@Hobo Habsburg befriending councilors makes them better at their jobs if its something that has a progress bar, so increasing control, promoting dev growth, all go much faster but stuff like collect taxes or men at arms maintenance wont make them better at that since it doesn't have a progress bar

With the Royal Court DLC, Welsh is now, in the opinion of my one annoyingly competent friend, one of THE best cultures, to the point where his biggest goal in most games is to find a way to hybridize with them for their ridiculous longbowmen.
I love playing tall. My favorite start is Brittany. It's a kingdom consisting of one duchy with 7 counties, perfect size so you can control all of the holdings without needing too high a stewardship and you don't have to deal with any vassals (or at most a couple of mayors). Plus you control every county of the Breton culture so you'll always be the culture head. Once you get primogeniture you'll have an extremely stable kingdom.
I'm playing Malta as a vassal of the Byzantines (With a few mods to make it somewhat viable), very fun to pretty much play as a mercenary/holy order and only have to manage 1 county.
I favor Sardinia myself, but it's much the same as Brittany, I imagine. Fairly large duchy( or maybe that's only with Corsica?), ALL of it is coastal so you can build tradeports everywhere, and it's fairly easy to either convert to Catholicism and befriend Italy or France, or maintain Orthodoxy and join the ERE.
@@TheAngryXenite Yeah I've done both and it's a pretty similar situation. Sardinia has those mines too, which is really nice. A lot more competition for territory going on over there though and a little more work to set up initially, which is why I tend to go for Brittany because I like a pretty chill game for the most part. Sardinia is great though.
@@meowzebub9667 Sardinia is my favorite starting place. It`s super easy to defend, as the only way there is by boat. I focused a military only castle in the one mountain tile, so I could defend it extremely easy. Even 10:1 Numbers of the enemy weren`t a problem. Had a holy war declared by the muslims for Sardinia, and slaughtered basically 100.000 enemy soldiers over the course of the war, as we only chased around the island and sometimes ambushed them in the mountains. Plus Sieges take super long, because I was able to max out my walls pretty early on.

Great video! I'm playing an Ironman game where I started as the Duke of Holland in 867. Currently in 1295 as the Emperor of the custom empire of Frisia, and I've completed all technologies in the Late Medieval Era. I'm earning close to 600 gold a month and have a pile of 120,000 gold lying around. My capital county of Holland has development of 95, and the Dutch counties in general have the highest development in the world. Playing tall is easily the best strategy in CK3, and is actually quite OP. It especially helps if you have a few counties with more than 3 holdings in it, since you can always add more castles to boost your economy and military. Some tips are: - Always keep the steward on increasing county development, with first priority on your capital county, and second priority on your other counties that share your culture, and third priority on vassal counties that share your culture. - Always keep the marshal to training commanders, since it reduces men-at-arms maintenance, which nets you more gold per month, and gives your free knights. - If you take the golden obligations perk, set your spymaster to finding secrets. Start blackmailing everyone and watch as they pour out their coffers to keep you quiet. Strong hooks are especially valuable since you can demand payment every five years. - If possible, marry your ruler to someone who has very high stewardship, and set her to manage domain. Half of her stewardship stats will be added to yours, increasing your demesne limit as well as your taxes. - It is even better if you can get the genius trait into your family, since it gives you additional 30% lifestyle points, and gives better education traits to your wards.
Loving your videos. The cheeky Welsh references and silly one offs are perfectly done - not overdone. I'm also in the middle of my own Wales unification run and you've now inspired me to pivot this run to play a lot taller than I've ever done. I really liked this video! The only thing I want to add is that if you really wanted to focus on development you could build cities rather than temples whenever you can. You don't get as much in gold/levies but it has the guilds building option which gives the same development bonus as tradeports. Little bit of a tradeoff as you won't be making as much gold but I like trying to get my development as high as I can as fast I can, just to see when I can catch up to Rome/Constantinople/Madrid

Had a pretty fun campaign as the King of Georgia in 1066. Became vassal of Byzantines and stayed a loyal vassal (mostly) for 300 years. Focused on playing tall and building up development and buildings. And fighting wars or murdering to put dynasty members in power including Syria, Jerusalem, Serbia, and Pontus. Playing tall is super fun and can be very rewarding if you play it well. The last tall game I played I had maxed out my buildings in the duchy of Holland, but was pretty much a nobody. But because of my strong tall economic backbone I managed to grab hold of 2 extra dutchies and found The Netherlands after I broke free from my liege (lotharingia). With a holy war I took over viking Denmark and thanks to the buy claim perk in the scholar learning lifestyle tree I managed to take over East Francia. With some more bought claims I was able to take over Lotharingia as well and was deep into pomerania. I then was able to combine the kingdoms of Denmark, The Netherlands, East Francia and Lotharingia into The Dutch Empire. Within a single lifetime I went from being a duke from some backwater duchy to the ruler of a giagantic european empire.

