Interesting how he turns on the people who gave him his fortune - the fans. I have news for him. Music has always been pirated by being copied either by casette tape or other means. The music industry killed the goose by allowing the mp3 format to be the method of delivery which is much more easy to distribute en mass as a pirate. And older people stopped buying because the industry kept changing formats all the time - records, 8 track, cassette, CD. Mp3 the last straw. They are still making money just not as much. Dont let them fool you.

It's a shame, because I absolutely (ed) love XTC!!! They are one of the most under rated bands from England that is not known......It sucks, ya know it's kinda true, they say watch out if you happen to meet one of your fave musicians, (ya know, movie stars, sports players, any person or plural of them, which is someone's or even yours kinda heroes if ya like) although I don't really consider myself a groupie by it's basic definition , however when I met Johnny Marr at SNL I felt like a little kid who had just met his favorite baseball player which he had on his baseball cards at home!.........What I'm trying to say is, watch out what ya wish for, but in this case the guy was cool, and I met him when he was touring with Bryan Ferry, free from the stranglehold of Mr. Mo, He was seemingly very happy and psyched, probably not had been the same way after so many years of success, but having to deal with Mr. Smith himself was it seems getting to be torturous I imagine! I was to gusshed to ask him any smith's questions! I didn't want to be the one to bum him out before he went on stage to play live with Mr. Ferry! Anyway, like I was saying, love XTC! Love em! love em! love em! So when I was told that uncle Todd was gonna produce these guys it was what I thought gonna be awesome! Well, as most know who are knowledgeable of the ridiculous saga, It basically came down to this: Todd saved XTC's ass, and Andy will never admit it! To this day I have heard, Andy still think's "Dear Gawd" is a shite song and that Todd's final mix was crap is just sour grapes there Andy my boy! "Dear God" was actually banned! from being sold in England at first! No one talks about that!? Weird right? Yup, it was pulled from the LP by the censors! Bastards! I'm sure that made Andy smitten, but Todd had his revenge when it was put out as the B-side of "Grass"! OK Andy, you might still not like Todd's awesome job, but it sure did pay the bills, no? But really, XTC was and still is awesome and will always be one of the greats in brit rock! By the way, sorry about what happened to ya Andy! Jeez! Kicking benzo's and thinking he was gonna ride it out and nothing was gonna happen to him? He could of died! His idiot girlfriend almost ended him and didn't know how badly she effed up! You can go into seizures and it's all over bro! Also what ever happened at his home, dude! I'm really sorry for what you have endured! I just hope yer better and life is cool at this point! Right? XTC was always so underrated, and even more so when they stopped playing live. A real shame that Andy couldn't have continued touring so they could expose the band to more potential fans. I've read this was one of the main reasons Terry left. A bunch of super talented musicians with brilliant music that never caught on with the mainstream success that they deserved. I love that Terry is still out there playing!❤

XTC is the greatest band people don’t listen to.

I have to admit, I had only discovered them with The Big Express -which was to me a revelation at that time. It took a bit longer for me to aprreciate Skylarking. I do remember the LP standing for quite some time in "later" batch near my hifi set after first hearing. Over the years it became one of my favourite in their rich oeuvre. It is of tragically poetic that their stylings never caught on quite the way they would have deserved - but we should be thankful they stuck around for that extended amount of time to leave us with the kind of catalogue we can now look back on. Others might have given up much sooner being jerked around by record company and manager.

So there's at least two sides to every story. For the longest time, I ate up the version of Andy Partridge he propagated for quite some time: that Rundgren had "taken hostage" the recordings and the band was appaled to be excluded after the recording. More and more, I come to think that Rundgren is the best thing that could've happened to them at that point in their "career". Skylarking borders on 'overproduced' - but it never tilts over to that side. Just a slew of fantastic songs with dense, magnificent arrangements.
