    Fasting has been a big key in my health transformation. Haven't been sick in YEARS and I'm now in my mid 50s. I like to stop eating, and drinking, about 4 hours before I go to bed. Not drinking any liquids was a big game changer. Was thinking that I needed to drink a lot of water but drinking too much caused me to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Thanks to Dr Berg, now I'm getting better sleep.

    I actually did most of these low key and didn’t realized she is so right...a lot of people really say I look so young for my age and I actually feel it too. Mindset is so important. The past should stay in the past if it’s dragging you to stay down, it’ll become your future unfortunately. Avocado toast delicious with turmeric, salt and pepper. I only use Korean and Japanese beauty products and wear less makeup non- high end only. How come no one talks about Mac and how they are over high priced products may cause cancer. It says on the label and people still put it on proudly.

    I totally agree with her about the exercise being sort of fake. I've always felt that way. The way I can tell is by how I feel. I feel like it sucks my soul to exercise at the gym or on machines anywhere; while on the other hand, when I am doing something natural, like playing in a physical way, running around with friends during a game of tag or swimming in the ocean, it feels wonderful! It feels good because it feels REAL to me. I'm moving the way my body was designed to move, rather than on a machine that only engages certain muscles in a mechanical way.

    She is correct on exercise being a man made activity. In the past, our fitness came from walking, running, crawling, foraging, fighting, lifting/moving things that get in our way. The modern world has given us many comforts and I am greatful for many of them. But, the same world took away the need to express our strength and movement. The gym is a necessity for many, but the outside world is good enough for the majority

    Naomi Whittel is definitely a pleasant presence and Tom is a great host, as always, but I've noticed few interesting things: 1.that she does not know some answers and Tom is kindly helping about that, 2.that she speaks about living natural, using facial masks all the time and even selling her own lines of skin products, but in the same time she seems loaded with botox to say the least (she has very limited facial expression - glabella is just an example). Also, 3.that she promotes some hyaluronic acid facial cream, while it is a fact that HA molecule is too large to be effectively absorbed into the skin and 4.that she does not believe physical exercise is natural, but she is planning to sell a program that involves some sort of PE. So, she gives mixed advice - some useful and true, but some just plain bs meant for boosting sales of some products. For me, this means that her purpose is not speaking the truth, as she does not really do what she preaches. So, enjoy the video, but follow with prudence.

    • @ooOnymphetOoo
      @ooOnymphetOoo 3 роки тому +29

      I agree 100% with this observational comment. Yet on the botox or any other filler, she didn't preach, that should not be used. She promotes natural, but naturalism and purity in skincare and diet can really take one so far. The body can be tightened up and supplemented by muscular toning much easily, but the facial fat is lost and muscles weaken and separate which I call the facial tectonics. That really can't be helped so much externally or internally unless one goes under the skin.
      I was very bothered that she called exercise programs superficial yet she goes on to practice weight-lifting for her new book cover. Why can't she look like her normal self if she didn't believe in pseudo-exercise programs which became essential for people who don't work utilizing physical exertion anymore?

    Tom, what she was saying about stress kicking you out of ketosis is very true. It's based on the fact that stress causes a secretion of cortisol and epinephrine/adrenaline which makes your body produce glucose which then makes your insulin go up. Of course, insulin stops ketosis in it's tracks. I know this from my own experience. I've suffered from anxiety/panic attacks and measured my glucose and ketones before during and after those episodes and watched my glucose go from 85 to 105 in a matter of a minute and my ketones drop down to nothing. Otherwise, I normally am in a constant state of about 1-3 level of ketones (depending on if I am fasting that day or not). Stress is horrible for your blood sugar and metabolism. It puts you in that sympathetic state and makes you gain weight or at least prevents you from losing weight because of the presence of insulin. The same thing happens when you don't get enough sleep, you trigger cortisol and that shoots up your glucose and subsequently your insulin which shuts down ketosis.

    I've lived in Okinawa for years, not military, and all over Japan. My wife is Japanese. I'm still here. I wonder how many years she lived in Okinawa/mainland Japan? Did she live the foreigner life in Japan and Okinawa as someone learning from the outside looking in? What island in Okinawa did she live in? Naha? Ishigaki? Miyakojima? A westerners view of why Okinawans live long is very different to the Okinawan perspective. Building healthy skin from the inside out happens primarily through diet. However since @TomBilyeu asked repeatedly about Naomi's skin, I notice she is wearing a soft off-white ivory color that works well with her natural coloring. Tom's natural coloring is similar, however he wears a lot of black and primary colors that are very harsh against his skin, and which drain the color from his face. Wearing the correct colors can make a person look warm and alive or like death warmed over. Do a search on "color and style" or "which colors are right for you?" or even "seasonal color theory" to learn more. This is true for men as well as women. I would love to see Tom wear more colors that will reflect his basic handsome face and super intuitive nature. He is "yin" (and also strong ) and should wear medium tone, blended yin colors. I also feel that sun exposure without spf on bare skin is important-- just get out of the sun before any burning happens. Skin that burns too fast is a sign of systemic inflammation which again needs to be addressed through diet.

