- I tested a few keyboard mods that may or may not result in an improvement. But sometimes you need to chase the thock. The end result is pretty good though

I used to have no idea what keyboards and switches are good but this channel has help me make good decision when buying a keyboard thank you
So what was your good decision?
@@shreyasdharashivkar8027 I almost bought a keyboard I had no idea what brand it was now I’m just saving up for a custom keyboard with the right switches and key caps
@@notzephyir6975 just buy a prebuilt and then mod it
@@paklekj4429 thanks for the advice
Yup
To avoid the o-rings falling off the standoffs, you can put them on the screws, put the screws through the pcb, more o-rings, and the line it up.
I came here to comment that, I thought it'd be common sense, trying put the o-rings first and than align everything is so dumb.
In your guys opinion
Is that mod worth it?
@@MARS-eb8pt I mean it's a few o-rings and there is a tangible difference in sound and I'd assume typing feel, so yes imo.
Came here to comment this, don't know why all of the youtubers do it this way...
@@MAGAIVER Yeah, tried the o-rings first and quicly figured out it was gonna be hard to align everything. Way easier to put them on the srews.
The polyfill is really great with gasket mount because it doesnt push against the pcb so the board can still flex
Instead of Polyfill, use polyester fleece from a sewing shop. Easier to work with and you can layer it to the desired thickness.
For my keyboard, I put a couple layers of tape under the pcb, and a few layers of EVA foam in the case, and just one between the plate and pcb. Sounds really good for a cheap gamer keyboard!
And also lubed switches and stabs, and a xda keycap set that's a bit thicker than the original set.
polyfill is an especially nice mod over foam on gasket-mounted or other flexy keyboards because it compresses way more than most foam. I use it in my Q1 and it retains almost identical flex as no foam has, but without the ping of having no foam.
The vids keep getting more and more entertaining. Thanks for the fun. As usual they're also very informative. The silicone sounds well, didn't think it would, might have to try that just not as much
Thank you!
I think that for filling the caps with silicone you could use the same syringe approach as the stab lube, but with a 40-50mL syringe (to avoid wasting time refilling) and a 14 gauge needle! seems promising!
Thank you very much, I will try it!
A less messy alternative that I have done is put foam tape in the spacebar.
Sounds awesome Betty and I love the blood red vampire splatter you so gracefully applied across the white key caps. Very entertaining video Betts. 🤜💥🤛
Thank you so much!
i have a friend with the last name betts
I managed to achieve the sound I wanted with Polyfil. I arranged it in the case in little pieces so it filled it eavenly and it didn't get too much in the way when it was time to put everything back together. The splatter one is the true Halloween keyboard
Love the uploads lately!!! Excited to see what will you make in the future :D
I have a suggestion for anyone looking for a deeper sounding switch in a budget, but it's a frankenswitch, where I took the stem of an Akko Silver and used a lubed housing and lubed spring from an Akko Ocean Blue. This made for a nice deep linear switch, and the stem of the Silver didn't need lube as it made no difference. It would probably also be fine with stock blue housings but I already had them lubed from a previous build. The silvers on their own are also good for a budget thocc with no mods, since lubing made a minimal difference for the few switches I lubed on it
question, couldnt using like fuzzy stuff in a keyboard case cause static damage to the pcb and fry it? im afraid to try stuff out in my keyboard case because of this.
Yoo love your videos💕keep the good work up😄🔥
Thank you! Will do!
Thank you very much for compiling all these mods into one video like this. It was super entertaining, and gave me more insight in the actual sound changes that the mods might give myself. I just put together my first custom keeb using the Tecware Phantom 87 and just swapping the switches to the Akko Jelly Starfishes (p.s. the horror stories of using those included metal switch pullers were true...RIP many Gateron Reds :( lol). Suprisingly, the only mod it could see most benefit from would be the tape mod, which will be safe in it seeing how it isn't wireless. MAYBE the band-aid mod would do something too, but overall...this budget board is almost too solid when you pair it with decent switches.
Thank you for watching!
Great vid! Here to a good 2022
Fun fact, PE Foam is weak enough that you can plunge the switch right through it. That's what I started doing because it's so tedious to poke out all the holes by hand
I got a k60 pro Corsair keyboard with cherry mx speed silvers And I love the way it sounds and as a person who plays fnf and rythm games I need fast response times, originally I had a 40$ keyboard which was very nice and served me well but it didn’t have fast enough responses and ever since then I’ve gotten fascinated with keyboards and a person that I watched who got me more into keyboards is Switch & click love the channel keep up the good content i would love to see you do something different like a series on Minecraft would be really cool!
Thank you for review on the keyboards and the types of mods that should be place for the keyboard. :) it does help !!!
