This quarantine has made me sit down and really learn about the Staghorn Fern and I have learned pretty much what I sought out to learn. I thought the brown leaf was something to get rid of but I now know that it's the root of the plant. That makes me love the plant even more. I don't think I'll ever propagate it because of the work that's involved. I still like mine in the pot instead of on the wall. Haven't seen one like this ever but now I'm glad I have one. Thanks for the information. My plant is growing wonderfully.
Hi, I absolutely must have a Staghorn Fern and mount it similar to how you did it, if you don't mind. And, the twine you used actually looks or looked(now it's months later) really good and more like straw and natural to me. Thanks for taking the time to share your tips w/us. God bless you!😇
Hi Melissa, I’m so glad you enjoyed. I’ll post an update video soon showing how much it’s grown since then! You should definitely get one, they’re quite easy growing!
So does every platycerium belong in one of those two categories? How are they sorted? What about the other 16 species? Seems kind of silly to make a fuss about it 🤷♂️

Hi Julie, that’s awesome I’m glad! Yeah they look great in pots as well. I’m sure it will do fine for you. Thanks for checking out my videos!
Looks great! I’m not confident enough to keep a mounted plant alive yet but I’ll def come back to this when I am ready to mount something!
You’ll get there. It’s not hard, as long as you don’t mind watering more often.

Nice very well explained!👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Thank you so much 😊. I learned something new. . It seems easy. Thank you 🙏
Hi Arlene! Oh good, I’m glad it was helpful. If you ever have any questions or suggestions, please share!
thanks for your info. Fern Looks great .
Thanks! Yeah it seems to be doing well. Maybe in a future video I can show the progress it’s made since I first mounted it.
Beautiful
I know the feeling of trying to control the temptation of buy flowers. I make a daily trip to the local nursery/Home Depot/Lowe's
Yes!!! It’s an addiction!! 😆
Thank you for sharing …
I need to try this with my platycerium superbum
Let me know how it works out! I need to get a superbum, they’re so amazing.
Bennet Riley I certainly will
My grandmother owned a HUGE staghorn fern when I was a kid. I have no idea what happened to it after she died.
So much better than fishing line
This looks really nice!
Msemptymind12 thank you! I’ll post an update video in a few weeks to show how it’s settling in.
I’m curious how your stag horn is doing now!
I’ll show you in my next vid! Probably filming today or tomorrow
How did this grow for you....
It’s growing pretty well! It’s hard to keep up with the watering, but it’s doing okay. I think I might post a video showing how big it’s gotten.
Try using dental floss ( non mint ) instead of fishing line ....... it’s not as sharp ???? Just an idea. Cheers
Thanks for the suggestion, I might give that a try!
Come over from...here but not . Thanks for sharing .
Oh awesome, yeah Dustin’s great. Thanks for watching!
Me, just realizing i should have used yarn rater then the polyester line i just mounted my fern with, o no
No don’t worry, I think that’ll be just fine. The yarn has its problems too. It’s hard to get the yarn as tight and secure.
@@bennetriley1988 thanks!!
Hemp fiber twine is so much better for the environment
These are elkhorn ferns not stag horns.
People use both names interchangeably. That’s just the common name anyway, it’s a platycerium bifurcatum.
@@bennetriley1988 common name is elkhorn.
Staghorns are Platycerium Superbum.
