Terima kasih for joining us on our adventures in Sumatra! We are so grateful to live in such a beautiful place - and even more grateful that we get to share it with you guys! If you'd like to help us care for our SIX cats (and provide treatment for others as needed), please consider buying us a bag of catfood at this link (it only costs $2, but makes a huge difference for the cats we care for!) www.buymeacoffee.com/exploresumatra
My weekly children fix LOL !! It was so lovely having them "stuck " here for over two years - it was the first time we had met Agung - he got to know his inlaws very well! A highlight was when they got married here 💛 Great to see them happy in Agung's country - love the video. I think Floof needs some more guard- cat training to deal with chickens and Penny is doing well as a teenage? Momma. You live in a beautiful spot - enjoy xxxx🌻🌻🌻
Really enjoying watching your videos. I'm planning on taking a year off in a few years to travel around south-east Asia. Sumatra looks like a lovely part of the world. I've added it to the list of places to travel.
Thanks so much for commenting! Fantastic to hear you're enjoying the videos - we loce making them too! So awesome you have a plan to travel around SEA, and really glad to hear that Sumatra is on your list, as so many people stop at Bali! :)
Masha'allah, I'm in the process of trying to move quite close to you guys right now. I had a bit of a look around Bukit Lawang, Medan and Pangkalan Susu so far. But haven't found yet where I'd like to settle. I really appreciate the honesty and lack of pride etc in this video, I look forward to seeing some more of the insights you have posted in your videos... May God reward your efforts.
Terima kasih! How exciting you will be moving to North Sumatra! It is hard to decide where to settle as there are so many excellent places. Feel free to send us an email (exploringsumatra@gmail.com) if you'd like to chat about anything! Best of luck with the move 😊
Hello from CA. Living without constant stress is beautiful! If you are comfortable, please talk about expenses in Lake Toba: did you build your home? Can you own/lease land? Carly, when you talk about medical, saya mengerti. When i was in my 30s, 40s traveling in Indonesia and got sick with malaria and typhoid, i would stay at a dr's house(Java, Timor & New Guinea). Please find a medical care practitioner and let us know, as sometimes you cannot fly out immediately upon injury. "Cinta hidup yang Anda jalan' Any comments about Malang? Very surprised but not shocked as I have worked in high schools where kids get so emotional over a game!
Hello Liz! It is somewhat surreal living without stress after being bombarded with it for so long! We thought about doing a video about cost of living but weren't sure it would be interesting enough. Even as Agung's spouse, I can't own land. But he can buy it in his name for us, and we can make a legal agreement of some sort. We are renting the house we live in at the moment for 30 million rupiah per year. We would LOVE to buy land and build in Lake Toba but the land prices in Tuk Tuk are equivalent to those in NZ, putting them well out of reach! For now, we will just rent here and enjoy it while we figure out where to settle permanently. Outside of Lake Toba, we can afford to buy and build at a fraction of the price. Just so hard to leave this spot as we love it so much! Thanks for your comments about medical care - it is a priority on my list to get that sorted. The events in Malang are massively tragic. What an awful waste of life. It sounds like the way these football games are managed is under review, just a shame it took such a horrible thing to make that happen.
Hi Kaz - thanks so much for your comment! So many great spots to live outside of Bali. We spent 18 months living in Bali/Gili Trawangan pre-COVID, but as lovely as it is, it can't compare to Sumatra for us (especially Lake Toba!) We also know quite a few expats living in Sumatra - most in Bukit Lawang, but also some in Tangkahan, Nias, Padang... lots of great places to choose from :)
Hi, I love your video and how your treat animals, also ROSITA, congratulations, I would like to live for a while in Sumatra next to the lake where you live, please can you tell me how much the rental of houses costs, I was born in Granada Spain, I have two nationalities, I am a poet and I write short stories, thank you very much, a cordial greeting from Australia...
Hola Antonio - thanks so much for your message and for watching our channel! We really do love our animals, and Rosita almost as much haha. Lake Toba is a fantastic place to live. Here in Tuktuk, there aren't so many houses for rent (not like in Bali where there are hundreds of villas), but there are a few around. We have seen some as low as 5 million IDR (around $500 AUD) per year and some as much as 35,000,000 (around $3500) per year. The cheaper ones are obviously much smaller and more basic, but still nice enough. We currently pay near the higher end for ours because we absolutely love the location (perfect for our cats) and those views! I think this is a great place for a writer to live, so quiet and inspiring. Feel free to reach out if you want to know more: you can email us at exploringsumatra@gmail.com

bang disana aman soal gempa
Ya - kami tidak merasakan gempanya di sini. Semua aman - terima kasih.🙏
winter is coming ,jadi seharusnya org eropa pergi ke indonesia menghindari cuaca yg dingin tanpa pemanas dari gas rusia :v
Betul! Lebih enak di indonesia daripada winter di eropa. 😀
