Your stats can actually go above 100 in the sense of additional benefits. So for example you can have 120 Learning (though only 100 is shown) and thusg et 12 piety/month from it. Now this only applies to certain scenarios and not others (like difference between learning skill of two characters caps the maximum value of one characters at 100)

If you grab the diplo tree and reach Commission epic BEFORE becoming a king, the books become misc slot personal items instead of court ones, meaning you can stack way more lifestyle gain books if you're lucky
I managed to get 100 learning in just he 2nd generation starting as a non-custom character. I started as jarl heasting and I devorced my starting wife and got a new genius that birthed a genius son. I conquered sicily to give me a launching point to invade egypt from the abasids and becuase it was a kingdom invasion, it meant thatif I sieged down any other territory outside of the target kingdom, then that would be taken after the war, so I sieged down the kingdom of jeruslem and anexed that as well. I then converted to judaism which has almost all their holy sites in that one area and almost all of the holy sites give learning or learning per devotion. my heir was also had the max tier learning education. the final thing was upgrading the dome on the rock (jerusalem) into the the third temple (jewish spesific) which gives an extra 2 learning per level of divotion and finally I got max devotion on my character and boom, 100 learning, didnt even have to take bagdad.
See, this is why you have multiple heirs. If you use Scandinavian elect, your kingdom titles won't get split, plus your vassals will slowly get replaced by your kids who weren't the heir, and ideally they'll have good stats too so you can get an OP council that hopefully likes you since you're all related
yeah, you keep norse as dyre until the rus event, then still keep malleable invaders and elections, taking only druzina and mystics from russian. 1500 for kiev elections, you always win votes if you have 4/6 titles. If you get the norse voting for a kingdom, you keep it while having an empire, but it's cheap from the decision anyway. malleable is good if you hybridize with greek next, taking Kerch from byzantine then force the promote acceptance with steward, 10-20 years but you might get 20 acceptance instantly with hold court option. generally I also did Galycia-Volhynia kingdom, last run I had Ruthenia with chernigow and pereslav, which are the nearby ones. but there is a trick. Taking Turov duchy with 3 counties and taking Visby from sweden, it's the Gothland island, a single county duchy that gives you 3 duchies, form custom kingdom, lose gothland later and have a super tiny Konugardr Kingdom. There seems to be an event to swap capital to Gothland after a plague and get a bunch of development too, and you can swap back later. The real value in voting is that you fake out a vote, give your kid your other titles, like Kerch or something near Constantinople or a holy site or gold mine, then swap voting back to him and still gets your main titles while not losing the ones you already gave. Voters do vote with or against you (sometimes hating you can make your life easy by voting someone so they don't vote the same ) but main element is prestige. One easy way to do that, is getting the norse legacies 'send to varangian guard' option and send him for 350 prestige before he is married. can be repeated each 2 years and boosts prestige a lot. but just giving him money and landing in your capital in a city keeps him safe and might make feasts (eager reveler+gregarious+a city bonus to feasts) and he can do prestige on his own.
During my recent playthrough, a pope came to power with 51 learning and I was shooketh. I had him educate my heir and that somehow only gave the kid 13 learning.
genius counts for 40 learning alone because it's 20 points to education with 0.2, that number goes 40 to 120 then some other stuff and gets divided by 100, bit complex. same education trait is 0.4 point per trait and learning 0.2 of any education. so your auto generated holy order leaders with like 40-30 martial and learning would give best values for a martial based kid but still pale to a genius/intelligent educator. shrewd and quick same value and not that much but still decent, shrewd is lifestyle trait so you can have with a genius. court educator has to be patient or not inpatient at least. dilligent and scholar also helps a bit, sometimes. genius kid with genius educator is 65-69%ish to gain 2 points a year, the stars are based on how much they gained to the trait from age 3 to 16, so 13x2 max I think, base is 40-60 but 50-50 with any educator. it says 1 point per half year but the code just gives 2 or 0 per year. 16 points is 4 star and 12 is 3 star. kin legacy second perk studious youth is flat 4 points so generally a star higher than usual. base is higher with parents base higher (no traits and bonuses), I actually had a guy with 45 prowess before bonuses, artifacts and anything, pure vanilla early patches, just because the parents had high bases. that guy conquered a kingdom starting with a county and his kids became giant kings in sweden :D but it's not the most reliable, you can't plan that. but childhood traits are not random, if you imagine it like a pentagram, the 5 options are in between the 5 educations, so like steward comes from pensive or bossy, which can also be learning or martial. bossy seems to be more aggressive and bit more tyrannical, pensive guys are nicer but it's not guaranteed. you and your wife together, you add up the most stat, that will be the kids main education usually, so steward+steward and much more likely to be bossy or pensive, even their second highest trait will nudge the balance toward one of the two. intrigue geniuses are overrated, they can have like 27 intrigue and you get rowdy or charming more often. also very average over the board stats can give multiple different childhood trait kids. tried twins with different educators or educating them on my own and they are similar but not entirely, events hold more value. also if a kid has a trait the others will less likely get the same. one comes from education, one from faith sins/virtues and one from parents I guess, forcing 2 to the same, can make 2 siblings friends, 3 is rare but having exact opposites and being rivals (while sharing one) is not that rare.

