Take it from me, all the way in Canada: Put the Jos Louis in the freezer. They won't freeze all the way, and they're delightful in the summer. The proper way to eat a Passion Flakie is take it apart, eat the top upside down and the bottom right side up. Trust me, I'm an expert.
"Cleanup on isle gee." is one of the most Irish jokes I've seen on this channel and I cackled particularly loud. Hearing Colin scream laughing in the background made it even more funny. XD
I wish I could say the same. However, they did not acknowledge the Québécois a single time, even though Vachon cakes are deeply rooted in our history and popular culture.
These cake are from my town in Quebec Canada, les petits gâteaux Vachon were born in Sainte-Marie de beauce! During the summer time the hole town smells sweet. This is a great review guys 🤗
Its wonderful eh? I am from Peterborough, Ontario (where rolled oats were first created!) and there is a Quaker Oats factory, so the town smells like oats, popcorn, cereal, and other baked goods depending on the day. Very occasionally there would be a burnt smell though haha But its worth it with all the other wonderful smells. :)
Hi Roe Pau, I am from Ste-Marie as well, and yes, I can remember the smell of chocolate and jam (Produits Diamant) during the warm summer days. I’m a Canadian, I live in Cork….was home for the first time in 3 years a few weeks ago.I came home with a box of Jos Louis, and ah caramels! This video makes my heart happy! Vachon cakes are probably full of shite that will cause weird health issues in later life, but god… the instant gratification is Sooooo worth it! Edit: I grew up around the corner from a vachon distribution center, my dad used to go there on a Saturday to get the boxes of “not fit for distribution” which was boxes that were marked, or squished… how I don’t have type 2 diabetes is amazing to me!!!
The fact that I am actually seeing other people enjoy a flakie as much as I do validates everything I had to defend growing up. I think I can die complete now.
Biscuits Leclerc and now Vachon! As a Quebecker, I am spoiled! I find it funny that they think the Jos Louis is big, because I remember a time when they were even bigger. By the way, the name of that cake is simply the names of Joseph Vachon's two sons: Joseph (abbreviated as Jos in French, but pronounced the same way as Joe) and Louis. I won't refuse one if offered, but I much prefer the May West, which looks like the Jos Louis, but with vanilla cake and a pastry cream filling. And yes, it was Mae West at first but they changed it for May West after her death to avoid being sued by the succession. I also like the Billot/Log, but I prefer the maple version. I find Ah! Caramels (which will always remain "carrés aux caramel" to me) a bit too sweet.

Paul, that's why you're not supposed to play with your food. Dermot and Justine...... I loved it but I can't comment, too many witnesses. I did like hearing laughter from behind the camera this time. I think we may need to submit William for sainthood. Needs three miracles you say..... 1) Justine cried from joy. 2) almost everything was liked by everyone, getting Tryers to agree is a miracle. 3) Dermot smiled, laughed, and had a great time and alcohol was not provided. Well Done William.... Well Done.
I totally agree
They may shoot multiple segments in one day. Alcohol could have very well been involved at some point in the day lol
Dermot was probably thrilled there wasn't any peanut-butter snacks thrown at him lol
🤣🤣☠ when you see his reaction to when he dropped it ✌🤟🤙💚
and then Paddy gave half of his. Good lad!
Justine deserves this after enduring all the Durian
There hasn't been enough durian for a while - we need more.
trondeg74 I like the way you think! Singapore, step it the fuck UP!
Glad you wonderful people enjoyed our very own Quebecois cakes.
"Sure. I need one too." *napkin in lap*
My favorite TRY Channel moment yet. I'm dying over here.
I don't know how I missed that the first time but I laughed so hard this time around!
Kudos to Dermot and Justine for making me cackle with laughter. 😂
And kudos to Dermot for shoving that whole cake in his mouth without gagging. He must make George a very happy man 😁
My favorite Irish Try vid ever.
"I've never known joy like this before." Evidently Dermot hasn't either...
I've watched this like 5 or 6 times and it cracks me up every time
Vachon is from my province of Quebec ! Always good when you need a big sugar fix !
Even have some Vachons in my direct family lol !
As a Canadian I feel l need to send Justine a box of cakes to help with Durian PTSD
When Justine Dermot and ... I think Sean (behind camera) were all laughing hysterically I couldn't help but think how close they must have become on their trip to Florida. Huge smiles and laughing with you. Thanks to you all❣❣
I think that was actually Colin, but definitely hilarious, and that Orlando trip sounded like a ton of fun.
@@kracker675 Yeah that’s definitely Colin’s laugh.
Listen to their podcast The Substantial Meal, it's even better.
Dermot and Justine together = comedy GOLD
Listen to their podcast The Substantial Meal, it's even better.
Take it from me, all the way in Canada:
Put the Jos Louis in the freezer. They won't freeze all the way, and they're delightful in the summer.
