Firouzja is such an inspiration, he has motivated me from being a lazy toilet seat player for 4-5 years to be genuinely interested to learn an opening...
The clarity of explanation here is exceptional. Every time I thought 'but why doesn't he move...' you answer before I finished the thought. Great video, thank you!
@@michaelrogerson5417 Stop lying to yourself, this video was extremely missexplainined, he doesnt mention several important variations on Alireza's games, because he knows he can't explain them...
@@who-ve2ss You and I are at different levels. I don't need to know every line of the theory. I'm not 'lying to myself', I've simply said that, from my point of view, this video was helpful. You clearly need something more advanced. I wish I were in your position. Congrats.
The single feature of many of these games that amazed me is how Firouzja disdained castling, took his King on long walks, and yet somehow the monarch was never in trouble. Great selection of games!!
Very instructive and great content on your end. Would love to see similar analysis of top players with different approaches in major openings, especially the ones you play like the Semi-Slav or London. In other words, more of this please!
I had a Rapid tournament on Lichess, I came accross this video 1 hour to the tournament, all my games as black was the Caro Kann, now guess what! I won it all!! awesome video
Phenomenal video. If I weren't already subscribed I would after this video. One of the best chess videos I've seen. Perfect intro to the Firouzja phenom as well.
Thank you so much!! I play the Caro-Kann and this video will now be in heavy rotation for my studies. I really enjoy your content and this video in particular. Thanks again and I look forward to watching many more of your videos.
The Caro-Kann is an opening that's always intrigued me very much, but I'm hesitant to learn it because white can steer the game into many different directions. And that's me saying that as a Sicilian defense player lol I'm enjoying your breakdown of Alireza's games, and it's good to see a top player utilizing one of the all-time greatest openings and giving other people the confidence to do the same :)
So you are not afraid to play the sicilian which is a chaotic opening for both sides, but you are afraid to learn Caro Kann which is less chaotic? Black is solid in caro kann in 95 % of the positions. For us amateurs caro is a perfect choice. But it all comes down to preference at the end of the day
You have the best way of analyzing games and explaining everything that is going on. I appreciate you sharing your thoughts on video for us because it has helped me so much with just understanding what's going on. I'm a relatively new player and I'm so happy I found your channel. Thank you!
Watched your Caro Kann video ,took notes ,and used it against a good opponent and it worked good ,I won the game ,very nice .Im going to watch the remainder of you video . Well done dude ,thank you
Great video. Lots of new ideas to improve my (admittedly shallow) understanding of the caro kann. One suggestion - please use the usual circles and arrows because post beginners like me have a hard time following all the rapid coordinate description and some of the more advanced tactical ideas.
Very nice video! You bring Firouzja and also th Caro-Kann. The last game, as an amateur player, I would never imagine the black's King walk to b8 and his queen's pawns attack at the same time.
This is why im playing the caro kann, ive been fustrated with the opening in the past but.I thanks to this video ive got a great understanding.Subscribed & Liked,i like your love for the game great channel.
Thank you for the video! It's a little over my head - I'm not a Caro Kann player by any means - but I like your enthusiasm and respect for Alireza, and I think I may have picked up a couple of tips along the way.
Godwilling, surely this channel will become big !! I mean, look at the quality of the content, the explanation, everything. (Not to mention the thumbnails)
I finally realize what alireza reminds me of, hes alphazero. Hes not afraid of weakening moves, he plays for activity and likes moving his king a lot :p
After watching the video, totally appreciate your comment and completely agree. This play is really something special. You can see the future 2800 in this play entirely.
Dear Stjepan, another hint is to analyze and watch the Game of the german prodigy Vincent Keymer. His main weapon with black is also CK against e4 and also very impressive games.
36:00 according to Erwin L'Ami (and therefore Lc0), 6...Qxd4 is simply refuted by 7.Be3! Qxb2 8.Bc4! and if 8...Qxa1+ 9.Ke2 Qxh1, then it's mate in 4 starting with 10.Qxf7+.
at 30:26 I believe the threat is Bc5 if white played Nxd4. Bh2+ doesn't work after Kh1, Qxd4, Bxc6, and no matter how you recapture black can play Bxc4 and remove the defender of our bishop on h2.
Thanks man for the video, I'll definitely start playing the Caro from now on don't you think it's a good weapon against the Scotch and Danish openings, these are my biggest weaknesses so far..
I love caro- kaan, infact i never play the advanced(best) against caro players as they almost always know everything about it. I just play the panov attack 🔥
Awesome learning experience! I only wish with the 1/2 doz or so speed-ups sprinkled throughout, we were not throttled thru so quickly. But despite that, this is among my favorite videos.
Sometimes I get annoyed when my Caro kann doesn't work out the way I want it to and then I end up losing the game. This kid always finds other plans. Very instructive
I think there is also play-style and strength you need to take into account next to just a strong player playing an opening. There are some openings that are so versatile that you can play them in many different ways. Some players play an opening very agressively and have good results, some play it positionally. For example not everyone will be suited to play the Caro like Karpov but will need to play it more acitvely.
Are there any good books I can use to learn the caro-kann currently, apart from Lars Schandorff's Playing the Caro-Kann: A Counter Attacking Repertoire(it is quite expensive)
@@siddharthkapur4767 yeah it’s pretty badly outdated I’m afraid. I’ve got it and some of the recommendations in the Advance variation just aren’t good anymore. Pretty good still for everything else.
If you are not particular about books and like Chessable, check out Erwin L’Ami’s Lifetime Repertoires: Caro Kann, it is a wonderful course showing 900 variations as well as almost every move being commented on. L’Ami didn’t just cover known theory, he introduces many novelties and little known lines. This is by far the best Chessable course ever published and I would absolutely recommend.
I think someone deleted this comment when I posted it today about the Tari-Firourizja game at 16:40. Firouizja played 25...e5 but I believe 25...Bxg3 would have been much stronger. White can challenge the g file with 26.Rg1 but then ...Bf4 . White can trade rooks on g7 but then...e5 as in the game, black keeps the pawn and the bishop,, and the attack will continue. In the game after 25...e5 white should have played 26.dxe5.. If black plays Bxh3 26.exf6 wins for white.
I wish you display the moves in algebraic notation such that I could copy it accurately and have my chess engine replay the games with all the variations, recommendations and analyses.
17:11 Kg1 Novelty. Maybe I am just horrendous at chess, but I gotta know how black breaks though after Nh2 Rg2? Nf1. The idea might be longterm Nf5 Nh4 Qg2 mate somewhere?
You are right, Kg1 is an illegal move, Stepan often says some nonsense in his videos, and you were alert at this moment, congratulations! After Nh2, Qg2 mate