ALMOST AT 400K!!! GOOD JOB!👏👏
Hearing you talk about removing the battery for fire safety reasons and then watching you prise it out with a pair of scissors was scary! 😲😂
My keyboard has a battery in it and I’ve been using the tape mod for about 2 months now…
How did yours almost set fire?
Edit: I’ve also done mod 6 before and I would recommend using a syringe, also you should probably only fill the keys that use stabs because it’s the most noticeable difference
@switch and click, Curious to know about this as well since I plan to do mods on my feker ik75 and use the wireless option. Not sure if there was a video on this before.
Your videos are still way to good for YT. I love them!
Your videos just hypes me up more to get into custom keyboard building in the future hehe. I'm curious but I wanna ask, have you tried jailhouse modding blue switches? I wanna see your take on it
I was actually looking forward to hearing all of the silicone filled keycaps. I thought about doing it before, but it is really time consuming with a syringe.
PS: The splatter actually turned out awesome.
Hey, I have the most pedantic correction. Technically, it's closer to a spatter than a splatter due to the smaller droplets.
EVA foam does more wonders. I’m using one for case and PCB, and they work well for these past few weeks without any fire hazard (mine has Bluetooth function with battery).
I say all of these “hacks” are all worth it if you can dial it correctly.
Yes, EVA foam's great! I've got layers of it inside mine (cause I only have 2mm sheets). Made it sound a little hefty.
so its fully safe to tape mod it eventhough i have a battery?
@@bim.ajadah ofc
LOL!!! This video is already the funniest take on the mod videos I've watched.
Keep Up The Good Work! Love Your Vids
Definitely doing the band-aid mod. I thought my stabilizers were trash because of all the rattling I keep hearing, and all I needed to do was put band-aid.
You should have used a icing cone for pouring the silicone :)
Great video!😃👍
This video was great.🔥🔥
Was your thumb thockier after your bandaid mod?
for the syringe mod, i do not recommend narrow syringes, it is very hard to get the lube in and once you do, you are more likely to force the needle end off before the lube comes out
Pro advice right here
Much respect to you. The willingness to take things apart is one of the most beneficial traits a person can possess. Over the course of a lifetime it will save you great sums of money and vastly improve your understanding of how and why things work like they do. One word of caution- anything with large capacitors (old TVs, CRT monitors, microwaves, AC units ect) read up on how to safely discharge the capacitors before you open things up. A capacitor can sometimes store enough of a charge to end a life so just do a bit of research so you know how to identify what capacitors look like and how to make them safe to work with. It's not a hard or complex process, just an important one. Keep up the great work!
Great video! I love the effort, I love the whisper screaming!
haha thank you!
From giving you eardrums to making you satisfied...😌
lol
Giving you eardrums ✅️
Satisfy you😳 ✅️
So you yell and whisper @ the same time?
Just realised
very entertaining video! yours is the only channel I like to watch regularly. i don't have a mechanical keyboard yet but will probs get a budget-friendly one soon just to start. thank you for your recommendations!
Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much gonna try!

Congrats on being early and finding this comment 🥇
:D
Nice mod compilation, great stuff, makes me want to try some.
Go for it!
Another great video! Keep up with the upload style, and I LOVE your channel!
Thank you! Will do!
Talk normally, sounds better
The progression in production quality for this channel is so good! It's kinda fun going back and forth between the old and new content :)
thank you so much!
Yeah but the fake expression in her voice isn't doing well for me
Needed this.
This was the third video of hers I watched today, and I have decided to sub
Great Video, love that you are helping us with making our keyboard(EVEN OUR MX BLUES) sound better!
bro what 💀
@@orangeboiii. Im saying that this video is making solutions for makng our keyboard sound better. I said even our mx blues beacuse it would probably make the keybord sound better!
Congrats on 400k
400K! Congratulations 🎊🎉🎈
Thank you!!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Yea! Your My Favorite UA-camr! :)
1 hour before a day! Love your videos! :) Keep it up! 👍❤️✨
400k!!! Congratulations Betty!!!!!
Thank you!
You are so overly excitable but not in a trying too hard to get views way, in a genuine and absolutely delightful way and I love it! Your content is seriously fantastic and I'm going to be building my first keyboard thanks to you. 💙
Wow, thank you!
Consent is essential when syringe lubing stabilizers. I'm glad you raised this important point!
Yoooo love it Nice
you are the best! Ever tried shredded paper towel filling?
Thock-tasicly good video ngl
i just got my first mechanical ever yesterday and now it sounds awesome! thanks!
Idk why this was so funny great vid lol
This help me so much
Happy 400k! 🥳🎊
Thank you!
I read the title in your voice and it fits perfectly
The silicone mod was a mod I did a year back with glue intead on the space bar. It didn't turn out well and I ended up losing my spacebar and having to use a replacement because it kept being mushy and I could not take it out. I wasn't the brightest to think about that
The stabilizer syringe hack is the one i've been looking for. Because i was worried about the lube getting into the board and it will not work. Plus my keyboard doesn't have a hotswap so yeahh thank you so much this really helps me.
