When I visited a Rolex boutique they asked if I wanted a catalog, I said yes of course, I expected a pamphlet, and they brought out a thick catalog with all of their modern watches, I love looking back at it, it reminds me of the happiness from when I got to view some of my favourite watches.
Hey TGV! Just to let you know that you have successfully engendered a new watch enthusiast into the community. I’d have to say I can’t believe I didn’t discover the art of horology earlier, eternally grateful! Bought a new Seiko 5 a few days ago and enjoying every angle and aspect of it. a 17 yo.
I been follow you since the beginning, i used to get a great admiration for you & your channel, now my admiration grows up significantly as you mention you love Mexico and your wife is part Mexican... my name is Ulises, London Resident...Half Spanish/Mexican... God Bless you and your Wife, Dear Tristano.
Thanks for some new book recommendations, TGV. Great timing with the holidays coming up very soon. Another one I personally like is A Man and His Watch. It's a collection of stories of the people that wore some very iconic watches over time.
Very good sir! This type of video serves well to shake things up a bit and introduces the viewer to aspects of watch collecting that most might gloss over. Cheers!
It's always a pleasure to listen to you! I love books and watches... And you gave me good ideas, not only for myself, but also for the next Christmas gifts. Thank you so much for this video. A big hug from Italy!
TGV! I just discovered you channel the other day and am now enthralled by watches and horology. I was just thinking about what to read and you drop this. Perfect timing! I am looking foward to going deeper into the hobby. Thanks mate!
I live not too far away from the city of Wells whose cathedral has a very famous mechanical clock that dates back to the 1300's and is still in working order. Elvis wore the Aztec calendar on his jump suits.
The Wristwatch Handbook by Ryan Schmidt has amazing wristwatch photography and explains all the inner workings as well as every conceived function. But I'm going to have to win the lottery to afford the watches that book made me need, like the Angelus U20 Ultra-Skeleton or Gronefeld Parallax Tourbillion...
Some great suggestions there TGV .Another great book is "Wristwatches history of a century's development" , not sure if its still in print but well worth hunting down .
I would like to see a video showing watchmaking: how they make the parts, such as the tiny screws, gears, hairprings, jewels, case and crystal, etc., then the usual brief video of the assembling process
I'm new to watches and have just bought my first mechanical, a Tissot Bucherer blue edition. Loving the channel! What's your (and others) opinion on Shinola?

Quartz tends to be hated for no good reason,Shinola has haters but who cares! And for gods sake Rolex content often kills the pig! Buy whatever at any price as long as you enjoy it. Cheers.
Smashing selection of books.. quite surprised how expensive some of these books are.. Nothing beats getting submerged into a good book!! Good stuff TGV.. 🏴✊🏻 BMJ ENGLAND
Hey TGV, I share your love of Mexico and have also traveled there extensively. My wife is from there...interesting a family heirloom from her father is a beautiful Cartier Tank from the 70's! Still loving the channel...keep up the great work and congrats again on your affiliation with Watchbox and on your move to Philly! O&U!!! Blase
Longitude is a cracking read, such a shame '50 watches that changed the world' is ludicrously expensive for some reason. Two recent and reasonably priced books I have read recently are 'A Man and his Watch' and 'The Watch: A Twentieth Century Style History'
Amazing channel! just got into watches at this level and your videos are spot on. keep it up! i truly belive there are alot more people appreciating your content than the likes and comments reveal, keep that in mind :)
Have two of these which you have previously recommended - “The magic of watches” and “50 watches that changed the World”. I think I’ll have put the Fortis one on my Christmas list this time!
Good day, Tristano. I would welcome another video with 10 books (not about horology) and another one with the 10 Cds you would carry to a desert island (just curious). Best regards from Spain!
One of our latest magazine articles is dealing with great watch books as well. I really like your selection. Some of them are completely new to me. I should check them out and write another article about it. Thanks! Best, Pascal / Editor @Chrono24
...beautiful, beautiful books...great choices TGV, with several i've been thinking about, and having seen your review, will now acquire...let me add three suggestions...The Wristwatch Handbook, The Watch:A Twentieth-Century Style History, and The Watch:Thoroughly Revised...
Hello TGV. I loved your video, but maybe you forgot two very importants and nice books: A Man and His Watch, a very nice book of stories about different people and his watches. And Omega - A Journey Through Time, that is an authentic encyclopedia of all the history of Omega. Ciao, keep on your excellent videos!
"British Military Timepieces" by Konrad Knirim - comprehensive, very well illustrated. The original text was in German and the English translations can be a little bit clunky. But it's still the best there is on the subject, in my humble opinion.
@@theurbangentry It's a real goldmine. There are so many odd little subtitles in the world of military watch collecting. For example, nearly all of the 1953 Omegas ordered by the RAF were re-dialled with tritium in the early 1960s - but a very few "escaped" this, and retained the original radium dials. If you can pick up one of those at a good price it's a slam-dunk down at the bank! (Although an anal guy like me would have some reservations about the safety of radium.)
..you know, i would second this...in this respect...as a m/c rider i wear a $25-$65 quartz, under my wrist...but i've read testimonials of m/c police officers who wear Rolexes dayin/dayout...would be fascinating to know what police/fire/men/women are wearing on the job !

Good evening TGV, great selection you have chosen. Ever since you first showed Marine Nationale, I‘m trying to get hold of a copy. Got. it on my Christmas wishlist. I guess when your into Divers its a must have 😉 Oh, and the book on Fortis watches looks very promising. Have a great evening!

Great videos, I started watching your channel recently just after I bought my first Seiko - SNK803K2 and within the next week I have bought another two new watches (Seiko SNE039P1 and Casio GA-2100-1A1ER), also I'm a proud owner of classic pocket watch 1920' Cyma Prima. You kind of introduced me in your videos to the watches and I admire your taste in watches. My idea for a video would be introduction to Casio series called Edifice, it's a budget watch. I'm wondering what's your opinion and how they look in your eyes. Keep well! Best Simon