Funny story, so I had this one son in a game that single handedly caused a syphilis outbreak by sleeping with his brother's wife, resulting in both of them and their kids (at least two of which were actually Mr Syphalis's kids) having it, then he tried to seduce his sister who fortunately wasn't incestous, but got several more courtiers sick, so I started forcing him to fight in battles, because I was sick of dealing with him - BUT HE JUST KEPT COMING BACK! @@Klymstra You only have a certain amount of money to develop your military or your counties. In fact, I'm sure the CK3 developers intended you to play more often with a balanced style of play, dividing some of your resources to be used for developing counties (Tall style) and conquering territories (Wide style). The only reason they are presented as opposites in these sorts of videos is that, in order to optimise either play style, you have to devote all your resources to that playstyle. with experience you can build better councils nowadays I always go more tax less levies, more levy reinforcement, either from martial or steward mid tree there is actually value pretending to be weak while being strong kiev is weird, because you are middle of tribal and estonia can be crayz strong tribal if you go feudal early, and 2-3 other kingdoms all around. also it's on edge of catholic, you shouldn't cross poland and hungary, and you supposed to go to orthodox but tribals are more fun. especially that you have pravda and asatru holy site (doesn't work for asatru? because the gate) khazaria is not that good, you can test them by raiding them and waiting retaliation in Kiev actually it's pretty good to convert to kiev to norse early, get the tradeport (might get a russian fish net veawers event with it) and markets and palisades early. now you raid, they raise an army, you go home delivering that 18-21 gold from babirusk/chernigov, they follow, get the debuff from crossing a river and the palisade walls. if they win they generally go home by the time your army resets, if you win easily 2-3x in a row you can attack them with wars. you need around 6-8k army with max man at arms and probably fort level and levy reinforcement. then you don't lose too much to trigger other wars. and triggering attackers brings you a lot of gold if they lose, while you have no attrition at home and a few bonuses, just draging around armies will kill them slowly. lot of places the terrain matters most. like Budapest is between rivers and you can mess up attackers by making them run across forts. most fun is fighting 2 or more opponents for same goal and drag them on each other :D with wards and wardens dlc the mongols with 5 star djinghis brought 120k army vs my 40 getting almost no attrition and having my previous vassals siege units. my advanced upgraded walls took 5 months to siege and they didn't lose much to attrition due to the 5 star perk bonuses. but usually 35k with reinforcement just enough to move around in one stack and not lose much to attrition, above 50k is overkill and will go down to 35k just the same from 100k and 60k and knights and maa does the most work anyway. last kiev run I tried not taking the easy fruit and my vassals did it for me. like not taking moldavia, they still kind of survived and buffered Hungary, I had zero interaction with them. I guess you could eliminate slovaskian pravda early. some raids come in from babies and retaliating or not makes relations worse. the only councillor I don't mind having on 10-14 is my diplo guy so generally my relations with neighbors go worse. keeping an army on capital while attacking others can be useful vs tribals. but going wide and letting it explode can be a good strategy too. getting the empire and the amenities and man at arms, acolytes and stuff, then piss of the liberty faction and let them go. you still keep the empire (default setting) in case of kiev, you need that 8k to become house head or the ai spends the perks for legacies so you can't really do super tall. you could kill your relatives but it's kind of random if Dyre is intrigue heavy but always stresses out when relatives die.

