There are some eater eggs in this episode that book readers like me freaked out over. The story got updated to fit the TV format (and the short runtime) so the writers made some changes (big and small). For example, Gabe playing online poker when in the book he plays table poker with some friends. As someone who's already watched the full length, I can say that your reactions are awesome and as a book reader and big fan of the Percy Jackson universe, I am so happy you are loving this show. PS: It's painful to wait for an episode each week but it's totally worth it 💙
The author of the books wrote it for his son who has ADHD and it was a bedtime story for him. The TV show is following the books and because it was made for kids, there is a sort of childish aspect to it while also being somewhat serious. The author also worked on the TV show. Rick did not work on the movie.
One important thing to remember is that the books, especially the first book, was for Middle Schoolers. So, sometimes the weird stuff, like a minotaur in underwear, is really just meant to be for the kids lol
To comment on Oak saying that the step-dad isn't really that unlikable: in the books he is way worse with it being implied (young readers may not pick up on it) that he abuses Percy's mum both physically and mentally. This was not included in the show bc it is for a young audience and they don't wish to a) show that on screen and b) imply it is worth staying with your abuser for your child's sake. Also in the book he plays actual poker but I find online poker to be a hilarious modern take on it.
i think the show does a good job too of showing that not all abuse is obvious. sure the guy is a goon but we also learn that he still has control over sally he's answering her phone, she has to get his permission to leave with her son and take his car, she has to placate him like a child so he doesn't blow up. we meet them well into their relationship so we're seeing sally know how to talk to him without triggering an outburst but the threat is always there. not all abuse is hitting, sometimes it's a slow breakdown over time.
I actually think them not making Gabe such a dick is really good bc ofc I was also confused but you should NEVER stay with an abusive partner for your child. That is insanely traumatizing. I mean duh, Sally and Gabe still don't get along at all in the series but he's not abusive. It's just a bad relationship.
Ohhhhh myyyyy gooood, this is my favorite book series ever, and the movies were such a disgrace to the books, whereas the show has been so well done and true to the novels so far. I'm so excited for this
@@NK-dt1kp my main gripe is how the movie had everyone looking like they were 17 or 18 years old, they were supposed to still be children at that point.
@@NK-dt1kpyeah, the series may be more accurate but the pacing felt very off and it often felt flat to me. I feel like the vibes I was expecting weren’t there. I think if the show was longer it couldn’t been better and did more showing and not telling
The author himself rick riordan was/is involved in this series and said himself that the movies were awful 😂 second season is already announced. The series is closer to the books with some small changes but i will not spoil. Enjoy the ride ❤❤❤
It's so interesting to see reactions from people who know absolutely nothing about the books, or even the film adaptation. As a fan of this book series for over 10 years, what I love the most is that this show was able to capture the essence and personality of the (main) characters. There were a few scenes in the other episodes that felt a little lacking in terms of pacing, but overall I think it was a great show! And I may not agree with some changes, but I understand that they cannot be fully faithful to the books due to multiple reasons. Anyway, hope you all enjoy it!
Percy Jackson was the book series for those of us growing up who weren't really big fans of Harry Potter. I was lucky enough to be out shopping with my mother two days after The Lightning Thief was published, and it was one of the first books I ever read in one sitting. I'll always be a hard-core Percy Jackson/Gregor the Overlander kid until the day I die! Those are the two series I reread religiously each year. Honorable mention to Artemis Fowl, as well, although that series is a bit more niche.
No, youre fine, the movies sucked ass and completely disregarded the books, at least this show is faithful to the books Something to keep in mind if encounters or scenes feel odd, due to time constraints, a lot of fights and encounters are seriously underplayed and cut short from book to show, and a lot of stuff is just exposited instead of revealed organically like in the book. The writers actually apologized because of the exposition dumping. That's not to say the show is bad, I really enjoyed it and it's very faithful, Disney just needs to get the huevos to actually make hour long episodes, or at least 45 minute episodes for their shows, like Netflix is apparently doing for Avatar, so the show isn't just expositing everything that's supposed to happen or cutting them short, because future seasons would seriously suffer if they keep that up.