I turned this off less than half way through. She did give an interview by another in her field that questioned her specifically about intermittent facts. " *Fasting* is the secret tool in my toolbox " - almost instantly calms inflammation. Personally, if an autoimmune RA flare occurs, I hydrate with H20 only. Zero food. And within a 24 - 48 hr period, the flare calms. So, fasting works. Best of health to all. #morejoy ♥️ Thank you @Tom Bilyeau and @Naomi Whittel.

      Frankly, I'd *like* to have some sort of regular fasting regimen. But I currently I do it reactively. As opposed to proactively. Which is where I'd like to be eventually. A defined and regular fasting routine. Not there yet. Twice now, over the past 6 months, I've experienced relief from rheumatoid arthritis flares by fasting. Usually by the same day, or the next, I feel a cessation of the flare. Naomi mentions Magnesium salt / epsom salt baths, and I like them as well.

I’ve been married for almost 22 years and yes it’s been stressful. All marriages are stressful. But it’s HOW you handle the stress that can be unhealthy. For you to generalize that we shouldn’t get married tells me how much of a quack doctor you are, if you’re a doctor!!!!!!!

    Should've asked what work she's had done (if any)...fillers, botox, etc. Not asking leaves us all skeptical about her forehead which moves as one big unit.
    Yeah, exercising in a gym isn't what our ancestors were doing. They weren't sitting at a desk job all day. They were busy hunting and gathering. We, on the other hand, must come up with some type of physical activity to stay healthy. There was no real challenge to her statement.

    • @Ishtarthemoon
      @Ishtarthemoon 5 років тому +13

      even if she has had botox it doesn't change the texture of the skin, it just prevents further wrinkles from forming. dermal fillers can help to fill in deeper lines but also won't change the texture of your skin. Hyalauranic acid can help with that though, as she mentioned.

    • @jackiepurler7978
      @jackiepurler7978 5 років тому +28

      @@Ishtarthemoon agreed. However someone who is out promoting anti aging should be open and honest about everything they do, including lasers, chemical peels, microneedling, etc. There's no shame in taking care of your skin, but let's be open and honest about it. She is beautiful and looks great, but if any of that has come from the aforementioned help she should share that also. I'd love women to be more honest about what work they've had done so the rest of us could know what procedures might be worth our money.

      I think she means that repetitive movement in the gym is not good but slow, natural movement are enough. I do agree with that because of many joggers with serious damage to their joins with varices in feet. the repetitive movement will wear off the body but a smooth movement like traditional yoga helps to keep fit

      (edit)
      I totally agree with you that her comments on exercise leaves me a bit confused, too.
      I was going to comment something similar to a comment below that she was probably illuding to the fact that people are trying to go to the gym as a quick and dirty sort of workout rather than living like a human being is built to live. Our bodies require regular motion. She mentions people should be moving all day long (hunting and gathering sort of elements like walking, cooking a food prep without fancy kitchen gadgets is a reasonable workout on its own - all of this as opposed to sitting at a desk for 35-50 hours a week and then having to pencil in the quick "drive thru" exercise hour. Gym exercises are also often very focused on single strengths like "leg day", "arm day", or "cardio" where as living with consistent motion, you'd generally be working the whole body rather than emphasizing one group of muscles at a time.
      The gym is to an active lifestyle as
      Vitamin supplements is to a well balanced diet
      Overall, she presents very well but it wasn't the type of interview I was anticipating based on the title of the video. All of her responses throughout this interview don't seem very concise or thoroughly though out but that's a skill that's honed over time. Maybe she's an introvert and would benefit from prepapring her answers to the interview questions before holding the actual interview.
      Based on the title of the video, I was expecting something more dense with facts and information like a TED talk so this left me feeling a bit like click bait. The result of this interview probably has less to do with her not knowing much about the topic, although, I didn't notice whether or not she claims to be an expert in anything in particular, but it's likely more to do with
      1) she's mostly sharing her perspective. Her own personal findings after speaking with various experts and her own experiences and
      2) it seems like she's maybe wanting to leave more specific information just out of reach for us UA-cam viewers so that we would want to buy her book. ...This is a book promotion interview after all.
