don't forget to create and update a map of all your underground infrastructure- for repairs and digging around the place.... maybe install a water holding tank in the event you loose power or low flow in the creek.
Yes, a few IBC tanks will help you keep water on the land. Maybe one on each terrace would be good. I didn’t quite understand why the water in the river isn’t drinkable.
@@edvardfranke many many homes in arid areas use water tanks there are many homes I know of that only have water in tanks as they have to go get it and truck it in.
Great job Maya, with your citrus trees, pull all the blossoms off for the first two years. The tree will expend its energy on growing itself and getting stronger, than producing fruit. You will end up with much sturdier trees. It is tempting to have the fruit come through, but in the long run, you will benefit so much more from stronger healthier trees. Good on you and what a great transformation on the land and you 😊
most people here in the U.S. buy off grid land NOT THINKING about water... water is LIFE and without it there is NO LIFE !!! i spend 3 1/2 yrs looking for the perfect property/land. i am so glad you found water and are making good use of it nice job.
Good work, Maya, Chris, and Paul. How kind of you guys to help her, you all worked hard. Developing your homestead, Maya, is like a landscape painting in progress.
Maya I absolutely love your videos. I spend hours every day, watching, catching up on all you did before I found you. You are always so happy and cheerful and that makes me happy and cheerful. I have tackled projects like you before and thoroughly enjoyed them. It's very exciting seeing you doing all you do. I truly admire you. You are a very amazing woman.
Wow Maya - What a wonderful water system you now have. A terrific leap forward in your project which I think will be fabulous. Hard work but so worth it. Big thanks to the ever helpful and wonderful Paul. Christoff will be learning so much in his time with you. Many Congratulations - See you next time - Blessings/Hilaryxx
My husband and I were so concerned for you when we hadn’t seen a new video for awhile. I know you post about once a week. But a young woman alone in the bush, anything could happen.
Congratulations. Its an awesome feeling to have water coming out of a tap! I too have recently installed a water supply on my homestead, off grid of course, for my animals to drink. it will also serve a garden as I plan to grow veg in 2024. Im Really enjoying the progress you are making good luck and happy biulding
Wow! What a great effort you guys made. Glad to see Cristoph and Paul helping you. I hope that Cristoph was able to relax and enjoy the beautiful scenery and serenity as well. That looked like such labour intensive hard work. Well done!! Xx
Great progress , maybe pumping the river water to water tank located at high land point will give constant water pressure by gravity to tapes .. just an idea😊
My thoughts also. Pumping one pipe up to a holding tank is much easier to run many hose DOWN to the house and gardens. Saves on pumping water every time you want to use it.
Hi Maya, i am watching all your uploads as they popup. You are so hard working and i am amazed with your talents and determination. Keep up your good work. From Canada with love.
If you decide to store extra water in tanks try to use tanks that are deep in color not clear or white! The darker ones slow any growth that comes from too much sun on the water. I keep about 800 liters (200 gallons +/-) in 4 dark grey tanks for use on my plants. They refill via drains coming from the roof. I add 1 cup of vinegar per 200 liters two times per year when standing (or every time they drain) to keep any growth to a minimum. It works well! Best of luck with your project.
You need about 30 to 40 people to get the property looking nice. All the rocks and weeds could be gone or rocks used to make seating walls. For gardens or flowers beds.
Just bingewatched all of your videos! 😅 what a little place of heaven on earth you are creating over there! And… if i ever need a export in weed removal i know who to contact! 😁
Wie man sich doch über fliesendes Wasser freuen kann. Früher war es einfach nur normal das Wasser einfach so aus dem Hahn kommt, bei solchen Projekten ist es am Ende der vielen Arbeit ein Highlight Glückwunsch
How amazing!!! I would (along with most women) absolutely HATE doing that kind of work, the dirt and having to understand how plumbing works, just NO THANKS. So your willingness to do this kind of work is incredible!
Found your channel yesterday and ended up watching about 5 videos in a row! Way passed bed time 🤪😊. Thank you so much for sharing. It is a dream of mine and my partner, to do something similar. I actually live in a somewhat similar place to yours, but it's rented. Although we have the permission to do whatever while we're here, it's not quite the same as knowing you'll get to watch it all evolve and making it aligned with yourself! We've actually been hearing a lot about central Portugal recently, yours was one of them. Seems like a great place to live! We're going to check the area out and Gerês National Park to reflect on our options (we're currently in the Algarve). Much to look forward to! Beautiful colours you chose and love your smile, it's contagious! Best of luck and it will be a joy to continue watching your evolution. All the best! Cristina R.
Use a submersible pump as it will save you from a world of pain. It will cancel the need to prime (fill up the pipes with water in order to make the normal/"green" pump to work.
My dear girl, you and Paul are so amazing. I’m so proud of you. Blessing in your future efforts but I have no doubts you will succeed in whatever you do. You both are in my prayers!!💋💋🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
That's awesome Maya, I'm so happy for you! Can't wait to see all the other improvements you make there, and it's really nice as a woman to learn from another woman some of these skills.
Maya, please buy a 'sledge hammer' and knock those posts with the taps in firmly; a claw hammer simply hasn't got the weight and secondly apart from removing those large rocks your water pipes will never have enough pressure from above to pierce your hose pipes. But a good idea to use sand where there is a vehicle crossing. Your hardworking is paying off and nice to see people helping out.
What a great progress, you now have electricity, water, internet and great helpers. What do you do in your social life, how do you find friends, do you visit coffee shops or how do you go about? how far away are your neighbors away from you? Construction materials cost a lot of money, do you work online to earn your income?
I like your plan/planning, I like your enthousiasm and I like the videos! Keep on rolling! As for constructive criticism, your smiling while talking can be a little more natural. When you finished something or found out about something, that 10/10 max smile is good. When you are talking about more common stuff, reduce the smile to like 7/10 so it looks more natural and not a production from the UA-cam corp. Just a tip..
Maya I love watching your progress. It's amazing all you have learned and how far you have progressed. Proud of you. Obrigado thanx for sharing. Gina in Upstate NY USA moving to Portugal....cheers Try and explain how the simplest of things are so amazing like water flowing from the tap. OMG so amazing you will have running water....Woooooo Whooooooo
Ii just found your channel tonight now iam binge watching, what a great project you have undertaken but you are a amazing person. I only wish I could come and help you. Good luck going forward.
Wow all 3 of you have done an amazing job, your water system is working, it will be a massive game changer for you on your land, you can now grow a vegetable garden & many more fruits, I am so happy for you, take care, look forward to more videos soon 🥰🥰🥰
This was so far the most exciting project on the land. I see lots of handy tips in the comments too for water storage etc. It must feel so good to finally have water on tap. It made me think of that lovely song, Agua de Beber by Astrud Gilberto. A perfect song for a perfect beginning.
Congrats for the installation of your water system!!! Very important proyect! Hope you remember where it is when you plant new trees or when you dig a hole!!!!
Hiya Maya , and friends well done to you all you e worked so hard and it now looks great and will make life so so much better for you .Once again well done .👍👍
Myer just a suggestion when you go to buy another shovel buy a long handle one much easier on your and anyone else’s backs the short ones are really only useful in a garden not all the work you are trying to do plus you are tall long handle tools much better for your back love
Good to see that you have water, have you considered using a ram pump from the river to maybe a water reservoir/ out door pool to cool off, with the volume of water flowing through your property, or is there a limit on water removal from the river?? Take care and I’m looking forward to seeing your next posts
I agree that she should build a ram pump in the river. This is a great way to add extra water storage in the event of a drought. Also catching rainwater off of the roofs.