I was immediately suspicious when I saw the episode length. Imo the only shows that can handle 30 min episodes are episodic comedies like the Office, Parks & Rec etc. It doesn't tend to be enough for sci fi, fantasy, action or any other genre, just not enough time to develop and resolve a storyline. I think this episode was pretty good with things shown, and it ended on a right note with Percy being welcomed into the camp. It could have maybe used additional 5 mins for additional backstory, but I honestly don't mind any exclusions much. Episode 2 NEEDED to be an hour - I still liked it a lot, but the world building suffered because it just went from scene to scene with no room to breathe. The rest of the episodes should have been 45 mins - there would have been more time for showing not telling, developing characters and setting background for the future. It would have made so much more sense with the plot. The second to last episode was most disappointing to me because of this - at that point, there was still so much to tell that they've skipped over but only a limited time to tell it, and it ended up with the episode being just not that great tbh (except for one scene which was one of my favourites in the whole show - and funny enough, it was 1. an addition that wasn't in the book and 2. a GREAT example of show don't tell, so much subtext).
I actually dropped the show because of this. Now just surfing through reaction videos because they're a more bearable watch. Will try getting back to the actual show if they reformat their future episodes
@@Pee5Ma This show is strange in the fact its both very faithful and incredibly detailed, while also missing on important things. Setting a bunch of stuff up for the future seasons, while also being full of exposition dumping and cutting encounters short. But the writers did say they're taking audience and critic response and feedback into account for future seasons, which is good. I just hope the episode length increases, because that's really the big issue. The writing is good and the acting is good, but they were forced to shove exposition in because they lacked necessary time to show, not tell
@@typo1345 the problem is child labor laws, since the actors are children they really don't get a lot of time to act and stuff cuz they got other priorities, and while i agree longer episodes would make the show better and what not it might not be as possible because of the time constraints they have to deal with due to child labor laws.
so happy you guys are reacting to this!! i recommend reading the books, they're really great and percy as the narrator is so funny 😭 would make a great bonding time wt kids too if u guys have them and they like reading hhh
My kids really like the books so I'm excited to see what the excitement was all about! So far so good.... Looking forward to the next episode! You guys are a lot of fun to watch shows with...😊❤
Yesss I'm so glad you guys are reacting to this! I'm a book fan but it's so fun seeing people go into the series blind and try to figure out things as they unfold. Glad you're enjoying it 😄
WHAT A PLEASANT SURPRISE TO SEE YOU GUYS REACTING ❤ This is my favorite book series ever, I had the age of the characters when I started reading it (12), and here we are 14 years later with a worthy adaptation. I'm here for your ride.
The underwear on the Minotaur is one of many things honoring the tongue-in-cheek writing of Rick Riordan's books! Also the original movies are iconic - as book adaptions they are horrendous BUT as individual movies they're pretty decent, there are things they do in the movies that I almost liked better than what they do in the show. THAT is why people are so split about the films.
I missed out on these books growing up, after the premiere I started reading I’ve currently finished the OG 5 PJO books, the HOO books, and on book two of trials of Apollo, it’s an amazing series/universe
Since you guys loved Percy’s stepdad, I hope you guys react to Ted on Peacock. The father on there played by Scott Grimes is just as awesome if not better!
Definitely a book series worthy of being read by Appleton Oak if he loved Harry Potter! Yeah, the writing is geared more to a middle school aged audience however the sarcasm and sass within these books is amazing!!! This series really has done justice in redemption to the horrendous movies. Here is to season 2!
Im a huge fan of Rick Riordan I’ve read all of the series his written. The olympians, heroes of Olympus, Kane chronicles Magnus chase, trials of Apollo, other spin offs and new series. He is amazing. I have to say some of the endings are not as strong as the Percy Jackson series. But character depth and plots are amazing.
