I live in Hershey Pennsylvania, right across the street from the Reese's peanut butter cup factory. We have a Hershey Park, Hershey chocolate world a Milton Hershey School for children, and a Milton S Hershey medical center. All due to the man who invented the Hershey kiss and the Hershey chocolate bar. Yes sometimes the air does smell like chocolate.

as an american and a former baker, i can confidently say that sugar cookies (here) are not like shortbread at all. two very different cookies for us.
I always enjoy how even Dermot, who usually wallows proudly in being a cynical, growly, old man, brightens whenever paired with ebulliant, effusive, spritely fairy Callyann. She is such a delight. (And, c'mon, Demot's actually a darling, lovely teddy bear of a man.)

Americans don’t consider Hershey to be quality chocolate. Although most of us ate the milk chocolate as children. So it’s more nostalgia than anything.
It's kind of like McDonalds chicken nuggets, You can crave them and no other nugget will do if you want McDonald nuggets because they are just different. Hershey is just it's own thing...
I'm still very partial to the kisses.
I like the chocolate on s'mores and I do like the kisses. GOOD chocolate however is...often European.

Birthday cake flavour is specifically Funfetti cake, which isn't just sprinkles but has a vague buttery vanilla flavour as well

If you google it, "birthday cake flavor is typically vanilla with added notes of sugar and butter, making it one of the sweetest flavors. It can also include sprinkles and frosting." it's artificial vanilla, artificial butter, and artificial sweetener - often with sprinkles which are just colored artificial sweetener and so it's all gross. It may have Funfetti vibes for the OP, that's fine. But it's also a (likely) trademarked name owned by Pillsbury so other companies like Hershey can't just use that name.

Seamus' sad birthday story was oddly specific.
Chocolate World is a big candy store and restaurant. There is also a dark ride that shows you how chocolate is made. Next door to Chocolate World is Hershey Park which is full fledged amusement park with lots of great Roller Coasters, and other fun rides.
My dad took my sister and I to Hershey Park back in 1973. I was 11 and she was 8, so too short to ride the coasters. But they had a pavilion there with rides that had to be from the 1920's and 30's. My favorite one was these giant wooden spinning bowls that were sunk into the ground and you would roll into them and be spun around like pinballs, smacking into other riders and we'd all end up laughing hysterically. I'd never seen any rides like the ones in that pavilion. Probably because they were old, but I enjoyed those the most. The bumper cars were fun too.
So... you say a dark ride that shows how chocolate is made and my brain immediately goes all Willy Wonka, lol! I seriously need to go there!

in PA, we have Hershey Park and yes it has rides and yes it is fun.

@xxpensxx yes, it's outside the park. That said, it has become more than just a store. There's a ride, a bunch of different shows, and chocolate themed activities. I do agree about the town Mafia bit 😄

This video is a clear indication of why some of us are very adamant that "white chocolate" is not chocolate.
Well, it does contain cocoa butter but no cocoa solids, and also sugar and milk, so it is a confection(?). But not chocolate, agreed

Per FDA regulation it isn't. To label something "chocolate" the product must contain coco butter and cacao. White "chocolate" is just the coco butter plus milk and sugar.

Of course there is a theme park. Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. I went there a couple of times as a kid.
To me, birthday 🎂 cake flavor is a combination of vanilla, almond, & sweet rainbow sprinkles.. 🎉
Anytime I see white chocolate on this channel, I think of the time a fan sent Lolsy all that white chocolate.
I have even told someone, in-person, that on the food tasting channels I watch on UA-cam, out of say, 10 tasters, one doesn't like chocolate. But she likes white chocolate. Losly likes white chocolate.

I think it's interesting how often mint flavor is equated to toothpaste to our Irish brothers and sisters. Did we get more mint flavored candies here in the US as children? I've never heard an American make that observation about mint. Also, cotton candy is vile, and I cannot imagine what flavor Hershey's thought it should be other than pure sugar.
American here. Mint belongs exclusively in toothpaste and breath mints. It’s too powerful a flavor and will foul everything it touches. 🤷🏼♀️
I too live about 45 minutes from Hershey, PA. But i haven't been to the park in over 25 years. Interesting they mentioned it would be good as ice cream, as Hersheys has their own line of ice cream.

When Irish people seem to be unaware that white chocolate does not taste like milk or dark chocolate......even though they have white chocolate in Ireland. Make it make sense.
If I ever get to visit Ireland, on my to do list is to taste the chocolate, so I can taste the difference.

Yes any cake could be had for a birthday. Heck you could have a giant cookie for your birthday (I have). But the most common, standard, would be a yellow cake with white frosting.

Family members have been to the Hershey museum. It sounds like visitors should be mindful of their chocolate intake, as most of them did not make it through the day without significant intestinal distress... which lasted for days. Your experience may vary.

I watch a lot of Swiss Chocolate makers and their videos on how they make chocolate. Its all about conching. Europeans
conch it to the Nth degree which is why Lindt is so creamy and utterly glorious. I don't think most if any American chocolate
companies conch their chocolate like the Europeans do.
in my books, Lindt is far down on the (European) chocolate list, but I might be in the minority on this. I don't even like it. I prefer a lot of other brands: Cote D'or, Ragusa or Schogetten
Yeah birthday cake is a particular flavor, white cake with buttercream icing and it has to have a hint of melted candle.
how salted caramel works is one of my favorite trivia things that i know XD
you can google and find articles and studies, but the short version is that salt blocks the bitterness receptors on the tongue, which makes things sweeter if there was any bitterness in it, working especially well with caramel since the sugar is cooked and might start to taste just barely burnt so it can have a touch of bitter taste in it :D
this is also why i put salt in my tea instead of sugar!