The proper way to eat a Passion Flakie is take it apart, eat the top upside down and the bottom right side up.
Trust me, I'm an expert.
Noooo out the flakie in the oven and serve with vanilla ice cream trust me.
And then enjoy your cavities.
@@KarleneAlyssa OOOOH ok that sounds incredible. I'll have to try that!
And send my dentist a sympathy card. 😂
I dont think Ive ever eaten an intact Flakie. Top always has to come off. I want to try that oven thing now though.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who does this! @jenidactyl
I’ve never been more proud as a Canadian to hear them lose their minds over my country’s cake treats
As a french canadian(where Vachon cakes are made), I feel so proud!
Person that sent these,"please make Canadian jokes"
Try group"make dirty jokes"
Canadian viewers" close enough"
Canadian being "Sorry they are to good to joke about. Eh!" 😅😅
"Cleanup on isle gee." is one of the most Irish jokes I've seen on this channel and I cackled particularly loud. Hearing Colin scream laughing in the background made it even more funny. XD
I was super heckin confused on why that was so funny but figured I just missed a joke in another video
I'm not Irish and that joke really went over my head 😭
Care to explain for us non-Irishmen? 🤪
I looked it up and "gee" is Irish slang for a vagina.
I'm not Irish either, but just happened to know the slang for vagina. XD
OMGGGG the moment when the hot silver fox guy gives Irish Jesus a bit of his cake roll to make him happier was absolutely lovely.
' I've never known joy like this'....thanks guys, that video made me so proud to be Canadian! Had to get an Ah Caramel box afterwards!!
I wish I could say the same. However, they did not acknowledge the Québécois a single time, even though Vachon cakes are deeply rooted in our history and popular culture.
Wish I could in the states.
“NO BUT DERMOT!, CAN YOU IMAGINE IT?” That shot got me laughing.
Is this the most dermot has ever laughed at one time? I'm glad my home country can give you all so much joy. Keep ur stick on the ice Ireland!!
I fell in love with Justine all over again in this video!! 😂 Also, Justine and Dermot need to be paired together more often, loooove it
Listen to their podcast The Substantial Meal, it's even better.
Seriously though these are a staple of Canadian kid lunch bags. I'm so happy that for the most part you were impressed with Vachon cakes.
I lived in Peterborough for 4 years for university and I never smelled what you were smelling :/
Hi Roe Pau, I am from Ste-Marie as well, and yes, I can remember the smell of chocolate and jam (Produits Diamant) during the warm summer days. I lived 2 km southeast of the plant, so with a good westerly wind, we could smell it. My favourites are still the Mille-Feuilles, and the Ah Caramel cold with a glass of cold milk !! Salut.
@@Oslolumi hahaha that awesome ☺
@Roe Pau: do you think Celine Dion ate this Canadian confection when she was young!?! She is from Quebec I think
As a fellow Canadian, I love the selection of snack cakes William gifted you guys. My cheeks are hurting from smiling so much 😁
As a french canadian i wonder why they didnt try the May West cake they are the best in my book and the Billot à l'érable (Maple Log) are the best roll cake too.
Oui! C'est exactement ce que je me disais aussi.
@@davestudio Je m'attendais a un deep'n'delicious gateau McCain!
May West >>>>>> Joe Louis
Les demi-lune sont bon aussi !!!!
Jos Louis from my childhood in New Brunswick... a piece of Heaven!
paddy sharing with irish jesus after he lost some of a good snack was the cutest. quality friend 👌🏽
*Paddy
Ghost_Hands already fixed it, autocorrect got me 😭
Ya finally had some Jos Louis! As a Canadian, I cannot trust anyone who doesn't absolutely adore them. They are their own food group, essentially lol. Justine & Dermot are priceless! You guys are definitly welcome to come to Canada anytime!
Same goes for the Ah! Caramel for that matter. I seriously imported boxes of both of those every month after moving to the US because I couldn’t live without them.
Let that be a lesson kids. Sugar causes uncontrollable laughing fits.
I'm crying of joy 🥺 I'm SO SO SO happy that many of yoy guys ADORE the best cakes EVER ! I'm a canadian (from Quebec), and i'm so proud of our country for one of the reasons: THIS !!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤ Canada loves you !
I haven't tried any of these... But Coffee Crisp is my favorite candy bar in the world. Be proud of that too, my northern friend 🙏❤
@@c0athanger I'm so proud of you, dear friend❤️
@@AlexxeMJFAN thank you 😭 I didn't know I needed to hear that you wonderful human. Love your pfp btw ♥
@@c0athanger You make me smile (and almost cry), buddy 🥹! Also, thank you so much, i made it myself❤️
We have many treasures like that in Canada. I'm French Canadian and I'm near from the place they create thoses cakes. "La Beauce".
We say in french :
Les Gâteaux Vachon, c'est de La Beauce,... de chez nous!