At 22:07 they talk a bit about Gabe but he’s pretty different from the books because in the books he really is that bad guy that treats Sally wrong and I feel like they watered it down in the series. They even give him the nickname ‘Smelly Gabe’ because he just smells really bad. In the books you really wonder why Sally stays with him at all but it has an explanation later on in the books.
Have to say it’s an amazing series! So excited and happy to see you guys react to it. ❤ The books are incredible, and a whole lot deeper and slightly more adult than this series (e.g. Gabe is very nasty towards Percy in the books in comparison to this series) but all in all it gives such a good delve into this world. Up there with Harry Potter for me Love you guys ❤
Guys i will continue recommending you „The Terror“ with Jared Harris because it is the best freaking Mini series i habe ever seen next to Band of Brothers!
I would suggest not watching the second movie yet because it has spoilers for the entire series. This is also a season that’s better binged imo. I do think the later seasons are going to be better for a weekly schedule because most people watching will be familiar with all the lore by then but the first season has to introduce so much that it’s easy to forget in between episodes (a lot of the criticisms come from people not rewatching the previous episodes and seeing how all the themes connect lol).
the only thing i really REALLY dont like is how they handled gabe, aka stepfather of percy. you guys dont know any better and like your reaction was pretty valid because of how they portrayed him in the show. But in the books he is vile. The entire apartment is littered, he verbally abuses percy AND his mom, he stinks he's disgusting and in the end you find out he also physically abuses Sally. Idk it just feels weird that they toned it down so much cause it actually has a meaning and I also cant understand why they would do it too. Percy and Sally overcome it together and get to "defeat" Gabe. Which was so good to read, I cheered and actually cried for them in the end. We also find out the only reason she is staying with Gabe is to protect percy from monsters, making it a huge sacrifice on her part. anyways good reaction as always🙏
Yesss! Was waiting for this reaction, from someone that has waited almost 2 decades for a faithful adaption after the heartbreak of the failed movies which should have been at par with the Harry Potter franchise since the 1st movie was directed by Chris Columbus who also directed the 1st and 2nd harry potter films. Side note: (the books are that good! Im a complete Potter head but these actually surpasses the harry potter universe tbh) so exited for you guys to see the rest of the series. The opening lines are word to word by the book. I was emotional the whole season because it felt like reading the book for the 1st time again. They also just announced it has been renewed for the 2 season so your in for the long run! 🥹 hopefully it brings you as much joy as it did to us.
Nice reaction guys! I believe you've already seen 2 or 3 episodes already, there's previews of the next episode at the end of them, but I'd actually reocmmend not watching those because (at least in my mind) it just spoils what you're about to see pretty big
"maybe they could have made it a little bit darker" Yeah this show was like allergic to lighting anything on set for some reason. This series may be the most aggressively fine fantasy show I've seen in ages. Never read the books so I can't really compare, but the show was alright aside from a couple.. very odd.. choices. All in all it just wasn't especially memorable.
Rick Riordan (the author) has a neurodivergent son and started writing the Percy Jackson series for him, that's why all demigods are dyslexic and have adhd (also most of the fandom)
There is that ONE example of dyslexia and one throw-away line about, "some kids have weird dreams, dyslexia, ADHD" and that is the ONLY mention. None of it is explained. It's basically disability erasure and I'm still mad about it.
@@GLaurence1997 Probably not most given how successful the books are, but it isn't an insignificant portion. Percy is the only protagonist I can think of in MR/YA who is actually disabled. So it obviously drew a lot of kids who *are* dyslexic/ADHD.
