Have to confess, becaus of a sleepless night I binged watch your entire vlog starting with the “why we live off grid”. Let me say that I really enjoyed the humorous blooper footage as well as others have. 😂 The first thing I noticed was the beautiful setting of your 10 acres; a piece of paradise for sure. Immediately the northern ( in Southern Idaho here) climate looked perfect for all the usual cold crops: leafy lettuces, cabbage, kale, collards, spinach, arugula, potatoes, onions, peas, carrots,, beets, radishes, turnips, broccoli, and cauliflower. And it appears you get some rain in summer so not an arid part of Alberta. 😊 Cold crops are so welcome after a long winter, and would complement your frozen meal recipes. Just one heads up, from this old timer, as you guys get organized the the prepared homesteader is always working on ‘next years’ wood. It is a secure feeling to have several years worth of firewood. I have a feeling you already know that though. Your pup Molly is really growing. Peace
Yes we’ve got some of those crops in the garden now and hope to expand next year. And yes, firewood is a huge priority! My husband is working on it constantly and he had a wood stove growing up so has been through it all many times. Thanks for watching and commenting, we so appreciate it!
Did you do any gardening at your old place? Molly looks so happy. Love seeing your puppy! The Canadian geese are so loud! I love your outdoor furniture set up! Do you find yourself more aware of the weather because of your new lifestyle?
Yes, we had a garden, but that was mainly my sister-in-law's thing. She's been gardening for years so knows a lot more. I helped with it a little. We also had a garden at my in-law's place last year, but we only grew onions, corn and potatoes so it was super easy. There's so much more I want to grow and managing a lot more vegetables and flowers in my garden this year feels a little overwhelming. But I always think, there's not much to lose if you just throw a few seeds in the ground and give it a go! I was pretty aware of the weather in the city, but yes, I'm definitely more aware now. My power supply depends on it!
YOU CAN DO IT! I raised 3 kids alone, at the age of 21 I left my husband and headed out on my own. WE ARE STRONG!
