I'm not sure exactly where I was but before lockdown, I was in Shiga, Japan playing on a couple courses with my father-in-law. We don't speak the same language but the game of golf is universal. I can't wait for the day foreigners are allowed back into Japan.
Matt's banter is on. His dad treats them horribly. Ignoring his caddy, throwing head covers or towels at them, gesticulating wildly. But yeah, Matt makes plenty of jokes and makes his caddie feel like part of the game.
Hey Matt, just wanted to thank you. You’re smart plays approach has completely changed my game. To the point where I wasn’t enjoying myself at all while playing. Now my expectations are lowered and I’m thinking about my next shot which has taken a lot of pressure off my game. I still got a long way to go but I’m feeling much better since discovering your videos
Dream Course: I honestly just want to play beach golf somewhere. Like pebble beach or something along those lines. Nice breeze hitting you, cold drinks, and playing with the guys. Can’t get any better, hope I win!
@@c.jarmstrong3111 Matt just makes it look simpler..he’s smoother..Matt’s 2 iron would keep up with Ricks driver..rick just can’t putt for shit, terrible putter..but I don’t think he’d wipe the floor with him, I think it would be a tight match
My Dream Course is Lofoten Links in Norway. Above the arctic circle you can play under 24 hour sun, or in the later season play then watch the northern lights. Also, my gold divot tool, arrived the other day. It looks really great, and I very much love the gold feather ball marker. Thanks again.
Favourite course atm is my house the par 5 back garden into the tough par 4 dog leg from bedroom to living room finishing with a lovely bar 3 in the kitchen
I played my dream course once. It is placed on Mauritius, a wonderful and beautiful island. The course is called 'Ille aux cerfs' and is only reachable by boat. One of the most amazing, spectacular courses in the world, but even playable for me with a 27 Handicap. Keep going with your vlogs and keep on smiling and loving the game. Can't wait to start the new season in Germany this year.
Most golf videos focus on mechanics but I like how you gave it a mental approach especially with being committed to the shot you feel best about and not the hero shot trying to show off. I play with some one like that and they never break 80 and I dont either when I let it effect me. When I play the smart game, I do. Subscribed and will be watching more of these. I am moving to Thailand in 2 months! Can't wait!
For the gold: I once played the Beach Club on Nassau Island. My wife bought a round for our anniversary. That Course was the most beautiful I’ve ever seen!
Tour 18 in Houston, Texas. A mash-up of the best 18 holes in US Golf, including Amen Corner, 17th at TPC Sawgrass etc etc. The only chance most of us will get to play these holes.
After playing a lot of WGT golf in lockdown, my dream course to play would have to be Wolf Creek in Nevada, USA - such interesting scenery, and amazing changes of level.
Just needed to be the first to like the video! You haven’t made a bad one yet. You have improved my game so much with your videos! Any time you make your way to the USA, I owe you a round, least I can do.
17:00 I always play the long club more gently. I find I have better control over the release that way. If I try to hit the ball to hard I top it or end up with a mega slice (more practice required).
My favourite course is any course where I’m with my friends and preferably my son - enjoying the company and being grateful spending time together in this very weird world we currently live in. Having said that, take the above and mix with any fine links course in Scotland (North Berwick, Royal Dornoch, Carnegie Club) and you have a winning combo.
So many dream course to choose from of what I have played and not played. However, one of the favorites and least expensive was Kaneohe Klipper. It is on the Marine Corp base on Oahu and the views are spectacular out into the Pacific. In addition, played early morning and at 8:00am sharp Reveille played across the course. Guy on a nearby hole dropped his club mid-swing and stood at attention.
Dream course: well, its not a world class course or anything but Datchet Golf CLub. Its where my grandad was a member and where he took me every weekend I visited. He was there a few times a week and loved golf. He was a scratch golfer and a big part of the community there. When he passed away thats where we spread his ashes, and my goal is to get to a level where I can visit Datchet and shoot close to par. It will be an emotional moment when I do. Im waiting until I improve to play there but its a big part of why I decided to start playing.
When I am in between club I typically grip down on the grip and choose the higher club and have fairly good results. It could be worth experimenting with that.
Thanks Matt, this vid really makes me want to try this course out. Other side of town but seems worth the trip. Hope to have a round with you some day, if I can go back to play decent. Keep up the quality work. Love the channel, so relaxing. Cheers.
Kiwana in Ito Japan. It's like Pebble Beach on the other side of the Pacific. Didn't score well, but played well. The wind and hills are so difficult, I nutted a 7 iron into the wind uphill on 17 (I think) from 130 outs and still came up 20 yards short. You can also see Mt Fuji from two of the holes. Stunning golf course
Dream course is whichever one where I'm playing with the OG Playa. As we shortside ourselves on the final hole all tied up, Matt holes his chip for bird and Jim Nantz softly whispers "whaddaplaya" into my ear. Then I wake up.
Another great video, playa!(keep em coming and we'll keep hitting that like button) . loved all the birdie music in this one.. and whadda touch on that chip on 18!
My dream course is The Country Club of Brookline, where one of golf's great ambassadors shocked the world with his US Open victory in 1913. I was a recipient of the scholarship that bears his name, Francis Ouimet, and it would be a dream come true to tee it up at this prestigious venue.
I'll give a shout out to Butter Valley Golf course...Its out in the countryside of Pennsylvania, quite hilly so it is a good walk. It has a airport runway in it. So it is a kick to have airplanes land and take off (Little ones). A nice 600 yard par 5 runs down the one side of it (You can't hit balls off the runway if your unfortunate to hook it LOL) . Took one of my Uncle's there in from Las Vegas and he got a real kick out of it. Nice price also, $17 to walk. Keep them coming Matt ! I feel like I am at the course...
Very interesting indeed.....it is a great learning tool to watch a very good golfer play his shots and explain the potential rights and wrongs of their actions and choices......thanks Matt, your work is informative, entertaining and also kudos to you cameraman and production editor......a great presentation
Yes I would like to see you play Shiels that would be great. I was born in the area he plays but Matt is changing the way I play. Thanks Three course challenge. Both pick a course. Lowest score of two courses combined gets to pick a third course.
I could walk to Pine Valley from my house, but will probably never play there. Pretty much anything in Scotland would be a dream course, but southeast Asia is looking pretty darn inviting! Especially since it's winter here!
Wadda golf course. And wadda player. Game looks awesome. Very jealous. I prefer the 80% swing on most shots if I can on irons. On driver and 3w I have to „let it go without overswinging“ to ensure proper tempo. Keep up the good work!
Kapalua. Has been for 20 years. Just watched again last week. I will play that some day, even though it's 400 bucks. Looks amazing. You should go to Hawaii and do a vid.