@@FrenchSwissBorder there are few others in MG/YA who are neurodivergent in some way but I only know of the characters of Elle McNicoll's books - she is neurodivergent herself so it's got more of an impact for me who is autistic and dyspraxic myself. If you're interested her books are: A Kind of Spark (also now a BBC TV adaptation with Ell as a producer), Like a Charm and Like a Curse (its sequel), Shows Us Who You Are and I believe Keedie, her most recent book set before the events of A Kind of Spark is out in early April :).
yeah, demigods have dyslexia and adhd since their brains are wired differently from humans! gives them the ability to read ancient greek and have heightened senses n more. rick riordan actually wrote this in since his son has them too :)
For me, the movies are fine on their own if you haven't read the books yet. I, myself, discovered and liked the movies first and thought they were great until I read the books. After that, I became a hater of the movie, lol. But still, if it wasn't because of the movies, I wouldn't discover such wonderful masterpiece by Sir Rick Riordan. Thank you for another great reaction, btw! ❤
😂 same thing happens to me. I started reading the books for the first movie. I love the series so much after I rewatch the movies again I hated them😅 It’s fine I still got hooked into a whole world of gods and other amazing book he wrote and even the ones he help published for other authors
The whole fandom came from the movies and that's exactly why I think it does not deserve the hate. Like, it was fun enough to make everyone wanna read the books... (talking about the 1st movie, the 2nd doesn't deserve any love😅)
same. I only read the books cause i saw the medusa scene on the 1st movie but then i was like what the hell they did with the movies after reading the books
@@marcelofrias1631 similar thing here! I read the books because I was soo confused with the whole plot in the movie being around the pearls (like that doesn't make any sense - why would they focus on only that when they're supposed to find the thief lol) so when I finally understand the original plot from the books I was more satisfied haha. nevertheless, agree with OP too how the movie by itself is ok and fun (and even in my personal (unpopular) opinion, captures the vibes of the book better than the series)
Spot on with Sally (The mom) crying in the car The whole reason they went to the cabin was cause its close to the camp, Grover knew something was wrong, so he and the teacher (Mr. Brunner) relayed the message to Sally, telling her it was gonna be time for Percy to go to camp, it wasnt safe anymore to be in public, Sally agreed, but it still hurt her emotionally to do so. Enjoy episode 2, its one of the best ones for me
As someone who grew up reading the books and was so disappointed by the movies. I'm so happy to see you guys doing a reaction to this. The series did the books justice And just a fun fact, the teacher sitting to the right of the principal when percy is getting expelled is Rick riordin ( the writer of the books and the producer of the show)
The show is far from perfect, but despite my issues with it I had a good time watching it and it definitely respects the book more than the movies! I hope you'll have fun!
That's how I feel too. I strongly dislike some of the changes because they just seem unnecessary but it's about a million times better than the movie (never watched the second cause they messed up so badly with the first)
@@jordanNCMgood don’t, I have 0 knowledge of the books or characters but the first 10 mins of the second movie seems like it rewrites the first movie lol, it makes no sense and they introduce stuff so late.
@@toddmaliepaard9777I'm coming back to this a month late because at first I whole heartedly agreed with this. I was there for most of the Riordanverse book releases and have read everything at least 3 times. So this change really put me off. But with this reaction I started to actually enjoy it. I mean think about it. The problem is not that Gabe was abusive af, ofc you can show that on screen. However, just showing off that you should stay with an abusive (verbal AND PHYSICAL!!!!) just for your child? That's absolutely not something you should do. Unfortunately there's already too many women who stay with abusive partners bc they feel as though they should keep it together (exactly my mother as well) but it's really traumatizing for the child. That's something Rick most likely realized in the 30 years since the book has been released. Sally is such a strong woman, her staying with an annoying incel who she actually puts in his place is much better fitting as they still shout at each other a lot and thus still don't create a healthy environment for Percy.
Let me tell you, my teenagers are hyped over this series. And they have bonded so much over it despite their age gap. It’s huge with both their junior high and high school peers, which is amazing.
@@drewmcgary2872 The third episode is where it starts to get good imo 😅 the show def has some criticisms from me but I loved it and the finale was perfect
@@drewmcgary2872I binged the first 3 episodes last night after finishing the first movie and quitting the second movie 10 mins in lol, I like the first movie, the show obviously builds the world better tho. The show also feels slow paced but fast paced at the same time it’s so confusing lol but I like it so far.
