- EVERY SHOT IN 10 MINUTES (Unico Grande Golf Club)
A round of golf at Unico Grande golf course in Bangkok, Thailand. It's a par 63 executive course that has many par 3s on the back 9.
I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing now playing off a 14.8 handicap.
I am in Thailand for the winter & spring and will be back to posting UK golf content this summer.

Handicap 15 for 9 I take it? Probably about right, would say you are around the 32 mark as a handicap. Keep up the practicing.

Golf's a funny old game! :)
OUCH@@notaperfectgolfer3489
I've been watching this chap from the start, he's a legend! Definitely an off day but if you watch his other videos you'll see he is very honest and his handicap is certainly correct 😊
Everyone has days like this, don't worry about it. As long as you're enjoying it, then the decent golf will return
A couple of good shots help
At least I got the health benefits from playing on this day. That's what I tell myself! :)
Wasn't it Einstein who said" golf is a nice walk ruined"?
We all have days like this, you get anxious and play too fast etc. Thanks for sharing the vid.
So true, was thinking about taking up knitting and just walk round the course to improve my golf.
It's like the more I tried the worse it got! lol :)
Yes indeed we've all had these rounds, with a scorecard straight to trash bin...The pace or weight may have gotten you this time. Leading to 3 putts....Nice job keeping a smile all the while, sometimes you just have to laugh it off and move on...Which is precisely what you did...As always a pleasure to watch...
Cheers Manny, I was expecting a +9 at worse on this day but to go +19 was crazy haha :)
James you are a great golfer. These things happen. Your progress and videos on breaking 90 are a great resource for all of us
We all have days like this. All credit for posting it
Those greens were tough, I am so glad you posted the video. I love that you are still able to laugh at some of those putts.
Fair one on you for posting this warts and all, and you are right - this is more representative of club golf and all it's ups and downs - keep it up!
Maaaate! I just watched your round from the next day... My levels of sympathy for this day are a little short. It's certainly a funny old game.
Have rarely à round like this but when it happens, i tone down and just use it to practice without being overly worrying about the score. You played fine and take the positives and youd fun. Well done
Great to see you back posting again. We all have days like that. Just love how it doesn't get you down.
I JUST WATCHED A BUNCH OF YOUR OLD VIDEOS AND NOW YOU UPLOAD ONE, CRAZY:)
2 in one day :)
It's the beard! You have to go back a bit to find great golfers sporting a full beard. Love your videos, thanks for uploading.
Another good video. I like your calm demeanor, sharp contrast from me on the course.
Don’t give up mate. See your golf as a pleasure to be outside in the sunshine. Don’t take it to seriously and keep practicing 👍
Always enjoy your videos please keep posting! How long have you lived in Thailand?
Played there many times James, not for over 5 years and my god how much it’s changed!. Had some good rounds there…..but some utter shockers…just got on the beers and played even worse. Your caddy looks a little but like my old caddy there called Dao. Krungthep Kritta next door is very nice!
Love the music BTW
I had one of those days last Sunday. 42 putts on the fastest greens I’ve ever played on. By the 10th hole, I was scared to putt, and it’s normally the best part of my game.
Looked like those greens were a 12 on the stimpmeter; tough to transition from your normal green speeds in Wales. Way to keep up that great attitude, James.
Yeah, they were quick especially the downhill putts of which I had many! lol :)
Back to back videos "best score ever" and "should I just quit". I think that covers golf quite nicely! Is having a caddie distracting at all?
I watched the other video first. Peaking out from behind the sofa watching this one. 😂
How come you’re back in Thailand James? Have you got a job over there? I’ve just got back myself but unfortunately didn’t get the chance to play golf. Looooooong flight too, especially on the way back
yea all been there James never played when in Thailand
Golf is not about the score! If it was everyone would quit! Keep playing!
We only have 11 hole open at moment. Shot -1 for 11 holes so buzzing. Enjoy your videos as it’s real honest golf.
It's an amazing feeling to play really well. You think you can take on the world! :)
Loving the beard mate!
You should find some mates to golf with you'll enjoy it more thanks for sharing
We've all had those rounds, fair play to you for posting it!
I didn't really want to post this one. That's why I had to return the next day to right the wrongs! :)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 and was well worth it!!
Definitely didn't commit to those bunker shots on 16 James! That's what happens when you're having a bad round but fair play for posting it looked brutal out there.
You're bang on about that bunker play. It was fresh sand and really dry so I was out of my depth lol :)
😂when you got to the par 5 I thought oh know!
The deciding factor for me would be 3 games after you think like this. It's not your score it's the enjoyment. If you still enjoy it keep going.
Enjoyable video. Perhaps the heat got to you
That is the way golf is, the 9 outsmarted you weren’t playing well just calm down and relax, find your tempo back get your revenge back on another 9!
Ouch, tough round
Playing golf in Thailand, happy days no matter what the card ends up saying.
I went to a pro golfer for help with my golf swing. He advised me to cut a foot off each golf club. I said will this improve my golf. He said no but they will fit in the bin better. 😮
I see you - getting some caddie action again …
Blame it on having a caddie... mind wasn't on the golf thinking about the massage instead 😂
Hi from Brasil, do you live in Thailand or just went there to play some golf?
Live in Thailand and spend the summers in the UK. I find it hard to play in the extreme heat so that's why my Thai golf games are always early morning or 9 holes in the late afternoon. Thanks for watching :)
Honestly, I would have most likely washed the golf bag. Way to keep your head!
There’s always bowls I suppose, then sell your clubs on e-bay
Why give up? We all have off days, never give up!
