  • I wanted the today episode a bit more relaxing and satisfying to watch. To do so, I particularly worked on the video editing and captured some additional footage.🤩
    In this video, you'll see one of the computers that I found in a basement.
    A bit longer, a bit smoother, an updated intro, I really hope that you will enjoy all these improvements guys 🥰
    Kisses from France 🇫🇷

      @@french.satisfactory I think it's a good thing when creators choose to not add background music to the process, it lets the viewer choose to add their own music or just enjoy the sounds on their own (your mics are really good by the way, only the compressed can was a bit too loud at times) not adding music also helps avoiding any copyrigth issue so that's a win-win. If I was to get really nitpicky, perhaps the outro is just a bit too much of a loud contrast to the asmr nature of the rest of the video but its such a short portion it hardy damages the overall quality. We really aprecciate the effort that goes into making these long videos! It would be easy to use an overall shot of the process and call it a day, but the attention to detail really makes it stand out

    Interesting components in that PC. I'm thinking it's a budget pre-built by a smaller company? Everything is standard parts (no custom parts), but probably not a self-build because I see stickers on a bunch of components that wouldn't be there if you were to build it yourself.

    Those 775 socket machine are surely a long-timers. You've done a great job adding some years to this one. I'd bet still runing today. Replacing a thermal paste on chipsets are a good practice for motherboard of this age. Unfortunately lubing a ball bearing fans usually does nothing. Cause there is no sleeve and ball bearings are closed cased and can't be lubed. Unless it's a some chinese false-advertised ball bearing fans which actually a sleeve-bearing or a sleeve+ball bearing type. Such fans have both bearing types one after another. Usually it's a thick ones and it's not so common. Bearing type is easy to tell. Copper colored are sleeves and steel colored are ball bearings. You don't do any damage lubricating a ball bearing fans but is doesn't help em. If a ball bearing fan goes noisy, you need to replace a bearing. With another one or with a suitable sleeve.

    • @french.satisfactory
      @french.satisfactory  Місяць тому

      Interesting comment about the fans. To be honest, some people told me that in my first videos I should do it, and a very small portion are telling me that finally it doesn't make sens when I started to do it. I will make some more research about this.

    I have one more tip for you: On these push-pin coolers you should turn the push pins clockwise BEFORE pushing them in, this way they click into place with an audible and tactile click, so it's immediately obvious the heatsink is seated!

      J'ai juste une question : tu utilises quoi comme liquides pour nettoyer les ventilateurs et les lentilles de lecteur cd/dvd stp? Et aussi le liquide brun pour nettoyer en profondeur les radiateurs quand il y a de la croute de pate thermique dessus, ça m'evitera de faire des bêtises pour mes prochains nettoyages 😂😂

    • @french.satisfactory
      @french.satisfactory  10 місяців тому +1

      Pour nettoyer les ventilateurs et tout équipement électronique j'utilises de l'isopropyl alcohol. C'est un produit qui a la capacité de s'évaporer très rapidement. Pratique quand on peur de faire des courts circuits.
      Quand il y a des croutes de pâte thermique ou des stickers, j'utilise en premier du WD40 (qui marche très bien mais est un peu "gras"), donc je repasse avec de l'isopropyl alcohol pour tout bien rendre clean et évaporé.
      Pour la lentille, c'est du produit de nettoyage pour vitre que je met sur le coton.
      Je vais un peu mieux afficher les produits que j'utilise dans les prochaines vidéos. J'ai amélioré cela dans les dernières, mais c'est pas encore parfait. ✌️

      @@french.satisfactory I always enjoy your vids mate. Keep up the good work.
      Some tips though:
      1) It's recommended to replace the heat sink compound with the same material. For example you replace thermal paste with thermal paste, thermal pads with thermal pads, ectr. I'm saying this, because at some point you replaced this pink sticky substance (sorry, i dont remember what it's called) with thermal paste, wich is not recommended. I'm not gonna lie, I'm a big fan of this practice too, because it's convenient, ie you just use thermal paste on everything and you are done. But, it's not recommended. Probably, you will not face any problems (at least I haven't face any as of yet), but it's good to know nonetheless.
      2) Avoid using the air can so close to the wire plugs. Reason is that air inside the air cans is chemicaly produced and basically it's in liquid state. Using the can so close can lead to the liquid reforming and penetrating the plugs, damaging them and basically rendering them useless. A good alternative is to use it from a greater distance (5-10 cm will do), or better yet, replace the cans with "natural" air (like an electric air duster wich costs around 100€. Expensive, I know, but it will benefit you quite much in the long term).
      3) Regarding the case. From my experince I've noticed that it's quite easy to overtighten the screws. This can lead to the screwholes on the case to loosen and, as a result, everything that is attached to it move a lot. Last time I noticed that was like a year ago, when I tried to unscrew my motherboard. I had previously overtighten the nuts on the case so much that they wouldn't stay put, so when I unscrewed my motherboad screws, the nuts went of as well. Thankfully, I haven't seen you do it, but I just wanted to give you a heads up.
      Keep up the good work mon frere !

      1) You are right. When I replace the TP I had in mind that I should maybe looking for a more appropriate products. As I would like to have as best practices as possible in this channel, I will looking for it, maybe for the next video .
      2) yeah I think you are pretty right with this also (about using the cans too close) I really would like to try some electric air duster... mmmh I will try to send some emails and try to have some for free ... i guess with almost 300K cumulated views and 3K subs I can hope some companies would accept.. let's try 🤞
      3) It already happened to me in the past, but way before I made YT videos 😅

      @@french.satisfactory Yes. No need to deal with flying dust and it is a fast operation. I use a big brush that can enter in any crack. I disassemble everything first, of course. Remove battery from motherboard.
      I do not keep them long time in a basin if it is electronic component. Just spread water on it, soap and brush for short time, water again, and immediately hot air (do not keep hot air jet in one point for long time). This way one by one. A sunny day may help. :) If not, a warm room.
      Btw, Tech YES City - a youtuber around here uses washing machines, you can see his videos about it.

    I've never seen a port like that before the long blue that looks like a parallel port but I thought those are pink can someone shed some light on that if they can?

      Regarding the motherboard doc, it is a Parallel (IEEE 1284) port. I don't know why it is in blue on that one, but yeah usually it is pink. I even found only pink ports on the documentations I found on internet 😅

      Well yeah,they're usually pink but Asus had a blue theme back then and all ports had that color. Whenever you see a computer that has blue color ports on the back you know it's an Asus board without even opening the case. All DDR3 LGA 775,LGA 1155 and AM3/AM3+ Asus boards have blue colors

    You've cleaned open crystal with a cotton wool.. isn't it too abrasive for this purpose?

      Are you talking about where I clean the lent in the optical drive? or have you a timecode? I am using cotton swabs for babies so I don't think so. I never had any issue with this.

      ohhh well I never had any issue with this. And as far as I know, it's a pretty usual method. The only thing I never saw somewhere else, it's using cotton swabs for babies and I recommend this. It is softer and the cotton stays more on the stick longer. And just use isopropyl alcohol of course 😉.
