You probably dont care but if you guys are bored like me atm then you can stream pretty much all the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been binge watching with my gf recently =)
@Yosef Reese yup, been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself :D
Is the stylized environment tutorial included in the premium subscription?
@@pclarkson85 Hi, it is not included in the Subscription.
@@3dextrude thank you for the reply 🙇
I really love that you're back to narrating your videos like in your old tutorials, truly helpful! Great work, keep it up!
Awesome, thank you!
Dude your videos have given me purpose lol. I've been modeling every day after watching your stuff to challenge myself and improve my workflow exponentially. You ROCK my dude
That is awesome! Thank you and glad the videos are helping
I tried alot of different techniques but i cant sculpt a good rock... its so abstract!!
yeah, it's not easy. it's one those things you have to practice a lot, highly recommend looking at reference images or even other people's 3d rocks
Try TrimSmoothBorder brush (, -> Brush, -> Trim) + square alpha. For me, this became the main brush for modeling stones. As for the references, I looked a lot and came to the conclusion that it is impossible to draw a non-realistic stone, because the fold creates such miracles that if I had not seen the photo, I would not have believed that such stones could exist)
Great tips!
You are one of the best for stylized stuff on youtube, if not the best. Thanks for sharing your wisdom with peasants like us
I appreciate that!
this hamburger looks hard to bite
haha it does kinda look like it
First comment :-)
Man those stones are from Dragon Ball. XD
Haha maybe
Hy, where do I find your brushes?
Hey bro, nice video, i have a question, if I make rocks to videogame is it necessary pack 4 meshes for only one material? , Or I should use 1 material by rocks
depends on the texture resolution and constraints of the game, personally I think if the rocks are similar they should share the same material.
How did you apply the normal map after the new unwarped done on the decimated model? I am not getting it...please help
Not sure what you mean, I made uvs for the decimated model and the normal map is baked in Substance by loading the high poly model in the bake settings
for baking a high and a low poly, does it have to be uv's for high poly? cause I saw you didn't do any.
The high poly doesn't need uvs, just the low poly model since you are transferring the details to the low poly
Once you've exported both the high and the low poly rock from SubPainter, which one do you import inside Maya for the retopology and the uv cuts ?
If you need to retopo and uv, use the high poly model you made in zbrush, but decimated it first so it's not too high poly.
Can you give information about stylised material that you created in substance painter?
Nice video... I really like it.😍
I made it a while ago and have been using since for most stylized models. I made a tutorial on how to make it : gumroad.com/l/paintertut
Amazing, just the other day I started focusing on making 3d rocks, and in just last 2-3 this is 4:th or 5:th tutorial that comes up to me on rocks. Is this Law of Attraction in Action? :)
haha probably
Wow just awesome and amazing
U are the best
Hi! I have a question... Why do you bake in substance painter twice? And what for? Thanks!
bake twice? I don't. I bake some maps separately just to see if there are any artifacts.
@@3dextrude Oh.. i didnt notice that jajaja Sorry!
Amazing! Is there a video where you describe how you built your stylized smart material? keep up the good work :)
There is : gumroad.com/l/paintertut
Do you have a video on creating your own stylized materials? I really like the look of yours but would also like to know how to make my own from scratch! Also, very helpful video, thanks!
yeah, I made a tutorial on the material I typically use : gumroad.com/l/paintertut
Thanks again for your great tutorials, i like that you've added voice comments over it, but i prefer the music you choosed before instead of jazzy lounge ones.
Thank you for the feedback, I might try with the other type of music just a little worried it might be more distracting
I want zbrush so bad. Wish my school wasn’t closed so I could use it. I used to follow along with your videos teaching myself at school after class.
Not sure if they have a 30 day trial or similar , might be worth looking into.
@@3dextrude don't want to start this vs that fights but 3dcoat is overpowered for rocks
Very useful ❤️....
I love your videos very much!
Great to hear!
Hey, nice video, but I have a question, I applied your stylised material onto the rock, however it's just a solid colour, following everything you do but the material in your video looks alot brighter in colour, changing things like colour variation you can see noticeable changes to your design, when I do it, nothing happens it's just sitting there this 1 solid dark orange colour, any ideas?
That sounds odd, have you bake all the maps from the bake settings?
@@3dextrude hey, yeah I baked all the maps, I have just realised that when I bake the high poly onto the low poly, it actually stays as a low poly there is no visual change, and no change in the UVW, any advice? I have done low to high poly baking before and never had this problem, not sure what the problem is now
@@eimantaspauliusivanovas9287 Are you baking by mesh names? If so I would double check the names match. Depending on your pc if the high poly file is really large there may be issues when baking so if it's a zbrush high poly I would look to decimate it before export.
@@3dextrude thanks will have a look tonight, not looked at the polycount tbf, so will have a look and try again 😁 thank you
how do you select separate objects after duplicating, I can see you can only select the last one or invert the mask but you seam to select pieces individually how to do that?
I duplicated as separate subtools so they can be selected separately. If you are working in one subtool you can set polygroups-autogroups and this way you can mask them and also work with them individually
@@3dextrude with polygroups you can't work the same if you select one others disappear, shift+ctrl, how you mask polygroups cant find any info: the goal is to gave them all visible but mask individual parts
@@lucidstorm123 you can view an individual polygroup, invert the selection and mask the others, then bring everything back into view. You can also split the models into subtools as well if necessary.
@@3dextrude instead they should make H to select individual pieces directly from the viewport , but no it's better to dance around settings. Thanks bro, appreciate what you're doing. Please do some vietnam thai rocks yellow brown , nobody did that
Thank you so much for your amazing videos!
Glad you like them!
How can I duplicate?
In Zbrush you can go to the subtools tab and there should be a button to duplicate in that area.
witch remender to use 3d program maya o blender?
for rendering you mean? I use Marmoset Toolbag. Honestly you can use either one, I have seen great renders from each
3dEx I mean the best program for 3d en general :)
Man, I really need to learn substance painter..
It's fun once you get the hang of it!
@@3dextrude I thought I'll get away with handpainting and for most part I do but seeing how easily you texture up a whole model? This would have taken me half a day to handpaint properly..
@@LaszloIvanyi Yeah, you can get a lot done with Painter, could even use it as base for a more hand painted look
I love your channel.
Awesome
Step 1: be amazing sculptor
Step 2: make stylized rock
why not both :)
