinematic, feat. the sword guy after this film
The Legion cinematic feels short because it is unique in that it is act one in a three act story, but with act two being gameplay and act 3 an ingame cinematic (Blizzard did it as an experiment, and for the players it worked out beautifully). The full story is: Act 1: Legion cinematic (Arrival at Broken Shore) Act 2: Gameplay scenario (Assault on the Broken Shore) Act 3: Ingame Broken Shore cinematic (Triumph of the Legion) It is also very tied to previous WoW lore, which means people unfamiliar with WoW lore get a short but pretty cool cinematic, but doesn’t give that much to someone seeing it for the first time without context. Players on the other hand gets so much more from this. They would instantly recognize the voice speaking as that of Varian Wrynn, king of Stormwind and leader of the Alliance. They would also recognize the green flashes (and the name of the expansion; Legion) as portraying a demon invasion from the Burning Legion. This has happened twice before in Azeroth’s history and both were world-changing events. In addition to that, the opening lines “My son…” is an echo/reference to the Wrath of the Lich King cinematic where a king speaks to his son, the Prince. But then the two cinematics diverge drastically. Watching the gameplay footage will not really be relevant for filmmaker analysis, but I would recommend you watching and analyzing the Broken Shore ingame cinematic (preferably one that splices together the Horde and Alliance versions, because they have slight differences), since it is so closely tied to this pre-rendered cinematic.
A little more context on this one: - When you played the beginning of the Legion expansion, you as the player (on horde and alliance) are sent to this battle to stop the demon invasion. You go through the process of being briefed on the mission, getting prepared with materials and then shipping out. When you do, you're treated to this cinematic, introducing the fight. - Once you land on the island, you fight up the beach to a choke point where two groups, one of each faction are fighting a boss on opposite sides of a lake of fire. - After he's defeated both armies progress towards the invasion point. The Horde take the high ground with Sylvanas and her archers, and the Alliance take move head on. - The high ground support gets overrun, and the Horde warcheif Voljin is fatally stabbed. They fall back. - Varian, the human king of this cinematic is unfortunately killed in a blaze of glory. Both the horde and the alliance lose their leaders this day.
you could watch"warbringer Jaina/Sylvanas/Azshara"! that is a total diffrent way to make cinematic/anime! also.. i think you would be better react if you know the background storylines
One of my favorites cinematics, For Azeroth! My King Varian, and just for your information there're 2 more CGI cinematics from the new expansion Dragonflight, and it will be good that you watch the short animated films, like "The burdens of Shaohao", "Lords of War", "Harbringers", "Warbringers", etc, and the In-game cinematics, at least the ones from of Legion, "Triumph of the Legion", "Rejection of the Gift" and the final cinematic are my personal favorites In-game cinematics of Legion...
Glad to see new stuff from you, if you still have interested to see more from wow you should definately check out the ingame cinematics, they continue with the storys and characters in those cinematic like for example what happens with King Varian (That dude with the sword in this trailer). They are also really well made and emotional, but they are in the ingame graphic styles which may look abit different for you but still really worth watching.
they have a whole lot of cinematics to react to. theres many that are part of a questline between slyvanas, anduin, varok saurfang, and green jesus Thrall
I've always wondered when you'd get around to checking this one out. I was beginning to think you forgot it existed.. This is one of the best expansions Wow ever made before things went downhill.
To Add to Tom Hoffs comment the rejection of the gift is also one my favourite in game cinematics, but it would be really cool to see you react to all of them.
One of the better expansions of the game. It had its flaws, but was an enjoyable play from start to finish. Moreover, we didnt know back then the abomination it would become later on, aka the Afrasiabi era.
We did beat Sylvanas but Blizzard pulled their "typical fast one" and disallowed us the kill. They made a last minute deus ex machina "but wat about her undead sOuL" type of deal. I've almost erased the whole story from my memory. You just reminded me. :P I love this cinematic though. I know for many just this cinematic alone isn't so good, but I absolutely LOVE the build-up soundtrack for Legion. This expansion was by far the best "produced" expansion since Wrath of the Lich King. You can really follow along with a lot of the story through awesome in-game cinematics.
I'm not gonna go into Detail how Sylvanas became sane again (That part is extremely unpopular) but she is currently working on her very long task/punishment to save every innocent Soul from the Maw. It was her fault that many inoccent Souls went there in the 1st place. Check out "Warbringers: Sylvanas"
RIP for all 3 TVs, they gave it there all, the main TV...uhhh, very interesting way of breaking it ...2nd TV...got destroyed by falling wood, 3rd TV...you had to save Anakin...this one may end tragically..but we shall see.
You really need to watch the ingame cinematics from Legion. "Rejection of the Gift" or "Broken Shore" both version at best or only the alliance version. :D That build from this cin
