What? He did well enough to win a fortuitous championship in 1996 when Schumacher was still developing Ferrari and McLaren was down, but to call him a legend is too far.
Alejandro Zuniga Why is D Hill so underrated He was faster than Alain Prost , Hill outdrove Alain Prost in almost every race in 1993 F Williams called him such a fast bastard! D Hill was a superb technique driver and he over took even Senna many times on track through 1993 His drive here if you understand driving in Monaco narrow roads was as magical as watching Senna drive I do not see the difference between the two The only difference is that D Hill stares his F1 career to late too old and did all that in such a short period! He almost beat every top driver of that era! Amazing talent! True blood of Graham Hill!
@@borisduprey1878 Hill out drove Prost in the races but just was unlucky to win less and many times Hill over took Prost on race start , but not by poles ! Hill was the better racer if had had more experience!
Hill was lapped by Senna in the same car in the first race of 1994. Hill would have been nowhere near Senna's race pace (forget about qualifying), had he lived to finish the season.
I would like to try some of the stuff that you are on man... If Damon had more single seater time I do believe he would be a better driver. And he was a very good driver. He knew how to set up and develop F1 cars, was a relatively good qualifier but he was nowhere near Prost throughout a full season. There where some places where he was particularly good at. Hungary, Spa, Adelaide, and in 93 he also ran great at the german GP, british GP and at the french GP. He had a very good mid season run (probably enough to get second place from Senna, but never to get close to Prost at the end of the season). The fact that Senna hang on with one of the Williams at the end of the season only proves the point that Senna was THAT good. That FW15C was miles ahead of ANY car back in that 93 season.
@Jonas Jonaitis And Ayrton would not adapt to the car and get faster and faster as the season went on? Also, at Imola in 94, Damon (as many drivers did) improved his time on the second qualifying day, and Ayrton ran the fastest lap time of that Imola qualifying weekend on the first qualifying (Ayrton did not set a time on the second qualifying because of Ratzenberger' s crash). Drivers were improving their times on that second qualifying day (the track conditions were "faster" for the cars) (Schumacher and Hill did that, so did Hakkinen, Brundle and others), so it was perfectly possible for Senna to go even quicker than what he did on friday and extend the gap to the other drivers (Hill included) - which he would probably do. One needs to analise all things before talking about subjects. Ayrton was a PURE RACER. PERIOD. He had a challenge with that 94 early season FW16 car and he was there to adress the chalenge. Senna was completely 100% a racer. That is also why he is the legend he his today, even all these years after his death. And that is also why we were all robbed of some tremendous years of F1 racing following the events on that first of May, 1994. Hill was a good driver but was calendars apart from Senna in what concerns pure speed and race craft - not to mencion pure will and determination. It was not even close. He would not beat Ayrton over a full season (in "similar conditons") even once in his life time. All else is wishfull thinking. After all is said and done Damon Hill was still, at some point, my favourite F1 driver, not so much because of his talent driving a race car but more because he was the one with the car to challenge Schumacher just right after Senna's death and also because he was a pure "gentleman driver" - one of the last to grace a race track, in my opinion. And that, no one can take away from him. 👍

@@Aries-dd3hu Hello I'm Alejandro Zuniga, let's take it easy, in 1993 .. Willimas FW15 vs Mclaren MP4/8 ?? You're joking when you want to say that Hill was better than Senna in 93 ... they were cars that almost had different categories ... and even then senna was vice champion ... Worse when you say that you do not see the difference between the two ... In 1994 with the same car was clear Damon Hill was an excellent driver, but never on the same level as Senna, not even 1996 .. I respect your opinion, but sorry, Hill vs Senna is an unreasonable comparison ...
Con Senna vivo la F1 hubiera sido distinta, Schumacher, no ganaba 7 campeonatos mundiales, ni tantas carreras Senna le quitaría una parte de su gloria.
A bit overrated, the man: Just for his outstanding rather and this year we knew him. Of course he has amazing talent. But against Schumacher he didnt make to much out of it. And After his title even the Team Bosses Walkinshaw and Jordan called him "lazy" and "complicated"
Yet he almost had wins for both those teams (Arrows and Jordan) which is a lot closer than most drivers got. I think he's possibly the 'worst' champion in terms of an overall package but that's hardly an insult because he was better than the vast majority of his competitors.
Frank Williams is quoted as saying one thing attracted him to sign Hill was ' his desire to work and work and work plus of course he was very quick ' I suppose he could have just parked his car on the last but one corner of that qually lap at Monaco to secure his pole but what sort of driver would do a thing like that?

Damon Hill a legend? Where?
Barnabas Wanger maybe because he is world champion? EVERY champion is a legend.. or would u call Stirling Moss not a legend cuz he isnt Champion?

Damon Hill purely legenda
Never say die
Unbelievable drive through Monaco circuit
Almost unrealistic speed and precision!
