Can you please make a video from start to finish making a Beer with this system. I'm a small homebrewer looking to upgrade to a bigger all grain herms system. I've done some research on herms but I have not been able to get my hands on a system. Or can you send me an email when you get time. Thanks Tony
Hi Tony, any chance you could publish your parts list? I have a 3 keggle system and found your video while researching a HERMS conversion. Your solution looks great and I'd love to replicate it. Thanks.
Lazy people there is everthing in his channel, just watch his videos and think a little bit ! you will have to explore everything to understand everything in brewing
I think this is exactly what I want to build. Does anyone know of a good video to start building this from scratch? I've got all the tools and 3 empty kegs.
Very nice dude! Not a expert on brewing or anything. Just looking to start and it seems like you know what you are doing... i dig the setup and would like to get to know a bit more about the process.. you mentioned that you want to upgrade the temperature probes. So if you want to... I'm quite nifty with electronics and code... maybe I can write up something for you for an arduino or something and you help explain the process that you need... so we both will win then!. We can use nice PID loops for the temperature control and timers and stuff . Drop me a mail if you want discuss...
great system. Just wondering what batch size you usually brew with it? Is 10 gallon batches easy to do with the 15 gallon capacity? Do you usually do the 14 gallon boils like you said in video?
I like this, but there were times I wasn't completely sea sick from watching the camera sway, any chance you could reshoot those more stable sections, and add even more background noise? Joking, obviously, helpful, but a little editing plz.
Why exactly are you circulating water through your HLT? Is that just to make sure that there is a uniform temperature throughout the tank? I would think that would ultimately lower the temp in the HLT.
Yes, you are using the coils in the HLT to control mash temperature. If the top of the HLT is 152 and the bottom 162, it's going to be very hard (if not impossible) to control mash temp.
I have since switched to bigger kettles and HellFire burners, but for that system they worked beautifully. There would have been no need for bigger burners. I started the boil kettle burner at about 3g runoff mark and was withing a few minutes of boil when done with sparge.

What a sweet set up.

Its pretty cook but whats the point of such a complex setup?
Great video. What is valves and silicone tubes diameter?
Very nice. Looks like my system, cheers
I've seen other people ask but no reply. Is there any chance you will post a parts list and step by step guild to the build. Amazing job btw

Wish you would have used a quick disconnect system instead of cams

Awesome job man thanks for sharing!
this looks like an amazing setup i kind of want to replicate it 600$?!??
for pumps burners and keggles and fittings?!!?

When you are recirculating, how do you make sure that the autosparge valve is open? Just set it higher and re-set it when you start the sparge?
spiveyb I set the level control arm after I have mashed in. I should be brewing later this week, I'll do a close up of how I set it.
Tony DiPlacito thanks! I just got the sparge arm. my efficiency had dropped because of my sparge since upgrading to a herms

How often do you need to turn on your HLT burner in order to keep the recirculating mash at a steady temperature?
Austin Woitte during colder months on this system I was able set the flame to maintain temperature. During warmer months, maybe every 10 minutes
what type of false bottoms do you have for your kegs?
Excellent!!!
Are these all weldless fittings?
They are.
Why exactly are you circulating water through your HLT? Is that just to make sure that there is a uniform temperature throughout the tank? I would think that would ultimately lower the temp in the HLT.
To keep the HLT from having stratified temperatures. The HLT burner fires to keep the temp constant.
Would you say that is a "must have" for a system like this?
Yes, you are using the coils in the HLT to control mash temperature. If the top of the HLT is 152 and the bottom 162, it's going to be very hard (if not impossible) to control mash temp.
Colton Ware this can be accomplished by stirring. Entirely unnecessary.
Sweet setup! Those are standard alloy kegs yea?
Ian Graham Budweiser kegs
How much system costs
What kind of false bottom do you have in your mash tun?
This system had a domed 12 false bottom. The same one I used in my cooler mash tun.
Couldn't really hear you talking
How much is ?
Building cost
hi were did u get your herms coil from
+Tyrone Nebel I bought a 50 foot roll of 1/2in on ebay, but stainelessbrewing.com has them already bent for $20 more then I paid. Go that route.
How much did this set-up cost? did you purchase all the equipment from stainlessbrewing.com?
Roughly $600. everything but the stainless steel tubing was purchased local
What size arm do you have for the auto sparge?
Standard 6" arm
Which Bayou Classic burners are you using?
Andrew Donovan these are SQ14’s
Do you like them? Do they have enough power to heat the keggles?
I have since switched to bigger kettles and HellFire burners, but for that system they worked beautifully. There would have been no need for bigger burners. I started the boil kettle burner at about 3g runoff mark and was withing a few minutes of boil when done with sparge.
How big are the new kettles?