I loved the books growing up. The show leans a lot more into the absurdity of greek mythology and the humour. My hope is that as the series goes on Percy becomes more sarcastic and off the walls crazy like he is in the books. Right now his character is a lot more timid and uncertain...i saw a comparison somewhere: harry potter was a kids book for millennials and Percy Jack reflected the attiudes of Gen Z. I thought that was a pretty good summary of how they treat these different magical worlds
The writer of these books worked closely with Disney to make this tv show happen and the end result is stunning, I hope they keep respecting his suggestions. Also, loved the talk all the way to the end "didn't you pay attention in school?" "well, I didn't vaporized my teacher" ahahahhaha loved it. Can't wait for ep 2
lmao no it didn't. Where's Grover's disability? Where's the Mist? Why's Gabe completely different from the book (he's supposed to be trash and stink like garbage)? Why's Medusa depicted like a victim? Why's Annabeth so annoying? This show is the worst
@@MarcusKrank Medusa is a victim, reread the actual mythology XD. Anabeth was always annoying. Oh no grover doesn't have crutches lmfao. Let me guess Percy not having black hair is a negative for ya too?
Mr. Kane that Grover mentions in front of the fountain is a person from Rick Riordan’s other book series (in total he has 5 series of books with 3 different gods (Greeks, Roman and Nordic)) so it’s a way to tell about his own multiverse
OMG I CANT BELIEVE YOU GUYS ARE REACTING TO THIS IM SO EXCITED. I love this series I read it when I got out of high school loved it just as much as Harry Potter. Lots of people compare the 2 just bcuz the description of the characters are similar. And I’m rereading them again bcuz of the show and it’s official they’re making a Second Season. I love this book series so so so much. It made me fall in love with Greek/Roman Mythology even more! 🩵💙🩵💙🩵
Yes yes yes!! I’m so happy to see y’all reacting to this!! Pjo is my childhood! It’s favorite book series ever! And this tv show is doing an incredible job!
So excited for this one!! I grew up with this series in a similar way to Harry Potter, and it’s so awesome to finally see it accurately represented on screen. The writing is a bit clunky so far, but I’m excited for the future seasons. Also, the movies are a guilty pleasure of mine lol. The first one especially is a fun ride. You could watch it after this so you can see what everyone was so mad about
I'm so glad you guys are embarking in the Percy Jackson journey/fandom. Having you guys watch Harry Potter and now this is truly great and bringing so many childhood memories.
"I'm gonna stop at D'Angelo's and pick up some sandwiches" The whiplash i felt when hearing that was insane, especially because it sounds like "D'Angelo's" is a FAST FOOD JOINT. Which is quite a reference to a joke from later in the series. I laughed so hard 🤣
The „You fell in love with God? Like Jesus?“ may not be a line from the book but it might as well be, it perfectly encapsulates Percy’s character and sass The books are still my favourite book series even as an adult and as someone with adhd the pacing literally is perfect, but I guess it can feel different to ppl that don’t have adhd
Clicked on this as soon as I saw it! I love this series an I'm so happy that the books got an adaptation that was much more faithful then the movies. These books played a huge part in me coming to terms with my ADHD diagnosis when I was younger and this TV series was probably the most hyped I had ever been for a TV show/movie to be released!
I will be the minority here, but while I did like the show, I didn't LOVE it. The best thing is definitely the cast, they did a brilliant job, especially with the main trio. However, I think the writing was quite mediocre given how good the source material is. My main issue was that while the books and fun and vibrant, a lot of the show felt.. flat? It didn't really feel like a complete world to me, some characters were underwritten, the writers told instead of shown A LOT, and there were instances when a line or two was so bad it took me out of the story for a bit. The movies are a travesty, but somehow they felt more fun? The good thing, however, is that the producers seem open to feedback given some interactions I've seen them have with fans. I will hold my breath until Season 2 comes - I truly hope they fix some of their issues and can make the show as brilliant as it deserves to be.