USA: Wolf Creek in Mesquite, Nevada (1.5 hours north of Vegas) - 18 signature holes, lots of ups and downs Canada: Fairview Mountain in Oliver, British Columbia - Golf on a mountain

Wow what a beautiful course. I always found it easier to full swing a 5-6 then soft swing a 4-5. Something about my timing is thrown off when I'm not putting all the effort into it.
Ruffled Feathers Golf Club would be my dream course. Just outside of Chicago, Pete Dye designed, plus if the name has anything to do with the course there should be ample opportunities to plant feathers and grow birdies!
Waddafinish, smiling the whole way. Shorter club harder she always tells me is better. The dream course is WMBSIYOJ, the original layout was in Germany, but you'll find them worldwide now playa, high standard.

Fantastic upkeep, character members, mountain views all round and feels like a private course even though its public. They sold me 430 pavers for 100 buckaroos and lent me the clubs truck to haul them. Waddalife at the Hanmer Springs Golf Club
Belmont Hills Country Club in St. Clairsville Ohio is my dream course. Not a day goes by I don't recall the lush grass under my youthful feet as i played rounds with my father. With he having passed, I would trade my rounds at TPC, Bethpage Black, and other courses of renowned for a single round with my favorite Golf Sidekick just to talk incessantly about all the missed GIRs that frustrated my father to no end after perfectly placing a drive 260 in the soft short midwestern grass.
Pasatiempo GC in Santa Cruz,CA. Made by Mackenzie after he finished Augusta. Played it once and probably became the first chap to ever get his round rained out there. Ended on the 11th hole. I cry at night... 😭

Same bro lol
On mine the greens would be easily reachable with miserably topped 5-woods.
Dessert is my dream course.

lol and a lot more difficult to play but the sacrifice i make. Wadda course