I have definitely had rounds like that
Please don't give up seriously we all have rounds like this, I have known myself feeling unable to hit a barn door from 10 yards, but as I have said before there is always a shot or putt that keeps calling you back😊
Hey, at least it can't get worse than this! haha :)
You're the best...just not that day!
My last two rounds have been like this. I feel like I've forgotten how to play
It's like your stuck trying to walk through treacle. Hope your best game returns soon! :)
Screw the golf, we are need to appreciate the impressive beard
Still better than a good day in the office😂😂
Like fishing
Ouch!!!
I'm not done with golf, I love the sport. I've given up on the UA-cam videos though.
I know what you mean. I've given up making golf UA-cam videos a few times but end up keep making them. The last time I gave up I met a subscriber at a course and his enthusiasm made me bring the camera to the course again! :)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 yea, I actually enjoy the process of making them. It's a bit defeating when you put in 10 hrs of editing for the video to get 100 views
Dude. We NEVER give up. But my approach may be something others wouldn’t appreciate me saying. About the first four-putt, I walk off. I mean, it’s CLEAR I don’t have it that day and simply torturing my self-esteem and confidence all day with bad shot after bad shot isn’t teaching me anything. I’m going to be better on a different day: experience proves that. I could come back another time, have fun, or challenge myself. Staying in a “death trap” isn’t going to do me any good at all AND it’s likely going to put me in a horrific mood. I just walk off. I’ll take it on another day.
Cheers mate, yeah some days we definitely don't have it and maybe I should have walked off and deleted the footage forever. I couldn't hit a barn door on this easy course! lol :)
When i started playing golf I didn't bother going on the golf course, well, not a decent one anyway. Practise fields, driving range, pitch and putt municipal golf course. I never bothered scoring my game for at least a year until I learned how to swing and hit the ball cleanly.
I used cheap clubs, cheap balls and practised swinging in front of a camera in the back garden to see my faults watching tuition tapes, adapt my swing.
The key points to learn golf which 99.9% of new golfers neglect first and foremost, is patience to drill in the fundamentals before anything else - grip, alignment, stance, posture, tempo.
When you put these disciplines into practise the swing comes naturally. Once consistency comes then you can learn to shape shots, get creative and improve the scoring short game inside 100 yards.
As my uncle used to tell me "you had to learn to crawl and walk before you had a need for fancy shoes."
Good advice. We all seem to learn the game the wrong way round!
@@notaperfectgolfer3489Ernie Els DVD from the late 90's was crucial to learning these fundamentals. Old skool 😉
Happy golfing 👍
That’s golf ⛳️ sometimes I feel as if I could go pro then others I think what’s going on.
It's all about how bad your bad shots are. This was a day to forget :)
A 217 yard par 5 ,did i read that right 😅
2nd shot 217
James are you a mi5 agent in disguise working in Thailand ?
That's what I thought.
I stay in Thailand long time just never golfed properly until Covid. Will be be back in the UK for summer golf :)
Played yesterday and total score was complete sh^t. However made 3 birdies and wedges were all over the flag. Could not drive the ball worth a *(&*^^!
Putting was like Tiger Woods in his prime.
Usually it is the opposite....this game will make you crazy.
We are all human
Dude bunker play 101 open that club face to sky and hit hard
My bunker play is consistently inconsistent :)
Umm, me and bunkers..
Watch your feet. They were aiming right on most shots.
Unlucky James.
You have an obvious misunderstanding of how a golf club works. You're attempting to move the clubhead in the direction of the desired ball flight and that's not how a golf club works. It is not a shovel or a baseball bat. You do not lift the ball into the air. If you learn to swing the club properly you could easily be shooting in the 70s.
I share in your misery James. I played yesterday had 6 pars and still shot a 93. PS: keep the beard!
Take some lessons lad, nice hat!
I'm looking for a coach who will give me info straight up. Not drip feed me techniques for a minimum of 6+ lessons...
It could have gone worse .. you might have fallen in the water and got bitten by something really nasty and ended up in a hospital ??? You lost your rhythm there James so it's just a case of being patient and moving on with a bit of practice. Funnily enough I usually find that I play better either in a second round or after hitting a few on the range. I more often than not pick up 4 to 6 shots the second time round. I assume it's because your muscles get the idea of how the swing is supposed to go. As far as the putting is concerned I have found that if you practice with a heavier putter even at home it helps swing a lighter one more smoothly. Might be worth trying. Once you get the heebees on the greens it can make it pretty miserable. I heard a horror story about an assistant pro who had, I believe, about 10 putts on a temporary green in an AP Tourney. 🥴
Wow, a 10-putt. That guy must have really had the yips! haha :)
@@notaperfectgolfer3489 Actually the assistant pro from my home club who I think played in that comp said that what happened was that it was a temp green in the summer with a bit of a slope and if you had an uphill one from a certain place it would go up to the hole but if it didn't go in it would come literally straight back at you. lol Funnily enough last summer I had a putt from a similar type place on one of the greens at a local course well known as a difficult putting course and had exactly the same thing from about 18ft. It came straight back after being within about 2ft and rolled off the green. The second one I made sure went just past the hole and fortunately it held. Two things you can do either tear your hair out or just chalk it up to experience.
1st
Well played Sir. Thanks for helping the YT algorithm ;)
don't use clickbait titles
Get some lessons mate as better technique will make you more consistent even on days you are t swinging you best
I will one day :)
You are too handsy at the start of your swing. They have no connection with the rest of your body. You must study the one piece takeaway to improve your game.
