    My sister worked at Six Flags Fiesta. She got asked where the Disney Characters were in a Six Flags park where there mascots are Looney Tunes.

    this has nothing to do with Disney but whenever I hear you talk about "how do I get to Sea World" and other non Disney parks. it always makes me think of this. I was one day at Home Depo with my sister and I said to her "we should be able to find it at Lowes" and the Home Depo worker said "please don't curse in my store" making a joke of Lowes was a curse word and I thought it was a funny outside of the parks connection

    Also where I work at a location right next to the boathouse, and when people come up to me and ask “where is the boathouse?” And you can literally see the giant sign right where I’m standing

    I used to be a cast member on an attraction at Disneyland Paris and I was asked all the time 'where are the rides?' Another common one was people coming up to me and asking if they could cut the line because they 'didn't want to wait 40 minutes'... on a weekend... in July...

    My daughter works as a mascot at a particular amusement park, and repeatedly she and her "buddy" get asked to "dab" and "floss", which is an automatic firing offense. I don't know if people get this, but character performers CANNOT DO THINGS CONTRARY TO THAT CHARACTER. Stop asking them to do dance moves or stupid moves that were popularized on Vine or Instagram. Not going to happen. Just because Squidward did it....ONCE....doesn't mean other characters are too willing to land on the unemployment line for your viral video.

      saffie girl some time depending on the Character and the role . Some love to dance and some . I think it personally chose. How people don't do any type of research? Specially when they are spending thousands of dollars! That's the easiest way to waste the money and the vacations at the same time!
    I came here, because I want to visit Disney World for the first time in my life, and I got the impression I'm more informed that many people.

    I am guilty of the 3 o'clock parade question. I have no real rational excuse, and I'm not usually what I would consider a dense person. I think maybe it's the heat and crowds and hyper kids (of all ages) and you're waiting for the parade and it feels like it'll never start, or something. I have no idea. I just remember asking it in all seriousness one time!! LOL

    I just got back from my Disney vacation. I got asked if I was a cast member, I said I wasn’t. The woman replied and said “well you’ll probably know anyway, how do I exit the park?” And it was the Magic Kingdom. We were in front of the train station. 😂🙈 and it was park closing....follow the crowd of thousands of people leaving?

    Anyone that has worked retail will understand the “Do you work here?” question. I’ve found that the reason is that people that work there walk in a different way. They clearly know where everything is an how to get there. They never look lost. Your eyes are looking straight ahead and never look at the signs. You just look like you belong there.

      I often stop by Petco on the way home from work to pick up pet supplies, wearing a work uniform yes, but totally different from what people at Petco wear, and still get asked questions as if I worked there. Some people aren't that observant, assume anyone in any work uniform is an employee, regardless of what specific uniform they're wearing.

    I work at Six Flags and people always ask me if I work there... when I'm there as a guest, wearing jean shorts and a purple cape... I think it's something about how you walk around the park with this certain type of confidence, not like a tourist trying to find their way around and checking prices, but instead telling your party where things are or how much something costs (as a retail employee, I have half the merch prices in the park memorized and I always tell people I'm going with)

    I am a Disneyland Resort cast member. One of the weirdest questions I get is they will come up to the exit of either Disneyland or California Adventure from the esplanade, which is already outside the park. "Is this the way to exit the park? The sign says exit only!"

  • @brittanyfox8873

    I’m in a wheelchair so my vision is usually blocked by people when I’m trying to see signs and things like that. I was at a theme park once and someone actually almost laughed at me for asking where the handicap entrance was to a ride. (I heard them laugh as I rolled away) It was only a few feet away but it was behind a big crowd I had no way to see through. I realize it probably sounded like a stupid question cuz I was right there but still you can at least wait till I’m out of earshot if you must laugh at me.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  6 років тому +4

      good points. Never thought things like that were funny when it came to handicapped entrances and similar things. You're having to deal with things that we aren't aware of. sorry that they were so crass and rude.

      SirWillow most handicapped entrance are actually the exits. I’ve had people give me that “you should know that” look when I ask where exits are so I can meet back with friends that ride things I can’t.