Irish poeple are very important in our story. We love you all 🇨🇦💙🇮🇪
Soyons fière d'être beauceron 💪
Faut arrête de dire French-Canadian... mais plutôt Québécois. On n'est plus dans les années 50!

I'm Canadian Quebecois, my favorite cake is Ah Caramel in the freezer !!! ; )
FLASH - BANG so good frozen!
I am from the Kawarthas area of Ontario and we also put the Ah Caramels in the freezer! I feel as though someone is not a true maple-syrup blooded Canadian if they don't do that! haha
Freezer is a must, and then eat them with a glass of cold milk for best effect! (Assuming of course you like milk in the first place)
Any of these were amazing frozen!
French-Canadian also mon gars!!
3:05 - Durmont's face is PRICELESS!! OMG I can't breath!
Emotional Justine is what puts this video over the top! Dermot as her support makes it perfect.
I'm glad someone finally managed to get some Vachon cakes over. Every time I've bought some with the intent of sending a package, my daughter and I ate them before I could send them on their way
😂😂😂 that tracks
If you don't like passion flakies there's something wrong with you😮😂❤
The disgusting dense grease coating they leave in your mouth is off-putting.
@@looneygardener it goes well with a big glass of cold milk to cleanse the palate:-) :-) and I've never noticed a dense grease coating
@looneygardener Is the greasey feeling new? Haven't had one in like a decade, but don't remember them being greasy.
“I’ve never known joy like this!” 😂😂😂
“I’ve never known joy like this!” - a teary-eyed Justine
You missed the ''Mille Feuille''... These are the best.
HighGamer amazing!!
They also missed the May West in my opinion! 🤷🏼♀️
Mille Feuille aren't Canadian though
You mean the passion flakies/flakies/gateau napoleons?
@@ChappersLaNoCry In Canada, mille-feuille is often named gâteaux Napoléon or Napoleon slice. It is sold either with custard, whipped cream, or both, between three layers of puff pastry; almond paste is the most common filling. In Canada, it can also be made with graham crackers instead of puff pastry and pudding instead of the the custard layer. This is unique thing in Canada.
Dermott and Justine at the end.... They had ME in tears laughing and I didn't even understand what Dermott said!
And they didn’t even try the May West! And the Demie L’une... Ahhh Vachon! Pride of Quebec (not even sure they have them elsewhere in Canada!).
We have them in Ontario. I personally can't eat them anymore, but I love Vachon! Especially the festive log cake 🤤
@@valeriemcdonald440 The festive log! OMG, I could eat a whole one myself!
@@mr.grumpy Yep, while using the little plastic axe as a utensil lol
I'm still able to find some in Ontario groceries store but can't say for anywhere else.
vraiment triste, pour eux hehehe
I find it amazing how people really love our snacks. They're all my favorites that you showed today. 🇨🇦💯🇨🇦
The entire time I was waiting for a peanut butter one to ruin Dermot's day. Him and Justine were having a blast in this episode.
Dammit...you beat me to that comment.
As a Canadian, this made me incredibly happy lmao 🥰🇨🇦🍁 Love you guys!
When we were little our grandma used to buy jos Louis for us and it was awesome
Is this an eastern canada thing. Never saw it out and about around winnipeg.

Just moved to Canada from the UK so I now have my cakey shopping list. Another awesome video folks - Keep up the good work.
PS Dermott and Justine are the best duos on these vids. Perfection!
Welcome friend, hope you like it :)
Justine: Inspired rudeness. Possibly your best Try yet. How moist were those cakes? Very moist indeed. Ah, caramel.....
I love Justine, she can hang in there with sex jokes with the best of them and not get offended. Sometimes a joke is just a joke to get a laugh. Thanks for making me laugh, that's a gift this day and time.
Years and years ago when I was in school my mother used to give me 25cents to buy milk at lunch. Never did....bought a Jos Louis :-)
I have been to St. Marie de Beauce, a bit south of Quebec City, where Vachon produces their stuff. You can smell sugar from three or four blocks away. They get sugar in by the railway car load.
Since first watching this video a couple weeks ago, I've watched it several times a day ... I just LOVE Dermot & Justine. Puts me in a great mood every day! Thank you
Little know fact - Passion Flakie used to have a version where instead of the apple raspberry filling they used the same caramel that is in the Ah Caramel. Now that was good.
We still have it here, my grandpa always buys one apple raspberry and one caramel, I live in Montreal
@MG Stevens well that is just sad!!
Watching you guys enjoy our cakes brought me so much joy! Good job William for thinking of this!
Who else came here from Justine losing it from the durian?
Haha yeap
Yup right here.
me three
Same
Feels like there should be a Justine supercut of the two of these things together. Her highest highs and lowest lows.
The fact that I am actually seeing other people enjoy a flakie as much as I do validates everything I had to defend growing up. I think I can die complete now.
😂
passion flakie stans unite !!!!
Dermot and Justine is the best duo! This laugh party is gold!
