Burnley Empire Heritage Tour September 2023

In September 2023, the Burnley Empire Theatre Trust opened the doors of the old theatre which is undergoing extensive restoration work to the public for the first time. Take the tour with Theatre Trust member Sophie Gibson and chartered surveyor Richard Clews.

My father was the manager of the Empire Cinema up to 1956. It was occasionally used for live theatrical performances at week ends. I used to wander around the upper balcony and film projection box which wasn't open to the public. Happy days!

I used to go there as a 7 or 8 yr old when it was a cinema with my grandma to watch Elvis and Norman wisdom films lovely building and memories😁