Hey there! I'm not Welsh but I love playing Wales in ck. Pro tip. Next time yo want a perfect succession, give the kingdom title the feudal elective law and hold some lands outside of Wales by either on your own or by vassals and inside Wales have 2 duchies completely and max 1 vassal. This will ensure all the lands are inherited by the person of your choice. You can even take this further by owning literally no land outside but getting another kingdom title. For example I have a play through atm and I did what I just described but also took the kingdom of England with no land inside England. Still confederate partition, but no matter how many children I have I can choose whoever to inherit all my lands and both kingdoms. If you get another kingdom title that you want more, you can make that your primary for a second and switch back to the one with the election law and voilà.
I should thank you too! I was already going tall as much as I could but I learned a lot from this video, like the fact that the diligent trait helps with development and such. Next playthrough I'll go even taller (in my current playthrough I was already more powerful than the hre in 4 generations so I will literally just turn into Emperor Palpatine in the next)
This looks like a really fun way to play. I wonder if they finally made it so you can upgrade land size/max amount of total holdings in county yet? Like you could in CK2 through event.
The current best place to play tall is Southern India. There's a county there that has like 5 or 6 holdings and starts at 25 (I think) development in 1066, and has Tamil culture, which isn't very large. The result is +100 a month and 100 development by 1250. I had all the High Medieval techs a hundred years early.
Also, am now using your play tall strategy out of necessity. There are a lot of powerful realms in my playthrough. I'm the king of Sardinia. I don't have much land. So instead I just throw every bit of money that I get from hassling the pope, or my citizens into buildings. Now I'm looking at 14 gold a month. And soon I will add upgrades to my mining building.

Man, your channel is great! Loving ck3 content
@@OttawaWelshman Just keep pumping them and you will blow up 100%
Good editing. i enjoyed it very much, gonna sub
That was enjoyable to watch! I'm gonna give this strategy a go now
i really like seeing u play keep it up you just need to be lucky with the algorithm !
Loved that moment when you decided „Love is about quantity not quality!“ and in the next moment you got murdered... 😂
@@OttawaWelshman I bet one or all of your wives were involved in that murder plot 😂
great vid love the strat and welsh playthrough
Hi I really enjoyed this! I think it’d be really cool if you started a randomized dynasty play through. Another content creator is doing it, it’s a mod where when you die you play as a random landed member of your dynasty. The idea being you build up the dynasty rather than blobbing out.
Just an idea, I think it’s be a very interesting way to play and fun to watch. I think it’s Quil18 playing it but I cannot remember.
I’ll get right back to you

is co a link to the video series, the link is in his description
I always play as 1066 Buchan in Fife. I thought that was bad lol spoiled with 3 holdings over there. Just found ya, great vids. Much love from the other side of Canada.
Welsh: prosper hugely by living in peace and reinvesting in the economy.
Middle Age Nobility: *surprised Pikachu face*
Playing Something similar now with Bohemia and Czech Culture. You have the gold mine and with Prague a nearly perfekt county and perfect duchy because they are all around prague. And they all have a lot of free slots for Tempels or cities
After naming your son after that welsh town im hooked 😂😂😂
And we're in the same city! good to know im not the one one in Ottawa playing CK3
When i found out how op title elections were when playing tall, I thought everyone knew, but happy more people know
I played tall Holland. This land has some amazing landmarks and good fertility, so this tactic becomes even more OP
i love your style of editing, the length of the ck3 vids are great. not too long, not too short, just great.
if i may suggest a future video goal: make jerusalem jewish again and restore the jewish head of faith and keep it till idk 1300? or if its too long maybe for a shorter period of time.
While not Welsh, I am from New South Wales, Australia. So I shall join in spirit! Or something.
Absolutely brilliant stuff love watching your videos
This seems like so much fun. I'm always Mr. Serious when playing CK3.
This looks like a really fun way to play. I wonder if they finally made it so you can upgrade land size/max amount of total holdings in county yet? Like you could in CK2 through event.
I have so much to learn. The more I watch the more I realize I know nothing, Jon Snow.
What can I say buddy 😃 amazing video literally I'm learning a lot from your videos. You made a Welshman proud
@@OttawaWelshman honestly mate when you get patron I'll be a loyal supporter like
Love those "challenge" videos! gives me a lot of inspiration!
I learn so much here. Love it
The current best place to play tall is Southern India. There's a county there that has like 5 or 6 holdings and starts at 25 (I think) development in 1066, and has Tamil culture, which isn't very large. The result is +100 a month and 100 development by 1250. I had all the High Medieval techs a hundred years early.
Also that feudal elective tip is awesome!
Daughter and wife? Yep, you're Welsh.
I subscribed! This put a smile on my face :DDD
Hey there, great video, I have to subscribe. The contents about the sheep it’s just too funny.
@@OttawaWelshman No problem.
You should prioritize cities not temples. Cities have guild halls and trade ports which are basically the same but = more development
Just subbed man, love this content.