New video, nice!
i used tissue paper with holes in it to mimic foam and clear tape for "foam" and "tape" mod, but it worked. I also discovered no difference between using fabric and plastic bandaids for any baindaid related mod
Love your vids
Ty,helps much
thx for the vids
I know I’ve commented before on one of your videos but i can’t remember which- I did a silicone mod to inside of my case! It was a mess of mixing & clumping, but it’s a fairly good muting sound. Idk! Whatevs! 👍 Awesome video! 👍
That is awesome!
*Congrat for 400K SUBSCRIBERS!!!!*
Thank you!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial you’re welcome :))
What was the cotton fluff supposed to do?
The plaster stabliser mod is really clever though.
This was so entertaining! Thank you! Thock!****
Glad you enjoyed it
yayayayy fun day when betty uploads!
Hey Betty, if you happen to remember my comment a while back I wanted to do UA-cam, and you suggested I start ASAP! While since then I haven't but luckily I found a gpu gtx 960 which my poor pc has been searching for one for ages! Finally I feel strongly motivated to create videos again! Recently finally got new things for my yunzii kc84s, the akko cs matcha green!!! And I'm glad you posted this because I need to do so much more for THOCC, but also I noticed krytox205g0 is super expensive, I swear there was a giant tube for like 20$AUD but now I can only see the small circular ones and they are very expensive!!! What should I do?!
I don't know why I feel like this is the best vid in your channel ❤️💯
Thank you!
"and a willing keyboard" hahahaha.
And the finger band aid mod. :D
You can actually get poly fill in sheets that are much easier to work with. The sheets are usually labeled as quilt filler.
I never really cared about keyboards and got a membrane (hyperx alloy core rgb) Now im mechanical keyboard addicted and am soon getting one, thanks for making this video, I now know what mods to do!
love the vids my fav you tuber
Hey! love your vids. did the band aid mod and it sounds thoccer. thanks for you kb vids :)
Turkey basters are super cheap and great for applying silicone to small spaces. Otherwise, Home Depot, Lowes, or whatever hardware store is in your area should carry silicon and latex caulk in a squeeze tube which both also would be great for this mod!
400k subs congrats🤯
Thank you!
My inner keyboard nerd thanks you. Love the content.
Glad you enjoy it!
That blood splatter actually looks pretty good. I could buy a set that looks like that... maybe.
the blood splatter keycaps actually looked pretty fire ngl
Love the vid
Love the over dramatic voice :)
Not related to making the keyboard sound better but I can't find any info on the internet about using clear resin to coat cheap ABS keycaps to protect it from peeling (eg. Logitech G815/G915 keycaps that has no PBT replacements). Will the keycaps feel worse?
OH MY GOSH!!! 5HIS VIDEO FIXED MY RATTLING SPACEBAR!!! POG POG POG POG!!! YOU ARE THE BEST UA-camR EVER! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! OMG!
Just did mod # 6 but with out silicon. I used Hot Glue. It is easier to control and if you get to much you can use the tip of the hot glue gun to heat it up again and remove some. Buying more expensive keycaps is probably better. But, doing this will make cheap keycaps sound much better. The RGB even shines through the hotglue. So, the letter on my cheap keycaps still light up.
I have the red dragon k599 keyboard and was thinking about doing a tape/pe foam mod. I know it has a battery and was wondering how the mod would work with a battery in it. (I’m new to modding btw). Nice vid!
This is pretty cool
Switch and click thank you so much before watching your videos (they are great!) I didn't know so much about keyboard and switches, but i learned from you (expert for keyboard and switches) Just wanna say thank you.
Glad I could help!
Just watching gave me the idea of using a seringe for the silicon as well, that way you get a nice control and application. I imagine the cap full would not bottom out all the way as it would make contact with the switch, but just a nice layer at the top could really be nice, especially for keys like the spacebar that have lots of open space not over any switch area.
Bonus use a pretty clear silicone and perhaps the RGB would still work well on shine thru caps. Also could try epoxy resin.
For anyone who did the syringe one, I used dielectric grease but it was very thick and rendered 3 separate syringes useless and I had to throw them out. I’m happy with the result but the process was hell on earth. Any tips or advice on how to make this easier next time? Btw my floor is very slippery
Hey switch and click just curious if I put along or anything will it catch fire or make my keyboard stop working?
I'm glad a pretty major keyboard "person?" found the gateron pro series, I have about 2 variants on different boards
Hello! one small question! can you change a spring from a red switch to an black switch (as long as the total travel of both switches is the same, the same brand, etc) and get a black switch with the actuation force of a red one? (i speak in general about mechanical switches...).
Hi, can we get a tutorial for sticky keys and which alchohol to use because its very hard to play with a space bar that does that...
