    Runtime 65 minutes
    This year’s newsreel starts in March and features Burnley fan and Radio 1 DJ, Jordan North finishing his marathon 100 mile row along Britain’s canal network which ended at Finsley Gate Wharf.
    On the 30th of April, Burnley Film Makers club which began in August 1931 held its 90th Anniversary open day at Burnley Central Library with displays and stands from local film makers and archive films of the town.
    On the May Day Bank Holiday our cameras visited the Worsthorne Scarecrow Festival and the Higham Family Fun Day and the Horses and Pony Protection Associate, HAPPA in Briercliffe held an open day on the 2nd of June.
    In June, there were numerous events celebrating the Queens Platinum Jubilee. The Lawrence Hotel in Padiham held special a day for ‘Elizabeth’s.’ The Jubilee Beacon was lit at the Singing Ringing Tree at Crown Point overlooking Burnley and also at Thievely Pike.
    Events at the Queens Hotel in Cliviger featuring the Cliviger Ukulele Band and fund raising day at Towneley for our armed forces.
    Platinum Jubilee street parties were held across the region and our cameras visited parties at Hollins Avenue, Whitpark Grove and Wilkie Avenue in Burnley and Leyland Close in Trawden. There was a Platinum Jubilee parade in Rosegrove and at the Briercliffe Community Centre on Queen Street in Harle Syke which Burnley Mayor Cosima Towneley opened. Burnley centre saw the first Artisan market take place in July and followed by the Orange Order’s parade along St James Street.
    The Building Bridges day took place in Burnley’s Queens Park and at Towneley Park a charity football match took place between teams of veteran Clarets. Uniformed Services days took place at Towneley and at Finsley Gate Wharf in July a Heritage Day showed the centres blacksmith in action.
    In early June the Padiham 1940s weekend took place and was followed by the street parade on the Sunday morning. The Rotary Club’s Classic Car show took place at Towneley Hall and gardens and also the Briercliffe annual festival.
    The Jane Tomlinson Run For All 10K Road Race took place on Sunday 17th of July, starting and ending at Turf Moor.
    The 66th Padiham Annual Flower Show took place at Padiham Town Hall on Saturday 27th of August after a two year postponement following the COVID pandemic.
    Queen Elizabeth passed away on the 8th of September and the film highlights a number of events in Burnley including the signing of the book of condolence and the proclamation of King Charles at Burnley’s Peace Garden. Turf Moor also paid its tribute to the passing of the monarch.
    The Queens funeral took place at 11:00am on Monday the 19th of September, a bank holiday and film of an empty Burnley town centre on the Monday morning is shown.
    Finally this year’s newsreel concludes with the annual bonfire and fireworks display at Towneley park on Saturday November 5th featuring a fire eater, funfair and fireworks.

    Another fantastic hour or more of footage.... You make my home town feel so alive, full of spirit, and value. And your work is really invaluable