    I used to operate the train at Six Flags Fiesta Texas and the team members would make a list of the stupid things you hear at the station. Stuff like “where are the animals”, “where’s shamu”, “does this ride go upside down”, “is this where We board the train or do we just stand here and watch it go by?” And at least a handful of guests a day would try to give us their season pass or try to give us cash to get on the train. (The train is free)

  • @Warholy
    @Warholy 6 років тому +11

    As mentioned in other videos, I still work at Universal Studios, and I too get a lot of silly questions. But to answer your question or curiosity on people's complaints about prices and how things are expensive, I was once told that the guests think that they are somehow entitled to bigger benefits if they pay a lot of money to get in. They think that they don't have to follow certain rules or policies, and they tend to get upset if we kindly ask them to follow some of our policies. For example, I used to work in the Wizarding World (I HATE when people call it Harry Potter world..), as a train porter for a specialized photo booth opportunity that required sitting in a film set with a green screen. We would have to ask guests multiple times not to take pictures with their phones because it's basically stealing in a way. (I'll explain further on that if anyone would like me to). Some will gladly respect that rule when we warn them, but others will be very uptight and protest against the rule. But in relation to what I mentioned earlier, a lady tried to take pictures of her daughter in the photo booth, to which I kindly asked her not to do so. She rudely ignored my request and moved forward to get a better angle to her daughter. That's when I had to step in between her and her daughter to prevent any further rule breaking, to which she raised her voice at me, complaining that she paid a lot of money and that she had the right to take pictures with her phone. I still kept my tone and volume at a respectable level explaining the policies, right before she stormed off with her kid. People have to realize that every place has a rule or policy that you cannot just step over and take it for granted.

      I know the feeling. While I don't work at an amusement park I do work at a restaurant. Just yesterday I sat a table of 5-6 at table made for 6 people. They moved to a table made for 8 which is vary annoying when guest do that because is throws off our setting chart. That day it didn't matter in the end but still! Even the waitresses complained. What's worse is that we can't say anything because "The customer is always right."

    • @genzi78514
      @genzi78514 6 років тому +3

      For me, the worst part if that they are so egotistical, that they don't usually realize that someone else can be fired because of them, and also that probably there are many people in the park who has spent more money than them, and have a best behaviour.

    • @strongsadventures

    I don't understand visitors who get a genuine answer from a worker...and then insist the worker is wrong. Why would the worker lie about something like where the castle was? Someone simply giving you an answer you weren't expecting doesn't give you the right to insult their integrity and character (or their intelligence). Also, if you think you know so much more than the worker, then why did you ask them a question in the first place? You obviously needed their help, so don't respond with a flippant, haughty, "I don't need your help, I can do it myself!" attitude.

    • @tigerfanfrv

      I also don't understand people who do that. it's happens to me at work too. (I work at a veterinary hospital) guy called asked about the program we have where if he brings a bill from a different clinic we will do things for free. I told him we don't have a program like that, and he argued with me... for 10 minutes!!!

    Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean at Magic Kingdom can get you very wet. I once rode Splash Mountain and did not get wet at all (I rode in the third row) and then went on Pirates and got soaked (front row). Also, because of the scene with the pirates attacking the fort, people sitting on either side of the boat in certain rows can get quite wet. Sitting on the right side of the fourth row is especially annoying because you get splashed by the last cannon--just when you think you made it to the next scene without getting wet, you suddenly find a lot of water falling down on you. I've also been on Pirates when everybody sat on the left side of the boat and it leaned so far over to the side that the edge of the boat dipped below the waterline and soaked everybody sitting on the left. The front of the boat also hit either the bottom of the "riverbed" or the side of the "riverbed" when it dipped below the waterline and made a loud noise that scared everybody. I'm genuinely surprised that none of the Cast Members watching the riders from the control room came on the intercom to tell everyone to move over.

    A few years ago, my sister graduated from college - it was an online degree and the graduation ceremony was at Coronado. One day her family and me and my dad went to MK for the day. Well, my BIL kept on complaining about how all of the lines are always really long (Mine Train had a 90 minute wait). I wanted to say "HELLO?! We are at Disney!! It's going to be a long wait!" He was also complaining about how expensive everything is. *facepalm*

    The moment i go on break........thats one way to spend breaktime......i have a story that happened today...i was taking pictures for guests when i was working with Goofy. There was a kid that had a very weird shirt on....so politely i asked him if he could cover it up or had a family member move so they can block the shirt. He politely did so. As i took the picture the same kid started taking off the jacket and the picture had his shirt showing. Now i was mad, but I again asked him to keep his shirt covered up.....i took the picture again, and again, his shirt was showing. I politely asked his parents to have his shirt covered up......they told him to keep his shirt covered up.....
    Also like you said.... I have been asked if I worked there....now im 19 and 5'5"..... i may look young....but....the best answer i have given was taking off my name tag and showed them it.........i had many funny stories.Thank you Sir Willow!!!!...#FromOneDisneyCastMemberToAnother

    It's been MANY years since my last visit to Disney World and the idea each park was part of that World had never occurred to me. The first time I went there was only the Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. The last time I went Disney/MGM Studios (as it was then called) was open and Animal Kingdom was under construction. I'm glad I watch your videos so I won't look silly during my next trip! I definitely wouldn't have asked about being on Disney buses to get to non-Disney parks. Those examples gave me a real laugh! Keep up the great work!