The best culture for a learning play style and rapid development increase is Persian due to their traditions. I had really fun time abusing the gardener court position unique to Persian which an excellent one will give 0.7 development growth and the philosopher thingy will make curious and pensive more common.
@@OttawaWelshman yeah honestly it's broken. Also there are many special buildings that you can take advantage of in your de jure empire. There's a special building in Isfahan (de jure capital of Persia) which gives 25 percent development growth and 0.2 monthly growth which can be stacked with gardener to get 0.9 growth, this building is only for Muslims and Zoroastrians. Other special buildings are house of wisdom in Baghdad which gives 20 percent growth and 0.2 monthly growth, a mosque in samarra which gives the same bonuses of the house of wisdom, these are only for Muslim faiths unfortunately. There's another special building but it's only for shias, imam Ali mosque in kufa which gives 30 percent dev growth and 0.2 monthly growth. If you want to pursue the Chad Zoroastrian way, there are many holy sites and temples around Persia but you need to build them and they give dev growth or at least most of them give. But I recommend to stay sunni preferably ashari because Baghdad is a holy site for ashari and if they have it which they have it the start of the game, it gives all of asharis 10 percent dev growth. You can do it with other sunni faiths but you have to actually conquer Baghdad to get the bonus, also nestorian Christianity has the very same bonus. Later you can convert to alevi faith which is a learning focus faith because they have both esoteric and literalism.

Things you could have done better: -4:40 While avoiding to have more than 1 legitimate son can be a good move to avoid realm partition, betrohing your character to a baby was pointless. The smart way to do it is instead marrying a venerable old lady (who is already infertile) with good skills. Your next mistake was breaking up with your genius ex-wife. You could have kept her around as a lover (or got a new younger lover) and sired genius illegitimate offspring that would not inherit your land, but can still be married off for alliances and could be legitimized when your one heir dies. -7:60 Get the philosopher culture tradition, which increases your chances for the pensive childhood trait and gives the learning education and scholar traits additional boosts for your cultural fascination. It's the best cultural trait you can have if you want to play high learning rulers and speedrun cultural progress.
It does depend on traits because some suites of trait are just unsuited to some of the easiest ways of managing the various gauges in CK3 - but I would say that an entirely free pool of stats in a spouse for 15+ years is worth managing the stress, and you can often find barren 30-40 year olds with decent stats anyway! :)

actually it's pretty good to convert to kiev to norse early, get the tradeport (might get a russian fish net veawers event with it) and markets and palisades early. now you raid, they raise an army, you go home delivering that 18-21 gold from babirusk/chernigov, they follow, get the debuff from crossing a river and the palisade walls. if they win they generally go home by the time your army resets, if you win easily 2-3x in a row you can attack them with wars. you need around 6-8k army with max man at arms and probably fort level and levy reinforcement. then you don't lose too much to trigger other wars. and triggering attackers brings you a lot of gold if they lose, while you have no attrition at home and a few bonuses, just draging around armies will kill them slowly. lot of places the terrain matters most. like Budapest is between rivers and you can mess up attackers by making them run across forts. most fun is fighting 2 or more opponents for same goal and drag them on each other :D
with wards and wardens dlc the mongols with 5 star djinghis brought 120k army vs my 40 getting almost no attrition and having my previous vassals siege units. my advanced upgraded walls took 5 months to siege and they didn't lose much to attrition due to the 5 star perk bonuses. but usually 35k with reinforcement just enough to move around in one stack and not lose much to attrition, above 50k is overkill and will go down to 35k just the same from 100k and 60k and knights and maa does the most work anyway.
last kiev run I tried not taking the easy fruit and my vassals did it for me. like not taking moldavia, they still kind of survived and buffered Hungary, I had zero interaction with them. I guess you could eliminate slovaskian pravda early. some raids come in from babies and retaliating or not makes relations worse. the only councillor I don't mind having on 10-14 is my diplo guy so generally my relations with neighbors go worse. keeping an army on capital while attacking others can be useful vs tribals.
but going wide and letting it explode can be a good strategy too. getting the empire and the amenities and man at arms, acolytes and stuff, then piss of the liberty faction and let them go. you still keep the empire (default setting)
in case of kiev, you need that 8k to become house head or the ai spends the perks for legacies so you can't really do super tall. you could kill your relatives but it's kind of random if Dyre is intrigue heavy but always stresses out when relatives die.
props to this dude for making no spelling mistakes in Kyiv... everytime i see Kiev it pisses me off 💀💀💀
also here's how to pronounce Kyiv and Galicia-Volhynia:

