@@shreyasdharashivkar8027 I almost bought a keyboard I had no idea what brand it was now I’m just saving up for a custom keyboard with the right switches and key caps
I think that for filling the caps with silicone you could use the same syringe approach as the stab lube, but with a 40-50mL syringe (to avoid wasting time refilling) and a 14 gauge needle! seems promising!
For my keyboard, I put a couple layers of tape under the pcb, and a few layers of EVA foam in the case, and just one between the plate and pcb. Sounds really good for a cheap gamer keyboard! And also lubed switches and stabs, and a xda keycap set that's a bit thicker than the original set.
polyfill is an especially nice mod over foam on gasket-mounted or other flexy keyboards because it compresses way more than most foam. I use it in my Q1 and it retains almost identical flex as no foam has, but without the ping of having no foam.
The vids keep getting more and more entertaining. Thanks for the fun. As usual they're also very informative. The silicone sounds well, didn't think it would, might have to try that just not as much
EVA foam does more wonders. I’m using one for case and PCB, and they work well for these past few weeks without any fire hazard (mine has Bluetooth function with battery). I say all of these “hacks” are all worth it if you can dial it correctly.
I was actually looking forward to hearing all of the silicone filled keycaps. I thought about doing it before, but it is really time consuming with a syringe. PS: The splatter actually turned out awesome.
My keyboard has a battery in it and I’ve been using the tape mod for about 2 months now… How did yours almost set fire? Edit: I’ve also done mod 6 before and I would recommend using a syringe, also you should probably only fill the keys that use stabs because it’s the most noticeable difference
@switch and click, Curious to know about this as well since I plan to do mods on my feker ik75 and use the wireless option. Not sure if there was a video on this before.
Fun fact, PE Foam is weak enough that you can plunge the switch right through it. That's what I started doing because it's so tedious to poke out all the holes by hand
I have a suggestion for anyone looking for a deeper sounding switch in a budget, but it's a frankenswitch, where I took the stem of an Akko Silver and used a lubed housing and lubed spring from an Akko Ocean Blue. This made for a nice deep linear switch, and the stem of the Silver didn't need lube as it made no difference. It would probably also be fine with stock blue housings but I already had them lubed from a previous build. The silvers on their own are also good for a budget thocc with no mods, since lubing made a minimal difference for the few switches I lubed on it
Thank you very much for compiling all these mods into one video like this. It was super entertaining, and gave me more insight in the actual sound changes that the mods might give myself. I just put together my first custom keeb using the Tecware Phantom 87 and just swapping the switches to the Akko Jelly Starfishes (p.s. the horror stories of using those included metal switch pullers were true...RIP many Gateron Reds :( lol). Suprisingly, the only mod it could see most benefit from would be the tape mod, which will be safe in it seeing how it isn't wireless. MAYBE the band-aid mod would do something too, but overall...this budget board is almost too solid when you pair it with decent switches.
question, couldnt using like fuzzy stuff in a keyboard case cause static damage to the pcb and fry it? im afraid to try stuff out in my keyboard case because of this.
Much respect to you. The willingness to take things apart is one of the most beneficial traits a person can possess. Over the course of a lifetime it will save you great sums of money and vastly improve your understanding of how and why things work like they do. One word of caution- anything with large capacitors (old TVs, CRT monitors, microwaves, AC units ect) read up on how to safely discharge the capacitors before you open things up. A capacitor can sometimes store enough of a charge to end a life so just do a bit of research so you know how to identify what capacitors look like and how to make them safe to work with. It's not a hard or complex process, just an important one. Keep up the great work!
Definitely doing the band-aid mod. I thought my stabilizers were trash because of all the rattling I keep hearing, and all I needed to do was put band-aid.
I managed to achieve the sound I wanted with Polyfil. I arranged it in the case in little pieces so it filled it eavenly and it didn't get too much in the way when it was time to put everything back together. The splatter one is the true Halloween keyboard
for the syringe mod, i do not recommend narrow syringes, it is very hard to get the lube in and once you do, you are more likely to force the needle end off before the lube comes out
I got a k60 pro Corsair keyboard with cherry mx speed silvers And I love the way it sounds and as a person who plays fnf and rythm games I need fast response times, originally I had a 40$ keyboard which was very nice and served me well but it didn’t have fast enough responses and ever since then I’ve gotten fascinated with keyboards and a person that I watched who got me more into keyboards is Switch & click love the channel keep up the good content i would love to see you do something different like a series on Minecraft would be really cool!
try using needles (like those in hospital) and inject the silicone to the keycaps so u can measure the silicone easier with the amounts and stuffs (idk if that really works but yeah just something pop out of my mind)
speaking about pre-lubed switches, they're indeed pretty good nowadays but I still think you should do some research (UA-cam, reviews...) because some are lubed amazingly (eg. Akko CS switches) but some are lubed terribly. My first keyboard was the Glorious GMMK TKL Ice white Edition and it came with "pre-lubed" Gateron Browns. Yeah, this lube job was just terrible, out of all the 87 keys only around 15-20 actually felt like they were lubed, and only 10-12 felt and sounded good. Compared to the Akko Jelly Blacks, which were very well lubed and just 1-2 felt a bit "stock", the Gateron Browns were trash. Not saying the Gateron Browns themselves are bad, but the lube-job Glorious did with them definetily was. A pity considering their pre-lubed Lynx and Panda switches are actually pretty damn well lubed.

Foam under each key cap is like a weaker o-ring mod, provides a much quieter feel yet not as bouncy as o rings. It does take long though because it requires you to cut holes for the stem but the weight feels the same.
Just a heads up on the Foam Keycaps, I used 1mm EVA foam and it can give off a "mushy" feel, but for office quite typing it's better than nothing. Combined with o Rings though it makes it way too mushy though.

To avoid the o-rings falling off the standoffs, you can put them on the screws, put the screws through the pcb, more o-rings, and the line it up.
I came here to comment that, I thought it'd be common sense, trying put the o-rings first and than align everything is so dumb.
In your guys opinion
Is that mod worth it?
@@MARS-eb8pt I mean it's a few o-rings and there is a tangible difference in sound and I'd assume typing feel, so yes imo.

The polyfill is really great with gasket mount because it doesnt push against the pcb so the board can still flex
Instead of Polyfill, use polyester fleece from a sewing shop. Easier to work with and you can layer it to the desired thickness.