    When my brothers and I first went to Orlando in the early 1990s, we went to Universal Studios (the big draw being Nickelodeon Studios), and my dad asked an employee where the "falling elevator" ride was because he wanted to go on it.
    There has also been at least one occasion where someone thought I was a cast member. Maybe I still give off the service industry vibe, despite having worked an office job for the last 10 years. I used to work in retail, where the equivalent to the 3 o'clock parade question would be the "It must be free" joke that comes up if you have trouble scanning an item.

I’ve lost count the number of times someone has tried to tell me that the park is just for kids and it’s not any fun without them. I have more fun when I go alone because I don’t have to deal with people complaining about the lines. It’s Disney. There will be lines. The parks are always full.

    I got sort of got impression when I was at disney world with my family in 2015. This lady wanted to know where the jungle cruise was, because me, and my family were near it by Tarzan’s tree house. I work as a taxi driver, walked into a hospital. Mind you, this one isn't one I'd suggest, ever, because the staff is just beyond dense to the point where I'd say if you wanted to not die beg to go to one of the other hospitals. So I'm in there, wearing a uniform that clearly says right on the front, right where you'd expect a name tag to be, plain as day, the name of the cab company. The lady behind the counter looks up at me and asks if I'm the ambulance driver. I'm wearing a blue shirt with a taxi company printed on it, sure, I'm the ambulance driver.

    in defense of those asking about going to Disney World when in a EPCOT or Hollywood studios, I think many people think that the Magic Kingdom is "Disney World" and the other Disney parks are just other parks because, for the longest time, when watching ads for Disney, they only showed the Magic Kingdom. so, that is why I think people get confused.

    More then once I've gone to Disneyland as a guest and was asked if I worked there, or was asked questions where things were. And one time I was right next to my friend who I was visiting, who was in full costume and a guest came straight up to me and asked ME her question instead of the very very obvious working cast member standing right next to me.

    "Disney busses don't go to non-Disney places." GENIUS TIME! A central florida bus line called the "Theme Park Xpress", which in theory runs Peter Pan/Greyhound type busses on a fixed timetable, supplemented by smaller senior/handicap vans for parties with such family members that run on a more-or-less on-demand basis (the only restriction is that other parties may be booked on your van, space permitting, if they are in the same line of travel).
    For clarity, the buses on fixed timetables, for contractual and logistical reasons, would not stop at the parks and resorts individually (say Animal Kingdom, Art of Animation, or Island of Adventure), only at each park complex's main transportation hub. (The on-demand vans for 60+/♿️ would probably be able to get away with stopping at individual parks and hotels for legal reasons.)

    Funny video! I feel that most of those questions could easily be avoided if people only took the map/plan/guide for the park!! They never do... Also I once was at disneyland Paris and overheard a mother tell her child "Yes we'll go see Bugs Bunny!!" not a question per se, but I laughed so much! Although I'm myself guilty of the 3o'clock parade question in a way, I wanted to ask for the time of a specific parade (we couldn't find on the guide), and since I knew of this stupid 3'oclock question my tongue slipped and I asked that instead XD

    I would like to apologize bc I haven’t been watching. I’ve been pretty busy lately but now that it’s almost summer I can get caught up. I really like your videos and you have some good information and good stories.
    I was at Disney World last year I forget what park and someone asked me “what are these wristbands everyone has?”
    Me: oh you mean magicbands?
    Them: no the room key and fastpass thing
    Me: yes magicbands
    Them: huh
    Then I was waiting for my hotdog at Casey’s Corner talking to my mom and this guy from England comes up to me and says “I love your accent where are you from?” And I said Ohio. He said “I just love northern accents.”

    So, um, at risk of being added to one of your "silly questions" videos, is the real name of the 3:00 parade something different? You had mentioned the names of two other parades when bringing it up, but I've only ever heard of "the 3:00 parade"; is it just a nickname for whatever parade happens at 3:00?
    I've never had the chance to go to Disney before and am living vicariously through other people's vlogs, please have mercy on my ditzy of a self.

