Farm Aid was started by Willie Nelson, Neil Young and John Mellencamp in 1985 to keep family farmers on the land and has worked since then to make sure everyone has access to good food from family farmers. Dave Matthews joined Farm Aid's board of directors in 2001.

I saw John April 11 2019 in Saginaw MI and he performed jack and Diane acoustic like in this vid. It was a great performance despite being in G instead the original A and faster interval

Right. He took all the drama out of the song. I've been gigging this for years. I use a tuned down 12 string and belt the power chords and the riff. A pleasure to play, always goes down well because the crowd are far more interested in singing along than listening to me.

This is why I don't go to concerts anymore. The artist sings only part of the song, pointing to the audience or in some other way insinuating that they want the audience to sing the song while they remain silent. I didn't pay good money to hear myself or the people around me sing the songs I came to hear the artist sing. It's a rip off! The star already knows we are familiar with their music... that's why we came. We want YOU, Mr. or Mrs. Rock Star, to entertain us!

It’s weird that he can’t play it his own song. Anybody who thinks he can, show me a video. Kinda gives hope to people who write songs but can’t play very well, like me.
I can see everyone enjoying themselves but, I'm sorry in my personal opinion John has really trashed his own song... naff chord selection and totally wrong tempo.
