I'm so out of touch I didn't realise TBE 5.1 was possible, thought the masters were still lost. This news has made me Stupidly Happy. And I love the interview, although the memories of shopping catalogues I could best leave buried...
Thanks Andy I saw you fellahs twice. Those were unforgettable concerts, both in Ontario Canada. Your songs stand in a distinct category of brilliance, originality and relevance. I probably enjoyed English Settlement the best. But Go2 was literally the second new wave record I bought, after Nick Lowe's Pure Pop for Now People. My third was Talking Heads 77. And so it went. Love your music. Thank you. Blessings to you and the rest of your artistic collaborators.
My pleasure! The 2022 interview should be released here in a month or so after the Convention does whatever they're gonna do with it. I've already edited to a final cut.
Ha cool, and don't miss the other convention stuff I've edited & liberated: Terry Chambers q&a John Leckie Dukes interview Neville Farmer (XTC Song Stories) interview Fuzzy Warblers w/ Dan Barrow concert They're a bit spread out in playlists but once I can release the AP 2022 chat I'll add them into one all-encompassing Convention playlist.
Would be great to hear these Xmas songs! In an album. I miss the catchy punk rock new wave style of old. I was so lucky to see xtc live at the Hammersmith odeon. 😌
Andy is brilliant and extremely underrated! I hope in this lifetime that I will see him in concert. I know it's wishful thinking but I have Optmism's Flame. 😎
Bucket list will not diminish because I don't believe I'll ever see this band. EXTC was good - missed out on seeing this band when I could've. Got Andy to sign my goalie glove on LI, but missed the show. A true musician, artist - brilliant song writer.
I heard the Monkees album without knowing Andy had wrote 'You bring the summer'. When I listened to it I thought, this sounds a bit like 'Dear Madam Barnum' - nothing wrong with that though. Andy Partridge is one of the best British song writers we have and I love the bloke.
loving these Wiltshire accents . 25 o clock is unbelievably groovy & it’s being included in Austin Powers movies would’ve done it justice by giving it the serious exposure it deserves. 😁❤️
Cool I appreciate the thanks, I'm a massive XTC fan and basically rescued this interview from the trash because I still had the unlisted link (and a channel to distribute it on). Everything I put out was either created original by me or archived for people to enjoy. As a result my channel has lots of unrelated variety found in playlists accessed from the main page. Bad for popularity but who cares, I'm here for love not money. I have a John Leckie Dukes & XTC interview posting shortly, plus another Andy interview coming much further down the road (I've been requested to hold off on it for awhile). Anyways there's lots of XTC stuff to peruse: custom music vids, Terry Chambers panel, Neville Farmer Interview (also rescued from the trash)...The Fuzzy Warblers concert is real good btw, I edited it from two separate feeds and real proud of the result.
My (12-year old) daughter got Nonsuch on vinyl for Christmas and I have to admit, the new vinyl pressings sound fantastic. I'm certainly tempted by a new pressing of Oranges and Lemons-my copy is pretty played out at this stage.
Googled Andy’s question at the end regarding palm-reading. Having a single line through the middle of your hand means you are driven to success, and/or strongly independent.
The UK truncated English Settlement was my first CD back in 1984/5, and I didn't even have a player. My girlfriend's father had one, so I was over there playing the cd when he wasn't there. Oh the memories.
That's a major issue I have with the likes of Twitter, Facebook, etc. They have the potential to suck brilliant minds into a world of idiocy and petty grievances. Stay focused, Andy. Stay brilliant. Ignore this modern day garbage and create.
It would be cool if they ever find the original master to English Settlement and Steve Wilson gets a chance to remaster it that they can include all the b-sides too because there are great b-sides from that album like “Heaven is Paved With Broken Glass and “Blame The Weather”
@@kevinrice70 yeh, they are on Beeswax too which I own on vinyl, but it would still be nice to see them on a Steve Wilson remastered version of English Settlement if they can find the master tapes.
dang it, andy, that was fun, on the twitter, when we talked briefly, about the guitahs, the bass, and what not... but yeah, some people are too popular, and then it's hardly much fun when you get mobb'd and they pull't all yer hair out, eh? sorry about that, - don't look at me, mate, haha~
Yep Terry's still playing with the band EXTC, I've seen them three times and always good! I have a recent interviewish type video if you'd like to hear him tell good stories: ua-cam.com/video/Xc38Xe6yG64/v-deo.html
@@BlackRoomProductions I'm actually seeing EXTC tonight in Detroit (my second time)! Was revisiting XTC music videos when I came across this interview. Enjoyed it!
Ahh I understand now very cool! Maybe we've crossed paths before in some of the XTC groups like Chalkhills, Andy Partridge Appreciation, XTC Convention, etc. I'm not on social media nowadays but always active offline (or here) as an XTC fan!
Andy, please send me some of your “rubbish”. I currently have 36 US dollars saved or I could trade you my Santa on a rocket ship toy. I promise to not do anything you would do to them. If I have a hit I also will not send you any more money just like a real record company.
Don't forget The Big Express 5.1 coming soon, plus Andy / Colin / TC&I's latest EPs. All can be found here: burningshed.com/

@@jinjagohst lol even Andy laughs at the catalogs. TBE 5.1 was confirmed by Andy in a 2022 interview that unfortunately I can't release yet.
@@BlackRoomProductions are you serious??
Yep came directly from Andy's mouth in the 2022 Convention interview but I'm not allowed to publish yet per Convention request.
@@BlackRoomProductions aggh I can't wait, I miss the reissue series so much
Andy is an eccentric genius and a true original.
I don't see him as eccentric, just intelligent and able to see through the ordinary BS that 99% of people buy into.
XTC's timeless, melodic, rhythmic, provocative music is a gift that keeps on giving.
Thanks Andy

3 Clubmen EP - amazing and can’t stop listening to it.
Andy is brilliant. If all he ever did was write Easter Theatre, that would have been enough ❤️ wish this band would reunite for another album.
Brilliant song

Thanks for putting this out there!
np Tom been wanting to do it for awhile but only now had the time
Thank you sir!

Good twitter analysis Andy. Our species is doomed. But anyway, thanks for the music.
Lol yep
Seen xtc in 70s in Tonypandy before they were big ,then we went to Swindon and supported them with solid air
Where did they play in pandy?? That's unreal

Totally agree about the sound quality of the Yellow Submarine songtrack album. Nepotism is very difficult to overcome.

A wonderful chat!
Only human who dared to have a go of Apples & Oranges and nicely done too. Still think a bubblegum band lp would have been cool.
He's right about the CD length thing.
On the shortest list of giants of songwriting
i love this
Andy always brightens the room
I really miss XTC, I was so disappointed (no pun intended) that they just dissolved and faded away into history.

"The Other Nines" would be a nice title for his compilation of rejected songs.
This is one of them performed live by fans at the XTC Convention: ua-cam.com/video/VGztXCmmHdU/v-deo.html

Yes, certain organised groups of people are a little bit touchy about ill-informed slander with its source in the christian church.
