    Since you are reviewing the blade, you should have used your preferred rubbers tenergy 05 and dignics 05 to remove other factors since you used these rubbers on your tb alc. in this way as well, you could have made a direct comparison of xu xin’s blade and tb alc. putting the genesis rubbers put a question whether the difference or same feelings is brought either by the blade or the rubber. Thanks anyway and keep making videos. I love your channel. :)

    it would be better if you: compared it to other popular carbon blades of similar composition (butterfly, dhs etc), actually used the rubbers it was designed for (DHS FH at least) and had some, even brief commentary on how this is designed as a penhold blade and how that might differ from SH play.

  • @marchwu2109
    @marchwu2109 5 років тому +7

    well the blade was made for a penholder, which would need more ball feel like a all wood blade. the elasticity is rated power on the stiga website which gives the player that to play spin. thanks for the review. I, like you guys thought that the blade would be too hard, but now I think I can follow through with purchasing the blade as a penholder. would've been nice if yall tested the blade with some harder chinese rubber.
    thanks

    • @jameslivesey8322
      @jameslivesey8322 5 років тому +1

      i've thought this for a while as a penholder, but at least at high level, it seems that speed and precision is always more important than feel and spin. I feel the plastic ball more than anything is destroying the viability of penhold, so blades like this do inspire hope. have you tried the wang hao blades or hurricane series? they seem to be very unique in composition and very suited for PH play. i'm yet to try them.

    • @marchwu2109
      @marchwu2109 5 років тому +3

      @@jameslivesey8322 I'm currently using skyline neo 3 with nct intensity (xx old blade) forehand, using xiom omega 7 pro on back. My playstyle is like a wang Hao MA Lin mix heavy on backhand with strong serve and 3rd ball attack. I've tried the hurricane rub but found it to lack the touch and feel of skyline neo. I also tried it without neo and found with the skyline it's way too weak but strong tacky on serves. And I absolutely agree with u on the new ball. The plastic completely benefit shake hand hitters and makes it harder for us penhold spin varying styles to succeed.

    Judging by your vid, this setup has a ridiculously short arc when counterlooping a slow spinny opening loop. It allows some 'illegal' shots, even if the incoming ball is low and loaded with spin. The ball doesn't go long. Looks like this is the main feature of this blade - you spin and counterspin everything that moves.

    • @Zidane13893
      @Zidane13893 Рік тому

      Yes this blade is made for players WHO has long moves and for countershots ( Genesis Has very short arc but its not spinny as everything from ESN or Butterfly or Chinese top level rubbers). This blade is slow but when you put very hard rubber and a lot of booster IT is ballistic, like you said put spin on table and counterloop or block everything. Perfect choice for lazy blockers with Dignics 09 c. Hoi Dom Kem and Audrey Zarif use IT and I think IT is hella underatted blade

      I've played cpen for soon 30 years and will be changing to SH. There aren't any advantages to play cpen. But I've adapted a style which I've never seen in cpen so I have a superb backhand and a wery strong forehand.
      I put on some grip tape and hold out way longer on the handle. The BH is pure power and control.amd feels super natural. But I'm still gonna switch to SH beacuse it's more pleasent to play and don't cramp my hand to much.

    I think they dont really understand the blade when saying that hard rubbers are difficult to control with this blade. It is a chinese style blade with hard outer plies and flexible feel (what was used to be called "soft" back in the day) which is ideal for hard and tacky rubbers. Using softer rubbers as a workaround to get control of this blade is like thinking you are playing european style with a chinese style blade ... it will work, but its not ideal.

    I see a lot of stupid argument about wood hardness. at less than a 10th of an mm thickness the wood grain structure plays more rolls in the elasticity properties. The effect is accentuated a few fold in compound layers as well. just pick a few koto layer blades and non koto layer blades and measure the rebound timing in slow motion and you can argue from there per se. We are ultimately talking about the hardness 'feel' of koto layer on a table tennis blade. Not your home furniture. You can come up with so many ways to science it out with real world data.

      it's amazing. i mean, as a blossoming penholder, I have tried: some yinhe blades (good for trying out materials but not the best), analox bt 550 (my first blade All+ thin spin machine, Stiga Infinity, Butterfly ZJC, Nittaku Septear, Nittaku Acoustic and the MEO. admittedly, I use hurricane 3 on the forehand, and haven't used this on other people's blades. But by far the best for me out of the ones I have mentioned are the Septear, Infinity, Acoustic and MEO. I currently use the MEO. the septear is 7 ply and lighter, so is very effective for close to the table driving. the infinity is also light and fast, quite good at controlled, fast topspin. the MEO and acoustic being heavier and of harder material take it up a notch. I find the meo to have a very solid but in a strange way soft feel. It has a soft core but very hard outer ply. some flex but feels solid on blocking. definitely a flexy blade though compared to more extreme carbon blades, and not the best at smashing. but at hard, controlled topspin this blade excels. the feeling is fantastic (I've had two already) and it's very cheap. the intensity, which i have read was a copy of the MEO specifically for XX, is more than twice the price. before the intensity was a thing, XX used MEO. there was also a period when XX used faster Stiga all wood blades like the maple, ebony, rosewood series. but he reverted to the intensity, and played that for most of the highlights of his career. basically, XX and Ma Lin have been MEO players for a long time.

