    Cool! Really interested in this system. It looks to have a bunch of differentiating features… certainly not another me too biab system. The Brewboss uses that central return as well, and I played around with a similar approach with my somewhat retired eBIAB system. Great video again!

    As much as I would love to have a 15 gallon batch 3 vessel system, I'm restrained by not have enough room. I currently have a Anvil foundry and love it but its coming up on 2 years now and looking to expand to 10 gallon batches. I love the fact all these manufactures are creating these compact systems. Can't wait to see the cost and xmas is coming right around the corner. 8) Thanks for showing this off.

    This reminds me of a number of ebiab systems out there (Brau Supply; Claw Hammer; Brew Boss), but with a number of Blichmann innovations and possible opportunities for those of us ebiab users to upgrade our systems. One challenge that I have had with a 10gal kettle is to get a 5.5gal batch with a higher grain bill (no sparge batches preferred). I have often thought that a 15gal kettle would be perfect.
    I’m interested in learning the realistic maximums for grain bill to produce 5.5gal into the fermenter.
    Thanks for your exciting video, Brian. Well done!

  • @JohnSchink
    @JohnSchink 2 роки тому

    I agree, Brian, that is an interesting way to mash by using a vertical pipe with holes dotted through it. I’d expect that this will improve efficiency over other BIAB type systems with the set it and forget it mantra, like Clawhammer. That makes me wonder if sparging is worth the time. 🍻🤓. Thanks for sharing this cool and shiny compact system’s first look.

    Brian, Excellent as always but I'm going to need to watch this a few more times. I know you like to keep your videos short but you went so fast I got winded and had to catch my breath, twice. 😀😂 I did like the nature background as I could hear the crickets in the background. (I grew up in the country and miss it.) I am very happy that they went for a crazy large grain basket as I get that as a concern for high abv brewers when they ask me questions about the Anvil.

      @@ShortCircuitedBrewers I'm old and it takes my mind a moment to absorb everything so I suspect younger people probably kept up without issues. I really will be watching a few more times to ensure I fully understand everything. I probably take notice to this more than most as in a previous life I was a DJ (Radio and Nightclubs) and in broadcasting school we were trained to show a lot of energy but scolded for talking too fast. Happy to see this system has a unit designed to do 5 gallon batches as I thought it would be 10 gallon minimum and up. If the probe is at the 4 g mark, then you have to brew 4G fermentor batch. Yes you can brew less but you’ll need a different temp probe which is suspended from the top to work with the commander You also have to order a custom built whrilpool arm to work on a smaller volume.

      I looked at the Anvil when it was announced but it’s twice the capacity I’d like to have. I’ve seen your DIY e-kettle along with others but was hoping for a commercial system some day. If I remember correctly, the 10 gal BoilCoil has a minimum batch size of 3 gal. Thus, placing the thermometer at that in that volume range makes sense. This system might be nice with 7.5 gal kettle for small 2.5-3 gal batches. Outside of that, I think I rather spend a little more money for the regular BrewEasy.

    Isn't dry grain in the basket a terrible way to measure how much it'll be able to hold during a brew day? Gotta account for the water somehow, and I think 20lb of grain with only a few gallons left over for water would lead to pretty awful efficiency 😂
