Immortal - Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism 1992 [Full Album]

- The debut masterpiece by Immortal, Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism. Released in 1992, this album brought forth a new sound for the group, who had released a three-track low-fi death metal EP simply titled Immortal less than a year earlier. They now introduced soft folk passages in between the harsh, raw, yet melodic and enchanting metal music. With this release, Immortal was quickly making its way to the top tier of the infamous underground Norwegian Black Metal Scene.

This album always takes my back to my childhood that I’ve spent in Chukotka (the most desolated and north-eastern region of Russia, way more desolated and grim than Siberia). That was a kingdom of eternal night and frost, hardly any sun or summer. The sky was always grim and the wind so strong that sometimes it could easily blew the child or even bigger man away into the Arctic Ocean. No trees or grass could grow on that hollow ground. Just endless miles of grey and black ice covering the land hostile to any living being. It was mid 90s. No internet, no cellphones, no proper tv. I remember sitting in front of the window facing grim and lifeless bulk of grey ice called Arctic Ocean, listening the howling of stray dogs that lived under my house, reading the same book over and over again because there were no other books to be read. I was 13 years old or something. There was no perspective, no idea of happiness or purpose. The world was only made of gloom and frost. Of course I’ve never heard of black metal back in those days. But today when more than 20 years passed, I can safely tell that this album will be the most accurate description of my life in bloody Chukotka, one cold frostbitten abomination of the land.
THE TRVES comment i ever read
Grim but so fascinating, you lived trvue black metal
yes ok but WHY did you live there?
Looking for plane tickets
I absolutely catch your wit
This album is a definition of what is black metal... Even now! Old black metal is still the best
The cover photo's so comfy. Just chilling in a mossy abandoned castle with your bros and being kvlt
On contrary, it's anything but comfy. For instance, there might be freezing winds blowing in the background..
Abbath's voice sounds better on this than any other Immortal album. so raw.
sounds like eating decadent peaches of the underworld
+SonOfBoromir Quorthon did it before Dead
It's fucking unreal isn't it? So good.
SonOfBoromir whats odins hunt? youtube gave me nothing. thanks
His voice imo was pretty shit on Battles in the North, but you're right it's fucking incredible on this!
bro that is probably one of my favorite album covers, its breathtaking
Especially for that guy who is spitting the fire😂
You can hear the heavy influence by Bathory's Under the Sign of the Black Mark...
Xela Hollow
From the colour pallet in the front cover, guitar tone, singing method, etc.....Heavy Influence as you said
Indeed..

I like Immortal more by quite the measure here.
Of course
for sure. when I first heard this in a friend's car when it came out, I said "new Bathory going back to the older stuff??". He said no, sadly. Thought it was a huge rip off but it grew on me so much its my fav Immortal album.
Still one of the best black metal albums ever..
came across this crusty tape at a used record store for 75 cents back in the early 90's. Never heard of them, looking for new metal, thought the cover looked cool. Was the best dollar I've spent in my life
The best finds are when your not looking for them 😎👌
Came across a CD twenty years ago for $2 by SADNESS ~ Danteferno!
Still one of my favourites to this day!
@@blackflameovation1709 never heard of them till now, some good doom, sounds like a solid album, especially for the time. I had a friend who wrote for a metal magazine back in the day and he handed me a couple promo cd's in cardboard sleeves. Tiamat - Wildhoney and for me an unheard of band at the time Dissection - Storm of the Lights Bane
@@Black.Duck. blah blah blach fuck you
@@Black.Duck. I bought an album called Shergar Is Home Safe and Well by a british band called Ceramic hobs that I will never fully understand but do like
@@lesterhalfjr different from Immortal but i honestly enjoyed that song more than anything on the charts today 👊
Golden Age of BM !!!
And death metal too.
Mongolical precioso
90s? Yes
They'll never be as raw as they were in the beginning, but they'll always be FUN.
They peaked at that time but the newer albums are still enjoyable. For as much could be said about BlackMetal being problematic Modern American/Anglo Rock essentially tried very hard to be RnB but for scared suburbanites or is trying to hard to be 80s or 90s Music whereas Black Metal has an actual soul to it.
Dafuq?! Their EP is Death Metal vomit! Dark Funeral's DM EP was lightyears ahead. Sure, 'raw' in DM terms, but THIS is raw as fuck in BM terms. It's revolutionary! I'm biased and 'kvlt' in a sense... I have this in original LP... but still... I can hardly listen to the DM Immortal, considering what kind of insanely awesome DM was coming out at the same time. They made the right choice sticking with BM.
Now it's just Demonaz in the band, and a new album on May 26 this year
My father showed me this album. What an absolute metalhead he is, and still is today 🤘✡