Considering I've read the books and none of you guys have, I will say this show is EVERYTHING all of us wanted from the start!!!!! It's literally the books, even though they changed minor things from the books, it doesn't bother me at all because they got the essence of Percy Jackson correct... That's the only thing I care about, it doesn't have to be a line-by-line translation to the big screen for me to love it!!! LOTS of fans were and still are very judgmental because both Grover and Annabeth are people of color when they weren't in the books.... buuuttt some of us and I went into this show with an open heart and mind because no one knew how they would all measure up the book characters and for all of us we love these actors because they ARE our characters we all LOVE!!!! And the movies are all terrible and I wouldn't recommend watching them!!!!! I'm glad you guys liked the show, too, and are having fun watching it!!!! Please watch the whole season and in case no one else mentioned this there are 8 episodes in total.
You guys are going to have a blast with this series. The books came out around the same time as Harry Potter and did really well in America. Unfortunately when it came time to adapt it, it didn't get the Harry Potter treatement. The movies are about as divisive as the AtLA movie that is to say, not at all. Good catch on the dyslexia! I'll be interested to see your theories/thoughts going foreward, this is definitely a series that gives you enough to leave you guessing.😊
8:22 The way they handled Gabe’s character was one of the only critique points I have with the show because in the book he’s actually a really scary, abusive alcoholic and really hate how they downplayed that here. It also takes away reason from something that’s going to happen later on but yeah idk, I trust Rick but turning him into a joke character really wasn’t the move:/
I love how perceptive you guys are when watching. i really hope you enjoy the show. its not perfect but im hoping for me so they can only do better with the later seasons.
One thing to keep in mind is that the books are told from the perspective of a kid with ADHD and Dyslexia, so the pacing often is "rushed" but as someone with ADHD it just feels like its going the speed my brain works at. Even when I think about how Percy is recounting the events I deeply relate because I find it hard to remember all the details of my past but big events come very clearly to me. Rick really chose to still have the series be from Percy's POV, and it's very accurate to the neurodivergent experience
I am a MASSIVE fan of Percy Jackson and while I did enjoy the series, it was very underwhelming but has potential. It is held back heavily by the writers but they have acknowledged the grievances from fans should put put some better and stronger content for season 2.
It was honestly refreshing to see you guys react to this. Made me appreciate some choices I didn’t like upon first watch as an avid fan of the books-like the changes they made with Gabe, for one. Thank you for making me love this more. I can’t wait to see you guys react to the rest! 🎉
Haven't watched your reaction video yet, but I know you guys are gonna love this series! Love Greek mythology since my 5th thru 7th grade teacher, Mrs. Sakiotis (RIP) brought it to the classroom. Have a great day!
Will be fun to see you guys react to the movies after this series to compare! I personally didn't mind them but will be curious to know what your thoughts are! 🙂👍
Omg yes!! Didn’t expect you to react to Percy, but hoped it all the way!! In my opinion this series has his flaws, but at the same time its so much closer to the books than the movies were. And it‘s a fun ride! I hope you enjoy it :)

In the scene in the principals office the other man in the room (on the left) is Rick Riordan the author of the Percy Jackson books
No, youre fine, the movies sucked ass and completely disregarded the books, at least this show is faithful to the books
Something to keep in mind if encounters or scenes feel odd, due to time constraints, a lot of fights and encounters are seriously underplayed and cut short from book to show, and a lot of stuff is just exposited instead of revealed organically like in the book.
Episode 2 being so short is genuinely the biggest mistake the show made. It causes problems for the entire rest of it.
As someone who loved all of the books and absolutely hated the movies. I loved this show.
Im so excited you guys have picked this up!!! Will rewatch with you guys!
Oh! I'm so happy you guys are reacting to Percy Jackson.
