2023 Family Legacy Award: Pollack Family

The Primary Annual Event of the Seena Magowitz Foundation is its “POWER of US”. The “US” represents the collaborative collection of many. The synergy of strength combines pancreatic cancer patients, caregivers, donors, sponsors, advocates, medical advisor groups, medical institutions, hospitals, peer groups that labor everyday seeking innovative life-saving treatments and clinical trials tries to piece together the billions of pieces of discovery that eventually achieve a cure if this dreadful disease.
It also combines special people and families that dedicate themselves to achieve the goal. We are giving three special awards this evening,
The Pollack Family owns eight Babbo Italian Eatery restaurants in the Greater Phoenix area. “Babbo”
THE FIRST AWARD: THE ‘FAMILY LEGACY AWARD” GOES TO THE POLLACK FAMILY:
THE POLLACK FAMILY OWNS EGHT BABBO ITALIAN EATERY RESTAURANTS IN THE GREATER PHOENIX SCOTTSDALE AREA.
“Babbo” in Italian means “Dad”. Dad was Ken Pollack, the patriarch of the Pollack Family. Ken was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and lost the battle ion 2022. But before Ken passed, he along with his wife Charlotte and the rest of the family ran a fundraising campaign donating restaurant profits for a day. In addition, Ken Pollack and Roger Magowitz matched a certain amount. Combined, The Babbo Family raised over $105.000 in 2022.
In June 2023, Charlotte Pollack along with her daughter Taylor Shultz and the rest of the Babbo family created another campaign named “Baseball For Babbo” because of Ken’s love of baseball and avid collector of baseball memorabilia. Again, the Babbo family donated one day’s profit from all eight restaurants, plus some matching portions from the family and Roger Magowitz. “Baseball For Babbo” in 2023 raised almost another $153,868 bringing the 2-year total donation of more than $258,000.

Roger Magowitz gave the Legacy Family Award to Charlotte Pollack and her daughter, Taylor Shultz. They were joined on the stage with Dr. Daniel Von Hoff, Dr. Erkut Borazanci, Gayle Jameson, and Lana Caldwell for Memorable Photos.