      @@solomonleung0312 yeah, i'm definitely not on your level! when I play with carbon blades compared to my MEO, i just feel there's way less feeling and way more speed, both too much for me. I usually don't see too much difference in spin though, as I think Spin is almost entirely generated by technique and rubber, with the blade only contributing to throw angle. I'm not sure if the MEO has a higher or lower throw angle than carbon blades in general. I suspect that it differs quite a bit between blade thickness, inner or out carbon, etc. but to me, the MEO is very balanced. slightly better as a looping blade than a hitting and blocking blade, but controlled, around 85g, crisp, decently fast. Also note, the Stiga Intensity is the same composition as MEO. Xu Xin used to play with MEO, and because of CNT's sponership with Stiga, Stiga introduced the Intensity for Xu Xin. I'm not sure about quality and how it plays, but the intensity is lighter and considerably more expensive. even in the plastic ball era, Xu Xin played his best TT with this all wood, MEO knock off. something to consider for us mere PH mortals.

    Can you please do a more genuine review where you talk about pros and cons and not only pros? Then these would be usefull... The way these reviews are now, everything you review is the best equipment ever, but it isnt😢

      To be totally honest I really liked this blade, I've used the stiga hybrid wood for many years and never found something which I would think about switching for and this blade is the closest thing to make me really consider changing. Obviously not suited to everyone but for me personally it's great. I'm sure other people wouldn't like it as much 👍

      @@tommaynard8101 well I'm 2 years behind. But I also use the stiga hybrid wood and it's their best blade ever. Such power and control in the same blade and it's ridiculous. Used tenergy 05fx on FH and tibhar short pips on BH. Cpen player but switching over to SH and looking for a blade which is similar to my hybridwood but why is it so expensive? It's a blade for God's sake.

    Koto, like Limba, is not a hard wood! They are both on the medium to soft side of wood.

      xxxTheWildRedxxx Koto is a hard wood for table tennis blades for sure. Limba is definitely softer.

      @@fedor6595 I am building table tennis blades since more than 15 years. I do have many different Limba and Koto veneers at home. Whenever I look into wood databases they show comparable physical properties for Limba and Koto.

      @@xxxTheWildRedxxx hi thanks for your comment, I find koto wood to be quite a lot harder than limba actually. Which blades do you find similar where one is using limba a the other using koto?

    • @xxxTheWildRedxxx
      @xxxTheWildRedxxx 5 років тому

      @@TableTennisDaily I was talking about the properties of wood here and not about how table tennis blades feel. I know that it is possible to build blades that feel hard using Koto outer.
      However you keep on saying in your reviews that Koto is a hard wood. That is just not true. You could just read about it in any wood databases that you can find in the web.

    • @fedor6595
      @fedor6595 5 років тому +1

      xxxTheWildRedxxx no offence but koto has a 25% higher hardness rating than koto on the Janka scale and when it comes to table tennis blades this is hugely significant. A table tennis ball is extremely light after all. Koto is also a known tropical hardwood. It’s obviously not a very hard wood but it’s much harder then limba when you’re talking table tennis blades and that’s what’s important here. So to sum up it’s 25% harder than limba and koto itself is defined as a hardwood.

    Which has more control carbonado or dynasty carbon? Dan mentioned that the dynasty is faster . Which of these two can generate more spin?

    • @solomonleung0312
      @solomonleung0312 5 років тому +1

      Definitely dynasty. Yes, surprisingly they blade feels like a wooden blade with extremely great feeling and control. However, its speed is still as fast as the carbonado 290. Speaking of spin, due to its wooden feeling, dynasty can generate a lot of spin when serving or pushing backspin.

      @@solomonleung0312 have you played with the carbonado series of blades? Since they have limba outer plies compared to koto on dynasty carbon .I thought carbonado should have more dwell and provide more spin? Your thoughts?

    • @solomonleung0312
      @solomonleung0312 5 років тому

      narendran ramakrishnan I have tried Carbonado before. I am sure that Dynasty has a longer dwell time. Yes, Dynasty indeed has a harder koto outer wood layer, but at the same time it uses the newer textreme+ carbon layer. The carbon feel is not as strong as carbonado, but with the same speed. So i think it has more spin as well.
