. I met up with the Golf Sidekick Make Golf Fun Again Global Ambassador Matt Penkoks, Movement Scoundrel Liam...as well as Rahat and Tiha, the two slickest cats in Bangkok for a day of vintage golf.
My intention was to just chill and have some fun. IN the end, it was a birdie fest!

Now Unico Grande golf course is in Bangkok and has been resized numerous ties as they ell off parts of land around the course. It's now down to 5200 or so yards with water everywhere. it's a short course so you need to keep the ball in play off the tee and not let it spray, otherwise it's problems, as Matt found out!

Every course can be easy and every course can be difficult. It just depends where you hit the ball. On this day with the Vintage clubs, it was a nice day where I only hit one waterball I think, and a collecton of stupid plays meant i didn't shoot under par. But it was more about meeting up with some homies and enjoying the Sunday afternoon together.
So anyone who wants to tell you this course or that course is too easy and want to invalidate your scores etc or whatever it is the person wants to criticize...just realize playas, anything anyone says is merely a reflection of their inner demons and the things they struggle with.
Read between the lines and the muppets who bring you down, belittle things you do, moan, or bring negative energy are merely bringing their issues to the surface with the words that they feel appropriate to project onto you. What negative people say are merely manifestations of their inner insecurities and problems. The lack of self-awareness of most people means that once you understand this, you can move on past the negativity to focus on your vibe.
Sunday afternoons are for fun, sun, chilling, laughing, enjoying and talking. What course is that on? Who cares? What par is the course? Who cares? What really matters? The playas: Matt, Rahat, Liam and Tiha. Absoulte legends and an honor to finally play this little course for the first time in 6 years - I couldn't have chosen a better 5 ball!

Hey Matt. I’ve been watching your channel for a couple of years now but never comment. I really like how non technical it is and based on the mental aspect. You have helped me tremendously! Taking ego out of my game is a great task in itself but I’ve committed to the way of the playa and my scores keep heading south. Whadda beautiful life! Keep it up playa, and be well. I too have battled pain from golf and know it’s very discouraging. Similar to the game on course, make a plan and follow through with executing it to return to pain free love of the game! I sincerely wish you all the best, friend working on improving your swing to ease your back pain so that you can have fun day after day! Ultimately, golf is most fun having a “365 day a year swing” without the back pain. I changed my swing (results yet to be determined) but will not effect me ever changing back to conventional. It’s been most fun for me watching your videos but not fun knowingly you made them dealing with pain afterwards. 😢 Thank You for the style and fun you brought to the game and hopefully will continue to be The Global Golf Ambassador all your subscribers love! Matt, I suffered from deep divots, sometimes fat shots with my irons. Went to see a pro where I was 7-8 degrees down angle of attack. My action was causing too much hip slide towards target which caused steep swing into ball impact. So instead of fixing my hip slide , my pro gave me a simple thought/feeling “feel like hitting from back foot”. Although this sounds totally wrong it worked for me which resulted in 3-4 degree angle of attack, better contact on the face and shallower divots. Worth a try ?

Matt: I made a big divot late last season and heard a sound in my left wrist (I play the same side of the ball as you do). For about 4 weeks after I could not put pressure on the club with my left thumb . Pain sucks the fun out of the game. I played less and when I did play I held the clubs without that thumb. You're already on it, but still, I say: make your changes before you can't play anymore.
Hi Matt, I've been playing the game 38 yrs and have had my share of back issues. I know your going to a pro but sooner or later any swing is going to hurt your body. What I've done is swing the club left handed as much as possible at work or home to help with the right sides dominant side swing. It helps me at least! (And monthly chiropractic treatment)
Yeah I will be taking the game up left handed again. I enjoy it and it adds a dimension of fun
I follow the Aussie Golf guys over here. Great to see you give them a mention. I was looking into par 3 courses and the course where I first learned to play came to mind. Nothing over 102 metres and they have weekend only membership for $205 a year. #yearoftheplaya #yearoftheshortgame
Your putting was outstanding (and you know I have to comment on the reappearance of that magical blade). You capture the essence of what golf can and should be here. And your performance with the old clubs may finally shame me into not blaming my clubs for my shortcomings I have three full sets; they all take turns in the 'time out' closet for betraying me on the course. Apologies may be in order.
Lol nothing wrong with that playa. My eye can wander too and when i see and hold a sexy driver, it goes in the bag and the previous one goes into the abyss. Its that fickle!

Looks like a fun course!! Lot of risk reward holes or play it safe and make birdies as well!! What do you prefer hitting the new driver or the old persimmon one?
Always the old persimmon because I grew up ith wooden woods. The new ones are so light that I can't get a good rhythm
@@GolfSidekick When I started out in the early 90's I had for a couple of months persimmon but eventually everything switched to metal. But the modern woods are really light!! I bought a new driver last year and it is much lighter than my older one which was from 2001.

This course is 10 mins from my house and it's been renovated. I haven't been there for like a year and it changed a lot wowwww.

I think you have the case of the reverse C’s on your shots where you swing over 80 percent. I use to do this too and it caused me severe lower back pain. It’s hard to explain but if you practice with a hula hoop you basically want the hoop to travel on the line closer to your belt and feel your right hip accelerate down and through the ball instead of leaning back on that right side
Exactly but the main issue I have is a fundamental misunderstanding via the brain and brain body connection that keeps me swinging badly and painfully. I need to fix that with the helpnof a pro to get pain free