      The current parade is the Festival of Fantasy parade. 3:00 has never been the name of the parade, only the standard time that it's been held, but you are far from alone in thinking that was actually the name and not being aware of what the parades are actually called. :-)

    We were in the parks as a guest last week waiting for the tram to the park and some guests walked up and asked which way the park was... Ill give them it was Holly wood studios but still.
    Another time I was working and I work resorts and a guest stopped me and asked if I was a real cast member even though I dont work in the parks, after I contiuned to talk with her she asked me if I lived there... Like the resort. She had in her head that all disney cast members lived at Disney. and was surprised to find out "it was just like a normal job" still baffles me

    The only comment I'll toss in is for #3 about "Where's the exit?"... I completely sympathize with you about at Epcot, etc., but, when it comes to Animal Kingdom, I can honestly say that I've had to ask that. Mind you, I was using an ECV, so my point of view was roughly that of a child... most of what I could see was everybody's rear end, not actually landmarks, etc. Plus, it was an evening extra magic hours day, so at the time I was leaving, we didn't have a whole large group to just follow to the exit. Ultimately, had to ask one of the greatest members of the Dream Squad, Eric (yes, it's been over 10 1/2 years & we still remember his name!) if he could PLEASE show us the way out, because all of the landmarks that everyone wanted to have us use were completely impossible for me to see. So, how do I get out of here at Magic Kingdom, Epcot, & the Studios, no, I don't quite see it... How do I get out of here at Animal Kingdom? Heck, I'd almost turn it into PLEASE LET ME OUT OF HERE, PLEASE? :)

    I’m surprised that Disney would let you take pictures with a guest’s camera. Years ago, I was able to get a free video emailed after visiting Spaceship Earth. And the best of all, while riding a tram from the Studios to the parking lot, the driver made a reference to MGM and called it “Mickey’s Gold Mine”.

    • @SirWillow
      @SirWillow  10 місяців тому

      As far as I know, the only time Disney cast members were not allowed to use guest cameras was during the height of the covid period. Otherwise they always have been. What easier way is there to make a guest's day than a simple offer to take their picture for them so everyone can be in it?
      And it really wasn't competition for our cameras. I'd say half the time when they saw how good a photo I took with their phone or cheap camera, and realized my equipment was better, they wanted me to take their photo and see what else I could do. I always took the best photo I could with theirs as I saw it as a test shot for what I could do.
      Sadly, not every photographer thought that way. Some would deliberately not take good photos, not realizing that it made them look like a lousy photographer who couldn't take a decent shot, so why would the guest want them to take more? Those photographers didn't usually last long.

    Completely unrelated to silly questions, but a silly experience:
    I was visiting Disney World three years ago as a graduation gift from my folks. And of course, lots of things happen at theme parks. I bumped into some people once or twice walking from place to place, and my sister tells me I shouldn’t do that (something along those lines). We’re at a theme park, and there’s PEOPLE. LOTS of people, big deal. You quickly apologize if you find yourself making eye contact with whoever you bumped into and go on your way. She also got a little impatient, so I tried to lighten it up by telling her let’s not make the happiest place on earth an angry place. 😂

    I could see why people maybe think Disney buses go to other parks because some non Disney hotels (like the one my family is staying at in a couple of weeks. It will be my first time. I am super excited!) have shuttle services that go not only to Disney, but Universal and SeaWorld as well. So if it were a non Disney hotel shuttle they were taking, I could understand, but a Disney bus? Maybe they think because their hotel shuttle takes them to other parks, Disney buses will take them there too. Or maybe they just confuse the two. I don’t know.

    @SirWillow when lines for rides get super long '60 minutes or more' do you have any tips or tricks to get entertained during this time. I know It's not a good trait, but when I walk very very slowly in a tight crowd I tend to get a bit claustrophobic and irritated. So i really could use some distraction or things to do

      Today? apps and games on your phone. Trivia books. look for hidden Mickeys. things like that. in my case, I don't wait that long for a ride. Ever. The only one I was willing to do it for was Pandora's Flight of Passage. But I go to parks on days that don't have lines like that, or I use things like Fastpass to skip them.

    I understand why some people might ask "where are the rides" if they're used to parks with large coasters on their skyline. They were expecting an amusement park and it doesn't look anything like one. It doesn't excuse the stupidity of it, but I can see where they're coming from. However I can't understand why people drop thousands of dollars without understanding where they're even going.
