    This is a Motormouth couple c ar review of the all-new 2023 Range Rover First Edition, luxury SUV. We are driving the Range Rover First Edition model, made in limited numbers in the first year of production. It starts at 188,450 CAD/$164,000 USD. The Range Rover’s ride is plush, smooth and so comfortable. When you put it in dynamic mode, everything firms up but with the electronic air suspension it’s really, still set up for comfort, you feel like you are gliding down the road. The air suspension also lowers the vehicle for easy access to the cargo area. This new Range Rover has a twin-turbo 4.4 litre V8 with an 8-speed automatic transmission, 523 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. This new V8 produces 37 lb-ft more torque than the previous 5L Supercharged V8. There are eight terrain drive modes to choose from and new to Land Rover is all wheel steering which is standard on the Range Rover improving manoeuvrability. This SUV can wade in depths of 35.4” and the 3D surround camera features wade sensing, it uses sensors in the door mirrors to let you know when water levels are approaching maximum depth. The exterior of the Range Rover is clean and modern with a simple elegance including flushed door handles, a unique front bumper and five bar grille design, we are riding on 23” wheels. The interior design is elegant with an integrated 13.1” touchscreen with Amazon Alexa, 13.7” digital driver display, wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, 11.4” rear seat entertainment, a Meridian signature sound system, wireless charger, 24-way heated and cooled hot stone massage electric front seats, a centre console refrigerator compartment, panoramic sunroof and a powered gesture tailgate. Fuel economy, the Range Rover V8 gets 15.1L/100 km, 16 MPG city and 11.1L/100 km, 21 MPG highway. Wondering about electrification? The Range Rover will become the first in a series of all electric Land Rover vehicles when the full electric model debuts in 2024. The Ranger Rover plug-in hybrid is available now with 434 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque. It has an estimated 77 km/48 miles of EV range with a starting price of $135,450 CAD/$108,400 USD.

    You two really are the pinnacle of "go to" car reviews. For 40 years I have read about, purchased, sold, driven, reviewed, researched and talked about vehicles and you two just give the honest and straightforward approach any potential buyer would be needing to make an informed decision. It really takes away a lot of preliminary legwork and "weeding through" of the volume of choices one has in making a somewhat expensive and important purchase. Well done you two. Really great as per usual! Love to work with you guys sometime!

    Beautiful interiors. Owning one terrifies me. Carries on the Lucas tradition from the 70's. Wafting ride from air ride suspension that will probably cost you $15K when it breaks. If it came with a Hyundai length warranty maybe...

    Hey Andrea & Zack - Luv your reviews!!!
    For those that haven't had the pleasure of viewing one up close they truly are GORGEOUS.
    Top premium materials and Fit & Finish 2nd to none.
    I don't like the double fin on top nor the large steering wheel but other than that what a sleek SUV that can really move- 0 to 60 in 4 seconds??? WOW!!!

    Every surface of the Volvo S90 T6 AWD Inscription's interior is also wrapped in Napa leather. Even the two front seats' overhead grab handles and visors. This S90 is exactly the same size as a 7-series BMW. The sleeper luxury car in its segment.

      A Volvo will never be able to compete off road with a Range Rover. They are to different types of product aimed at different types of buyer.
      A RR buyer may live in the countryside, drive through fields, have dogs in the back, carry animal feed, tow the boat around and be driving up in the mountains and at the same time driving it to a restaurant.
      The Volvo SUV range are really nice but you have to take into account the moral aspect of owning one.

    This Rover really does look majestic, and that's what it's all about with RR. I agree with Zach about the rear end. And now I feel like such a peasant with my 22" wheels on the Defender. But those door handles would drive me UP THE WALL if I had to wait for them to come out like that every single time.

    • @arikbolrli
      @arikbolrli Рік тому

      If you hit the "unlock" button on the key fob, the handle pop right out before you are even near the vehicle. It takes longer to take the keys out of your pocket. You invented an issue that does not exist. I have a 2023 Autobiography with these door handles. Never even occurred to me that it is a problem. With the handles retracted, it makes a lot less wind noise on highway. Really, a non-issue.

    Speaking of reliability, I have had my 22 Defender for over a year now and it has had no problems. (I won't even knock on wood). I live in an area with lots of snowfall, and it just feels so composed. I hate the lack of thigh support on the seats, but that may just be on the Defender. So there, I'm no blind fanboy.

    Enjoyed your your video. When I purchased my range, with my criteria in mind, I believe there are only really two options. Lexus gx 470/lx models and the Mercedes G wagon. Although the ones presented are nice, they lack capability if one WANTED to do certain things. As I told my friend, who owns a BMW X5. My car can go everywhere yours does, but you can’t go everywhere I can go. Yes, there are Jeeps and Toyota out there that are highly capable 4x4, but I argue none will do it in the comfort of range. Once again, enjoyed the video.

      We chose 5-passenger models

    • @afellowinnewengland6142
      @afellowinnewengland6142 8 місяців тому

      You're exactly correct. No one shopping a Range Rover is looking at an X5. People shop price points, luxury and overall size not seating capacity.

    • @Jeymez
      @Jeymez 15 днів тому

      @@afellowinnewengland6142i would say it's more comparable to the GLS and X7, and Q7, XC90 in terms of seating, but you're right it's not quite that simple in the luxury space. some GLE's for example can have 7 passenger seating, others are only a 5 seater. the BMW X5 is mainly a 5 seater, i rarely see a X5 with a 3rd row. the X3 is the same story, but it's smaller like a compact.
      which at one time was their smallest offering, that was until the X1 was introduced, and the GLA 250. the Audi Q3 is pretty small, but luxury crossover vehicles have always in my opinion been a little smaller than domestic alternatives.
      that's because as you said, people don't necessarily buy them for seating, they buy it for space.
      so depending on what you need one for, the X3 for example can be used by a business person, that might need a utility vehicle, but might not need something too big.
      the Ranger Rover really is for size, but also space.
      so people with money with kids may look at one, but even people with money don't always spend that much on a vehicle, it all depends on the person.
      people who care about the badge, only want to be seen in that brand, others don't think much about it.

Secondly, when someone is purchasing a 100k+ vehicle, a service bill isn’t going to put us in the poor house. If money is an issue, shop within your means. The end

Sure. High maintenance costs? Sit down. Depreciation? Like an anchor. But NOTHING shares the well deserved presence of Range Rover. Probably nothing (other than a Bentley or Rolls) provides a more regal experience. Probably though… the worst financial decision any normal couple/family could ever make… especially used. The split tailgate is a deal killer for me. You're too far from the back when trying to retrieve anything and, if it's raining, both you and the inside of the tailgate are getting wet. It seems to be an idea that's good on paper, but not so much in real life.
