- Hedingham & Chambers bus driver seems to think the painted cycle lane is adequate protection for someone riding a bike instead of a safe 1.5m. A driver awareness course should help them get this right in future.

As a car driver who is seeing a cyclist doing something he /she shouldnt be doing, eg jumping a red light....how do I report the bike rider to the police in the same way..?
Same way you report someone on foot breaking the law, a description of them.
Looks standard
Another reason bike lanes don't make cycling safer. Motorists can't grasp that safe clearance applies whether cyclist is in a bike lane or in the travel lane.
Painted bike lanes don't make cycling safer but properly segregated ones certainly do. I wish they'd remove this particular painted bike lane (and ideally replace it with a segregated one -- it would be a complete game changer for our family).
Motorists don't grasp it because the govt refuses to educate them on it. Maybe the consider the fines to be more profitable.
@@vfclists Do they actually fine for close passes of cyclists? I thought at best a driving course.
@@paulflory3532 If they insist they are innocent and take the matter to court they get fined, and may even lose points on their licence.
Can anyone show me written in law a figure of 1.5m .
Cyclist was in his lane and there was a space before the bus. 1.5m is BS. Sometimes it's just not possible. (Yes I cycle and my wife has a trike) Get a grip - this is reality.
There is no law saying 1.5m, its fictional. Nobody has taken it to appeal court yet,
Bus drivers on this road seem to be either fantastic or terrible. Thanks for reporting.
Couldn't agree more!