Well done, putting part 2 in thw discription. i don't know how often i looked for that on yt and people just don't it .
Hahaha I hate when that happens to me! I used to have it in a pinned comment too but i lost all my pinned comments, big RIP
@@OttawaWelshman i havent put content myself on youtube. Can one still change existing discriptions after a couple of days or weeks? If yes, i just don't get why noone would help their own content by linking them together like this. If i am through with a vid and looking for the next follow up in a series, the selection bar on the right from yt doesnt always give the correct order or the next vid at all. So making sure the viewer gets that link is pretty much essential that those other vids also are reached i would guess.

Really Funny! After having John, You could also had remarried a Old Lady with High Learning! Setting her as Patronage, you bump your Learning bumping the Kid training... ;)

Kiev was the way the russians spelled/pronounced it when it was in their possession. Kyiv is the Ukrainian spelling/pronunciation
Hello from Ukraine!🇺🇦🇺🇦
The different pronounciations are because Ukrainian and Russian are seperate cultures and languages. They're both east slavic, sure, so there're some similarities, but also many differences.
The Ukrainian language is really just a dialect of Russian
@@johnconnor8206 Oh yes and English is really just a dialect of German.
@@000Dragon50000 ok the words for castle and hi are the same. The words for city and culture are almost the same with a 1 letter difference the same word for farm sea the word for market is super close same word for sheep harvest and gun

Hey I'm kinda new to ck3, I got a question maybe someone can help.
If your goal was to max the developpement in the big brain county why didnt you build cities instead of castles ?
Thanks for your great video :D
@@OttawaWelshman
Oooh I see, so it's to take full advantage of the one-county culture
Thanks a lot ! 😄
Also, not everybody pronounces Kyiv/Kiev differently, Kyiv is Ukrainian pronounciation, and then there is Russian pronounciation which everyone in the world is used to because Kyiv was under Russian rule and with Russian language enforced.
Wow, learn something new every day!
Things you could have done better:
-4:40 While avoiding to have more than 1 legitimate son can be a good move to avoid realm partition, betrohing your character to a baby was pointless.
Bigger big brain: don't get betrothed to a child to manage heirs - marry an infertile lady with the highest stats so you keep benefiting from spouse!
Fr
It does depend on traits because some suites of trait are just unsuited to some of the easiest ways of managing the various gauges in CK3 - but I would say that an entirely free pool of stats in a spouse for 15+ years is worth managing the stress, and you can often find barren 30-40 year olds with decent stats anyway! :)
@@Sparhafoc Don't risk women below fourty five. I had a guy marry a forty year old and still manage to have three kids with her (which was actually good, since all his other kids died in a smallpox outbreak right after he married her, so he needed new ones, but that wasn't what I'd originally intended...)
Good video
Full on thought that one heir's name was Depression.
It`s actually kinda cringe seing all those territories in the east of europe called "russian". They were not russian. There were a bunch of different east slavic tribes out there that later were united under Rus`, where ruthenians lived (also called rusins). And they were not russian. It`s like saying that romanians lived in Italy and founded the Roman Empire
They had similar culture and spoke the same language, so it is acceptable to cal call them russians.
@@Abom-qx7xz dude what ▪︎_▪︎ . Why don't unite all germans, they all speak same language. Why don't unite all latin speaking countries because at that time they all spoke latin. Do you even know what a word "russian" means and what it references to?
