My biggest complaint is when a small group of complainers change what I have come to love, and expect from Silver Dollar City. The reason I keep returning to Silver Dollar City is because of ma, the use of firearms for stage show and prop purposes, and the corny jokes. If I want a Six Flags style theme park experience, then I will go to Six Flags. Keep Silver Dollar City as Silver Dollar City.

Late to this video, but I was at work today and the question "What's your first memory?" came up. Then we had a discussion about how to define "first memory." I remember riding the train at SDC when I was probably 6 or 7 years old. We came up from Texas with our grandparents and parents. The actors at the time chose my grandmother to be Ma. It was funny, and my usually very straightlaced grandmother was bright pink at the end. It was a good laugh. It seems that the park has changed since I was a kid. Sad to hear.

I love the "Ma" joke when I was at Silver Dollar City. One time I was on the train, "Ma" claimed the boys and all the actors started laughing so much they couldn't continue the set. It was great!

I'm not a big sports fan but even I got the baseball jokes. Might help that I've lived in Cleveland suburbs all my life... I nearly did a spit take when you said "dad jokes" because maybe 15 minutes before I watched this I was talking to my wife about me liking your sense of humor & you using that term! :)

OH my goodness!! The Yankee joke is my absolute FAVORITE out of the whole show!!!!
We've been riding the train since before I was born and it's one of my absolute favorite part of SDC!! But I really miss the guns and the ma joke and everything that was so classic.
I also love how you talk about how normal guns are in the south XD

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  5 років тому +7

Honestly the gun thing was something we had to adjust to a little bit ourselves. Having grown up and lived in California most of my life, then living in Florida for several years, while I knew people who had guns and hunted it wasn't part of "normal" life like it is in Missouri. But I've come to realize that I like that part of the midwest and south much better- far more common sense and better adjusting to guns so they play a proper role in society instead of the almost paranoid fear of them I saw in some places.

Silver Dollar City want a crowd fund for accurate firearms, I am in. Where i come from, hunting means 100 to 200 pounds of meat and we pass it out to aunts and uncles or other family. We all do Hunter Safety Courses by the State and if we smart off Father ir Uncle would remind us quick to respect guns.

I was maybe 6 and I can't remember who was robbing the train. I absolutely loved the ma bit and miss it. I SDC is where my family would meet up sometimes for weekends. One weekend my great aunt and uncle came. I wasn't sitting in the same row as them, but my great aunt got picked. I don't know what made me do it but I said, "That isn't your ma!" I can't remember what all I said and I was just saying that is my aunt not your ma. I remember being really embarrassed that night after we got home. Lol

, I worked for Six Flags Over Texas in the mid-late 1970's as a Riverboat Spieler on LaSalle's River Adventure. We were given a script by the park. In 1978, the script talked about the diet of the Karankawa tribe. It mentioned that they ate boiled earthworms and raw fish. Some guests complained to Guest Relations that we were disparaging the native Americans with lies about their diet. Park management threw us under the bus and claimed that the employee had "gone off script". The spieler (in question) was never identified so nobody got fired...but from that point on, we knew that we couldn't count on management.

One "complaint" I have is one year, my family was getting in line/going into the depot, and there was almost literally no other guests there. My dad, sister and I were just at the door, and the person at the front/conductor, saw my mom dip under to catch up with us. He made her get out, and weave the whole way back to the front, because "what lesson was she teaching her kids by jumping the line." We thought he was joking at first because we have never been spoken to poorly there and because like I said, no one was there and she wasn't cutting, plus when you get into the depot...you can go wherever you want anyways... 🙄 In my whole 24 years of going there, I have had that, and maybe 2 other bad experiences, but people are probably just having a bad day is what I try to tell myself

When I was in Disney world, my fiancee's sense of humor wasnt working. In the middle of the animal kingdom safari, i decided to sing Pumbaa's "When i was a young warthog!" from the lion King as we passed some warthogs. The entire car started laughing, except my fiancee. She FLIPPED OUT. "YOU DONT DO THAT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TOUR YOURE GONNA GET US KICKED OUT OF THE PARK! THAT WAS HORRIBLE ANYWAY AND YOU TOTALLY MISSED THAT NOTE!" Etc etc etc. The tour guide cast member didnt laugh because "I hear that at least four times a week" and i looked at my fiancee and was like "did you notice how the entire car laughed except you? I dont know about you, but other people apparently thought that was funny. Sorry your sense of humor is out of the office right now" but it was just a stupid thing for her to go off on me about. And she used her lack of coffee as an excuse. Im a coffee addict myself, ive been through coffee withdrawl but i still have a sense of humor.

Sometimes you just have an off day and that thing that you've heard a hundred times isn't funny at that moment. It's new and original to everyone around, but not to you. It happens. They probably could have smiled, but at the same time I totally understand where they are coming from. But not worth "going off on you".

My favorite complaint came from when I worked as a mechanic on Time Traveler. Older lady in her late fifties came off the ride, recognized my maintenance uniform, and angrily goes, “This ride spins too much, you need to make it spin slower.” To which I responded, “Ma’am, if we slowed the spin any more, there’d be no spin.”

Indigenous children were taken from their families sent to a residential school until 1996. Their heads were forceably shaved and they were beaten on a daily basis. Many were sexually assaulted. Indigenous people are still brutally attacked for defending their homelands against illegal construction. Just look at what happened at the Unisto'ot'en raid just one or two weeks ago. But thank you for putting things in perspective. I know understand that out of this situation you're the real victim of society. Some guy on the internet is asked to stop using a slurs.

not a ride, but some parents seem to think dog parks are petting zoos. I told a parent that no your kid can not pet my beagle. she is very nervous around kids and I don't want to stress her out. they got very angry with me, told me that I was being mean and that all dogs should be fair game to be pet or hugged by their kid. I now have a fenced in back yard for my dogs to run around in peace.

Years ago at a McDonalds I heard a man complaining about the chicken nuggets. Of course, there are legitimate complaints such as the nuggets being raw or partially frozen. However, the man's problem with the nuggets was that they weren't all the same shape.

Love it! Had to laugh when you mentioned a .410 shotgun. For those that don't know - a .410 shotgun is basically only good for squirrels or rabbits. I shoot skeet every weekend. Yes I use a 12 gauge. Political correctness drives me nuts. I know you talk about SDC in this video but we've definitely seen the re-tailoring of the Disney properties over the years as well.