How wonderful....water....kkkk....we learn to value it so much more when camping ⛺️...as a scout water was the first to work which when we were setting our campground....and loved your counting in Portuguese ...very good pronunciation 😊and very cool having so many and everywhere....a must...a very wonderful many🎉
It is just amazing the work you have done and how far the land has come. I think I found you on the first video and its been an amazing adventure. I look forward to when you post the next part of this grand adventure
Thank you so much for your ideas and encouragement! I will read through all of them.
Have a great day, much love from Portugal ☀

Where is this place in Portugal ? ?
Sweetheart, Gramps here, I think you're absolutely beautiful, and youdid a marvelous job, and I'm so proud of you!...
All my love, Gramps 🫠🥰💖😁👍
I suggest buying some merging tape and bury 1 ft above the piping and conduit in case someone is digging and hasn’t seen the map.
don't forget to create and update a map of all your underground infrastructure- for repairs and digging around the place.... maybe install a water holding tank in the event you loose power or low flow in the creek.
Yes, a few IBC tanks will help you keep water on the land. Maybe one on each terrace would be good. I didn’t quite understand why the water in the river isn’t drinkable.
When you store water, you have to care about the quality of it with bacteria 🦠 and so on…
So don’t know if it worth the offer…
@@edvardfranke many many homes in arid areas use water tanks there are many homes I know of that only have water in tanks as they have to go get it and truck it in.
Just to pitch in on the importance of mapping where the pipes are. Speaking from experience. Very expensive to neglect.
@@cleigh113 ok how is they manage the water quality?
Always test the system before you close the trench 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
After the big flooding last winter the pump may need watching in heavy rain events.

Thank you for that info!!
You are the most capable and hard working young woman! How exciting to not have to have your buckets of water anymore 🥳
I come home from work today all grumpy , I watch the new video and I’m smiling again , brilliant…
Exactly! 😊👍✨