I missed out on these books growing up, after the premiere I started reading I’ve currently finished the OG 5 PJO books, the HOO books, and on book two of trials of Apollo, it’s an amazing series/universe
I could have sworrrrrn you guys have watched the Percy Jackson movie 😂 I was so confused why you guys were so confused 😂😂
Yes! I’ve been waiting for this!!
so excited to see you guys react to this!
Off topic comment. I was over the moon when Mason and The Answer referenced the sword of omens and Thundercats!
In the books you really wonder why Sally stays with him at all but it has an explanation later on in the books.
i have been waiting for this 😭
Books are amazing
Have to say it’s an amazing series! So excited and happy to see you guys react to it. ❤
The books are incredible, and a whole lot deeper and slightly more adult than this series (e.g. Gabe is very nasty towards Percy in the books in comparison to this series) but all in all it gives such a good delve into this world.
Up there with Harry Potter for me
Love you guys ❤
would love if yall did a reaction to the book series
Y'all should definitely check out the movies too
It was terrible. All the events were accurate but the pacing and the acting were horrendous.
You should react to the movie: Percy Jackson and the lightning thief
The books ❤ >> this series >>>>>>> that movie 😩
Nice reaction guys! I believe you've already seen 2 or 3 episodes already, there's previews of the next episode at the end of them, but I'd actually reocmmend not watching those because (at least in my mind) it just spoils what you're about to see pretty big
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa oh my goooood! yessss!!
Love the books read them all
"maybe they could have made it a little bit darker"
Yeah this show was like allergic to lighting anything on set for some reason.
Definitely not "most of the fandom" unless you count people self diagnosing themselves
Its explained a lot in the books@@FrenchSwissBorder
them laughing when mason said its dyslexia... when it is in fact to show dyxlexia LMAO
"NAHH I think it's the powers" why would they do it😂😂
yeah, demigods have dyslexia and adhd since their brains are wired differently from humans! gives them the ability to read ancient greek and have heightened senses n more. rick riordan actually wrote this in since his son has them too :)
I love the books. Rick Riordan is an awesome author.
What do you mean? There are no Percy Jackson movies, this is the only adaptation we have
Agree whole heartedly
there are no movies in ba sing se
Yes, they don’t exist
Only Peter Johnson movies
@@h.g57 😂
Holy shit I am so excited for you to watch this series. Grew up on it and absolutely love it.
I love the series so much after I rewatch the movies again I hated them😅
It’s fine I still got hooked into a whole world of gods and other amazing book he wrote and even the ones he help published for other authors
Same.
Spot on with Sally (The mom) crying in the car
The whole reason they went to the cabin was cause its close to the camp, Grover knew something was wrong, so he and the teacher (Mr. Brunner) relayed the message to Sally, telling her it was gonna be time for Percy to go to camp, it wasnt safe anymore to be in public, Sally agreed, but it still hurt her emotionally to do so.
Enjoy episode 2, its one of the best ones for me
First Percy Jackson next up Avatar the Last Airbender 🙌🏽 what a week!
Answer was right! Percy's dyslexic, that's why the letters were jumping
I always love when all four of you do a reaction together
As someone who grew up reading the books and was so disappointed by the movies. I'm so happy to see you guys doing a reaction to this. The series did the books justice
And just a fun fact, the teacher sitting to the right of the principal when percy is getting expelled is Rick riordin ( the writer of the books and the producer of the show)
the show was horrible both from a tv show perspective and from a book adaptation perspective
I wish they never made the show. It's so bad.
The show is far from perfect, but despite my issues with it I had a good time watching it and it definitely respects the book more than the movies! I hope you'll have fun!
That's how I feel too. I strongly dislike some of the changes because they just seem unnecessary but it's about a million times better than the movie (never watched the second cause they messed up so badly with the first)
I agree with you! With the show I definitely have criticism but I criticize it from a place of love not hatred lol!!
