To kick things off, I recently picked up an overhead camera mount to better utilize my table space whenever I'm unboxing items. It's unfortunate I didn't have this overhead camera mount earlier because I now wish all my previous unboxing videos were recorded the same way!
Anyhow, my latest unboxing is for the UBER-COOL super retro console: the Sega Nomad aka the "portable Sega Genesis" released exclusively in the USA for $179.99 on October 1995. This "beautiful brick" screams retro and it's surprisingly comfortable when holding it in my hands. Despite being somewhat heavy, it's' actually very comfortable to hold. It's essentially a Sega Genesis on the goal-minus a limited battery life at about 2-hours or so depending on the game you're playing and brightness/contrast levels. I've also included extra items including the official travel pouch as well as three games to show you what it looks like on the console's small 3.25" screen and when it's being recorded fullscreen: (1) Midnight Resistance (2) Ghostbusters (3) Robocop vs The Terminator. Rare as hens teeth in Australia, I've seen plenty of Game Gears and Atari Lynx' but never one of these in the wild!
A proper Sega re-release would be awesome for all regions, the bootleg machines just feel so cheap! Haha

Yeah, would love Sega to revive this portable. While not 1st Party, Retro-bit does make officially-licensed Sega pads. In fact, they showed off a licensed Nomad prototype back in 2019: www.nintendolife.com/news/2019/01/looks_like_retro-bit_is_resurrecting_segas_switch-like_handheld_the_nomad

I wish I had a nomad. But I’m modding GameCubes with picoboot to earn some money to buy one eventually since I can’t have a job yet

That's a great way to earn some income on the side. I used to custom mod JoyCons w/ D-Pads, etc and it was a great way to earn side income for bigger investments. In time, you will find the perfect Nomad. You should also check out @NachoMachoProductions on their Nomad review and mods...he's a great guy too! :)

That nomad bag looks brand freakn new dude .... I just picked one up off ebay that didnt look as nice as that for 150.

Yeah, originally when I received this carrying bag, it came in a plastic baggy but I don't know if the baggy was "OEM" so I didn't include it in the video recording. It seem unused and w/o any scent to it.
$150 is still a "good price" I think as I seen some sell for $175-200 a couple years ago.

I had a nomad but the screen was messed up on me and i could barely see on the screen anymore so i gave it away wish i had it again to play my genesis games

Oh yeah, those older portable screens get worse over time. Screen technology wasn’t great. Most likely needed the capacitors replaced-a good first start to troubleshooting the busted screen.

Hello. Oh, what do you mean? For the screen? There’s custom but AWESOME new screen mod by Oled Endo’s “Venus LCD Upgrade Kit.” Check it out. He’s out of stock now but is doing a v2.0 so hopefully releases early 2024.

I just use rechargeable AA batteries from Energizer. Works great.
