My only problems with thermostats, my first car it stuck closed one hot summer day. No temp gauge in that vehicle, but knew it was running hotter than normal cause it leaked out transmission fluid way fast thru the small seal leak. Had a GM part number and looked different than replacement thermostats that I could find, spring wasn't visible, so guessed it was the original. So, about 16 years. Then a few weeks later the thermostat on my mom's car stuck closed. That car was only 4 years old. And a couple years later the spring and moving center of my replacement thermostat broke out somehow.