Well it helps that the author of the books has a lot of input in the series
@@jordanNCMgood don’t, I have 0 knowledge of the books or characters but the first 10 mins of the second movie seems like it rewrites the first movie lol, it makes no sense and they introduce stuff so late.
It's a solid series, could have done some things better, but im expecting more build-up and action in the second series
They also watered down Gabe a lot from the books. He was crazily more abusive, and they were worried about triggering people putting it on screen.
@@toddmaliepaard9777 they could’ve easily done him like the family in Harry Potter. In the show he’s barely even unlikable, he’s even a bit funny.
I'm glad that there are people that enjoy it. I couldn't make it past the third episode it was so bad.
@@drewmcgary2872 they were so disappointed with the movie, they said this was amazing by comparison and more accurate to the books.
I am obsessed with this channel! Lol i love yall reactions 😂😂
🤜🤛
Huge book nerd here. This show has definitely 👌 respected the books. The child actors are amazing.
no it didnt reread the book
lmao no it didn't.
@@FateXO I have, right after the season finished. Maybe you should try rereading it?
@@PacificEgg then you didnt comprehend what you read because aside from the show hitting bullet points it was completely different from the book lol
So glad y’all are reacting to this series I love it sooo much walker scobell is such a good Percy!
Yessssssss, I was waiting for this ❤
Medusa wasn't actually a monster. Athena gave her her powers after Poseidon took advantage of Medusa, so she could protect herself.
So happy to see Percy Jackson getting more and more recognized. Great book series and great show!
"I'm gonna stop at D'Angelo's and pick up some sandwiches"
The whiplash i felt when hearing that was insane, especially because it sounds like "D'Angelo's" is a FAST FOOD JOINT. Which is quite a reference to a joke from later in the series. I laughed so hard 🤣
The „You fell in love with God? Like Jesus?“ may not be a line from the book but it might as well be, it perfectly encapsulates Percy’s character and sass
The books are still my favourite book series even as an adult and as someone with adhd the pacing literally is perfect, but I guess it can feel different to ppl that don’t have adhd
Clicked on this as soon as I saw it! I love this series an I'm so happy that the books got an adaptation that was much more faithful then the movies. These books played a huge part in me coming to terms with my ADHD diagnosis when I was younger and this TV series was probably the most hyped I had ever been for a TV show/movie to be released!
fun fact: rick riordan, the author of the books, likes to pretend the movies don't exist 😊
The show makes the movies look good
LETS GOOOO PERCY MY MENACE 12YO BOY. Yall are gonna love this omg
I will hold my breath until Season 2 comes - I truly hope they fix some of their issues and can make the show as brilliant as it deserves to be.
only valid opinion
After S1 I'd say watch first movie just to laugh at how terrible it is. But don't watch 2nd movie til after S2
Mrs. Dodds is/was Alecta, the leader of the Furies and cohort of Hades...in the Greek mythologies. 😊
So glad you are reacting to this series.
DO NOT watch the movies. I was so freaking mad. It’s not even the same story. They are horrible.
I am a MASSIVE fan of Percy Jackson and while I did enjoy the series, it was very underwhelming but has potential. It is held back heavily by the writers but they have acknowledged the grievances from fans should put put some better and stronger content for season 2.
Movie percy Jackson ❤
OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG YES YES YES YES YES
"Somebody better call the doctor."
BECAUSE BADD MEDICINE IS BACK! 👀
Have a great day!
smelly gabe in the books was fcking awful, they made him toned down for disney in the show
Will be fun to see you guys react to the movies after this series to compare! I personally didn't mind them but will be curious to know what your thoughts are! 🙂👍
OMG, now that Mason mentioned Gabe acting like Carl, I cannot unsee it, and I am OK with that crossover!
Which movies? They dont exist for us. 😂
really excited for you guys to check it out
Omg yes!! Didn’t expect you to react to Percy, but hoped it all the way!! In my opinion this series has his flaws, but at the same time its so much closer to the books than the movies were. And it‘s a fun ride! I hope you enjoy it :)