Best part of the album: WOOW!!! WOWOWOW!
"A Perfect Vision of the Rising Northland" is a pure masterpiece, full of mysticism. Damn great album, underrated by the way.
Vodka spit
favorite off the album
one of the best true raw underground black metal albums
can you explain me why this is considered "true" and "raw"?
I am ignorant, just want to know
its esoteric, either you get it or you dont. Only three bands are completely trve kvlt: Mayhem, Darkthrone and Burzum.( the early stuff 91 until 94 ish) Before that was too experimental, later stuff became trend. PS the trve kvlt thing is a ongoing joke in black metal, but it describes something that there are no better words for.
Kvlt is a name that is used by black metal hipsters so in that sense none of those bands are so called kvlt
Kvlt has been around for twenty years, hipsters have not. These bands( first albums) define kvlt.
Mayhem, dark throne ans Burzum where all making music before that time. And as far as i can remember i never heared of the term and especially not the spelling since a couple of years ago when hipsters caught on to the occult hype. You know, when it started to get cool to wear a black shirt with a pentagram.
Masterpiece
Victor Vikernes Why I am see you every Black Metal song?
this album is truly special
it's so simple and so raw but also complex
it's just the perfect album to listen to when drinking alone, it's so infinitely replayable, I always revisit it

Advice: Never drink ALONE :)
Drinking alone ain't bad at all sometimes I dont prefer it and sometimes I do
🤷♂️ no big deal
The best work from IMMORTAL!!
да)
IMO Battles in the North is slightly better
This and Pure Holocaust are definitely my favorites
PURE HOLOCAUST!!!! WITHOUT QUESTION!!! BEYOND THE SHADOW OF ANY DOUBT!!! THEN Battles in the North....It's awesome, but has such a weird, flat production.....Once Demonaz switched instruments with Abbath...Guitar to bass, etc...It slowed down, but got crunchier, which I did not mind....At the Heart of Winter & Sons of Northern Darkness were absolutely dope!
You're right!
A masterpiece of black metal... very good...

yeah! ;)
Proof that Black Metal can be written beautifully.
My hair stood up once the vocals kicked in! Thumb if this happened to you too!
This Album brought tears to my eyes. It reminded me all of my youth, specially Call of the Wintermoon :).
i like this album more than heart of winter. its slower, a bit more raw, the acoustic bits are absolutely marvelous too
Ecupe fuego
The acoustics...
you've defined a classic.
definitely my favourite BM album of all time. it just holds a special place in my heart. the introduction... the acoustic guitar bits... the vocals... unbeatable atmosphere

beautiful masterpiece. they never attached to any bandwagons like satanism or were any type of religious bigotry they were just music and here is this beautiful timeless work of black metal.
Yeah I really liked that in their work. They spun their own mythical world around the violent beauty of nature instead of babbling about being evil.
Yeah, so true.
what a gem of an album
unholy forces of evil is one of the greatest black metal songs ever recorded. the whole album is a masterpiece, but that song speaks to me . its straight from hell.
8:53 "its...delicious"
I piss myself at that every time
"And evil!"
"the demon..." idiot go listen to cannibal corpse...
9:02 "Oooh.... It's deliciouuus"
@@XxDeathCrush6Xx ..... yea i hear this shit
Unlike no other guitar player from the 2nd wave, Demonaz fully captured the essence of Quorthon's guitar style on this release except intensified 2X or 3X.
I remember the very first time i listened to this album, it was one of the coldest nights of the dark winter in the middle of a coniferous environment in Finland. My body was shivering uncontrollably, it was cold, so cold. I felt like my skinny appearance was turning to ice at any moment as i hardly managed to walk through my room. The ground was heavily snowy on the outside, i could´s see the thermometer through the window covered by ice, my hands were still frozen after i had taken a mail from the mailbox from our front yard 20 minutes earlier, i fought my way all the way to the mailbox and back, to me it was ragnarök, a struggle. I tried to calm myself down a little but i could not because of the cold atmosphere of the night, there was something in the air, something was going to happen, at that moment i could not understand it because it was yet to happen, i was afraid, i was alone, so alone. Then i managed to open my computer while desperately trying to warm myself up by drinking my pitch black coffee (without sugar ofc), at my computer. Then i started to listen to this album, i felt a cold winter breeze softly flowing through the room, then happened something i wish i would not have had to experience. i don´t want to think of it or reminisce, it was something...demonic. All i could functionally think during that moment, was to ask myself, why? Why was this burden laid upon my ears and soul? Odin alone knows the answer. This is one of the best black metal albums ever. This was my tragedy.
Yes, but WHAT HAPPENED
He made this comment, then put on some black leather and corpse paint and went into the woods to slay the creatures of the night in a demonic fashion.
Following the pillars of smoke that the diabolical full moon made visible he eventually came to a church to warm himself beside.
msmith1845 The fire had been started by some other true kvlt black metal fans, he could see their footprints still fresh in the snow leading too…..
you're damn high
Best black metal album
The quintessence of Black Metal!
One of the best debuts in Metal.

