WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

If you go to a masjid during ramadan, typically they're have a hafiz, someone who memorized the quran, recite the entire quran from memory over the course of the month during the nightly tarawiih prayers. This is a really half baked call.
Even if you find someone who claims to have memorized the entire quran but cannot write it out perfectly that doesn't mean they were lying. They might honestly believe they have it memorized when they haven't.
I do love how he managed to just sneak in his "atheism is illogical" shtick from previous calls in the midst of his rambling
If I understand this dude correctly, he is absolutely ignorant of muslims especially Arabic ones. I do know people who memorized the whole quran. I participated in competitions with people like that. It's actually pretty easy if your are devoted.
Also it's not that hard. A rap song is about 1000 words, the quran is about 78,000 words. I know many people that have memorised much more than 78 rap songs to the letter.
The guy obviously has never even thumbed through the quran. It only took me a couple of hours to read an English translation. The idea that no one could possibly memorize it is ridiculous.
This surprised me. I always pictured Quran as as long as the Bible.

But even if he was talking about the bible it's not impossible for people to memorize it
@@chocolatepancake501quran is 10% size of bible, there are more words in the four gospels than the quran.
Quran is roughly same word count as harry potter, first book, can bet that many can recite that from memory too!
Have you ever heard of photographic memory?
It is literally and demonstrably more useful to memorize the manual of my already broken washing machine, than it is to memorize even a single page of the quran.
But hey, if it kills Islam like this dude says, I'm willing to give it a shot.
