Is it worth it? Here's the cost of this stuff in 2024 (estimated):
Nomad Console: $250
LCD Screen: $80
Nomad Pak MKII: $55
Two 18650 batteries: $25
Everdrive X7 (used): $120
That's an estimated total of $530, not taking shipping into account. I'm curious to know what you guys think about it!
With all the retro handhelds on the market, absolutely not unfortunately.
It’s worth it if you really love the mega drive. I got one about 2 years back. Was expensive to import into the U.K. but I love the system. Had screen modded and had the original battery pack. It took less power due to the new screen but would eat batteries still. I got the laser bear pack this year and it’s enabled me to play it even more. I’m very careful with it as I don’t want to have to get another.
When the Nomad was $70, sure. Now? NOPE
7:27 I had this back when it was released. There was another option for the power. There was a rechargeable battery pack that you can recharge by plugging the console in.
Right now i only have access to DS lite, but thanks for the vidio!
I 100% will consider Nomad as my next buy!
And thanks for mentioning Everdrive! It's really a pain to find cartriges nowdays.
Super cool!! Awesome video 💯
Loved my Nomad until the contrast wheel busted :( The external battery pack was insane, I never played it not plugged in. We had a van that had cigarette lighters by all the doors so I could sit in any seat and be able to power it. At home I was always tethered as well.
It was when it came out, I remember going to school and being the Cool Kid with a Nomad or the Gameboy Advance Micro.
Battery pack was a must or a large supply of extra batteries.
No one ever has been considered cool for owning a gameboy micro, especially at school.
Hey man pretty good vid. Only criticism i got is its a little rambly. Probably could cut like 30-40 percent out and the info would remain the same
PROTIP: Make sure you're using the correct power adapter. I was lazy, didn't look and used a Sega adapter with a different polarity and fried my LCD modded Nomad...still have my original Nomad though.
For me totally worth it, for diehard fans for sure, now i need that storage box!
Seen a ton of epic mods to modernize these things but Ive kept mine unmodded for nostalgia purposes. I mean I have a 6"5" Android with LED screen in it that Ive turned into a retro system that does the same exact things a modded one would do and have a bigger screen. Either way still pretty sick what people come up with for them.
Personally, i have covered my handheld needs with the analogue pocket.
I do love the lcd options that are available for all of the old handhelds giving them new life
There are so many great options for handheld gaming these days, and I'm really digging it!
First vid ive watched. Subbed. Can i ask, do you have a link for the pixel display you have in the background? Its awesome tbh.
Thanks very much! You can find that right here 😊 amzn.to/3ZrJdrB
@@travisbowmanmusic Thanks a lot. Its now sitting on my wishlist :D
I'm from Arkansas. What roundabouts are you from? Northwest River valley? That forbidden zone the southeast region?
Too late I already bought one LOL got the modded screen the modded board and the ability to play Sega CD and SMS with the audio mod and full recap.
When matched up with a mega everdrive pro it is 😘
I still have my nomad cant find the power supply but would love an lcd mod.
I just watched untill the end.
Personally I use R and L buttons in DS very often. So it's a severe problem.
You can still find a DSi in great condition for $50-$70. They're great systems!
Nah a hacked 3DS is the way to go.
The Nomad is entirely too bulky to fit in a pocket.
Honestly, SEGA had a potential winner that could've sold like the Gameboy. The ever changing, confusing roadmap killed consumer confidence and killed off any developers who didn't move to the PC or PlayStation.
It's No..t a Mad idea! It was only on sale for 1 year and sold over a million I think. I think they were just not confident to scale up production or something? Or wanted to migrate people to Saturn... :/
CAPACITORS! IF they have not already been properly replaced GET IT DONE! Nomads are NOT as death prone as game gears but close enough. Thus making it well worth your time.