One of the best black metal album ever!!
I still think this is probably the best Immortal album - those fucking Vocals are just indescribable - they are so intense! He sounds possessed by all evil hell - what a infectious voice!!! Hails to old Immortal - Hails from Canada! I await the Call Of The Winter Moon... 'Unholy Forces Of Evil' is my favorite song of Immortal.
vocals radiate pure evil and i love it
i never hear anyone talking about this album. by far my favourite from immortal.
They honestly never came close to this again
Absolutely amazing. Up there with Under the Sign of the Black Mark for me.
The influence of Stryper is undeniable.
I also notice a lot of Whitecross inspiration as well ...
Best Immortal album! Every song in this album is a timeless classic of black metal.
One of the best black metal bands of the 2nd wave of black metal!! :D
De lo mejor tu foto Napalm Deaht scum monstruosidad d e disco
The hell you talking about? This was the first wave! Before this it was Proto metal and the Interim
+PopularMineOS First wave = Venom, Bathory, Hellhammer and early Sodom. Second wave = Darkthrone, Emperor, Immortal, Burzum, Gorgoroth, Satyricon and many others. First wave bands had all the traits of black metal: Gutteral vocals, tremolo picking, blast beats, lo-fi production and emphasis on atmosphere over melody. Second wave bands just got rid of the trash metal elements and the musical traits became more prominent.
its thrash not trash, also no not all of them had all the traits, venom is harly ever considered black metal at all, but yea sure

I had this album more than 10 years ago but i didn't remember it was THIS good! Awesome album! But my favourite is still "At the Heart of Winter" which is just perfect :)
you are absolutely right!
I remember hearing this and not rly liking it that much. I came back after a few years and now i think it is the best and most evil black metal album ever. Great stuff
this is my favorite black metal album of all time! so fucking good and raw!!!
Abbath's vocals in this album are just one of a kind
Très bon album 🤘
İmmortal: diabolical fullmoon
Morbid: december moon
Mayhem:freezing moon
All three of my favorite bands
These guys don't believe in the devil, we listen to these songs cause they're fucking excellent.
Huuughh!!! You suck

best Immortal album imo
Beyond excellent work by Immortal, absolute masterpiece.
Hands down the best Immortal album. Can’t seem to get into any of the newer stuff but then I do prefer old school BM.
Следующий их "чистый холокост" как минимум не хуже.
A landmark in black metal history !
I've spent much time trying to find an album that sounds like this but I think that's really unique!
The most similar is definitely Bathory's Under the Sign of the Black Mark.
@@JJJ111JJJ maybe but bathory sounds less extreme.
Yes, atmosphere of this album is uniqe.
Try Horde’s Hellig Usvart. 😊
a lot of the more lo-fi albums from the norwegian scene sound somewhat similar to this. try darkthrone - under a funeral moon or satyricon - dark medieval times
Honestly my favourite Immortal album. The whole thing sounds ominous to me, which is something I felt was missing from their later material.
The vocal performance really takes this album to the next level.
A Classic album of 90ś, Buen black Metal :)
I adore early immortal. Ahhhhh what am I on about i adore all Immortal.
Fantastico y brutal gran sonido gran voz de abbath gran trabajo Nordico
One of my all time favorite old school Black Metal recordings! My love of Bathory's (Quorthon's) music led me to bands like Immortal, Impaled Nazarene, Darkthrone, Emperor and the like. Hail to the days of a time long since past!
check Macabre Omen if you're a fan of Bathory. You'll like them
Cryptic winterstorms goes hard fuck yeah *hails you * immortal 🙌🏻👹💀
The perfect masterpiece and life altering album for me. I transition into the darkest and most mystical abyss of profound ecstacy 🤘🖤

What a powerful album!
That has to be the most Black Metal Album Cover ever i love it
Could this Album be The BEST BM ALBUM of all time. I don't see why not.
I remember the first time when i listen this album, was a raining day...cold and dark
Great Album. My favorite Black Metal Band from Norway. lots of other bands should learn from them.
This is my favorite Immortal album. I think I listen to this about once a dar or every other day. Fucking amazing! Thank you!
I doubt you actually do. Or you must have recently started doing that.
Great album!!!
Listening to this in the woods while staring at a full moon on the winter solstice. Fuck yes.
Whatever
it's crazy how much Immortal and a lot of early 2nd wave BM bands early work is pure Bathory worship. This album is absolutely amazing completely ferocious with the genuine atmosphere of evil. I love all of Immortal's work in their own respective rights but nothing comes close to how fucking badass the guitar riffs on Unholy Forces of Evil are or Abbath's god-tier vocals on the entire album. one of the best BM albums bar none.
Absolutely, this has that classic brutal evil lofi sound. What I like about Immortal in particular is how they are evocative and atmospheric. The acoustic bits give it a feeling of dark winter coldness and desolation unmatched in Black metal IMO
Masterpiece!!!!
I dont know why but the solo of the '' A perfect vision of rising Northland '' make's me cry
