Space Ritual is one of Lemmys best performances. Listen to the bass on EVERY song. Awesome. Way up in the mix too.
the new re mix has the bass lower in the mix but still sounds great
Lemmy's cord playing during Brock's Solo is so great !! 🎶
@@acrookedbeat9013actually the bass is higher in the mix BUT properly EQed so you need decent equipment to hear actual bass frequencies. Listening to the new mix on good headphones is a revelation.
@@stevelitchfield for sure , been listening to space ritual 40 yrs and with the new mix i'm hearing stuff i've never heard before !
Lemmy is unique
Thanks for doing this really good! can you believe im 54 and only just discovered this album? better late than never! My neighbour saw them in Liverpool age 16, I was only 4...
Same
When I was 16 I travelled by the 'fast boat' (as we call it) from Stavanger to Bergen (4,5 hours) - and all of Hawkwind was on the same boat. This was in 1964 and I had been hypnotized by Hawkwind ever since I bought "In search of space" when it was released. I lokked much at Lemmy and he actually looked back at me, straight in the eyes and he smiled to me! I was standing so close that he tried to hand me the joint they were smoking outside, on the deck. This was in 1964 and I bumbed into Brock at one time, queing up for buying some soda (I was - Dave too, I suppose, we did not serve alcohol on boats - so he looked at me, too, and I smiled nervously and was going to say sorry or something, but words would not come. He gently patted me on my shoulder and life went on, but I had experienced something so dreamlike that I was smiling a month later. I did not go their concertsin neither Stavanger nor Bergen, but I had been close to them for 4,5 hours and that made it easier to not be allowed to go to such venues at my age by strict parents and little money for tickets and travelling, I was comforted by Space Ritual that to me is so incredibly good that there is no comparison. Deep Purple's "Made in Japan" is a hell of a record and I enjoy the Mark 2 crew a lot. But they had no ....interesting, otherworldy sounds like those created by Del Dettmar, DikMik (who had left the band by 1974 if I am not mistaken) - but Simon House's violin was a nice replacement, and of course Nic Turner made his sax and flutes and whatever go through guitar effect boxes to make sounds you will never hear again. I am a bit shocked by Dave Brock continuing the band with such dramatic different people doing the classical songs a bad service and the newer stuff just doesn't go to the heights of their first 5 years. Oh the memories!
Such a shame that there is so little video of the Space Ritual tour(s) but this is a great start. It was my first gig in Redruth in Cornwall as a15 year old. Mind blowing then and still is.
lucky man, amazing tour
Me too Joe, Leeds 1973 as a 16 year old. Never bettered that experience!
A great shame there isn't any film/ video of UA era Hawkwind
Ah, one of the absolute greatest live albums. When I got hold of Space Ritual in 1973 at the age of 13, my father forbade me from playing it anywhere within earshot of him. Happy Daze..!
твой Отец был прав! Мудрый человек.
Should make a film about Hawkwind like this with all past members traveling through space coming to earth with all the tracks
As a fan of fifty years, this is a wonderful tribute! The smallest details appear correct. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
This is the Hawkwind that I remember -- me hanging over the edge of the stage, Lemmy within touching distance, and Stacia dancing almost directly over me, with ultraviolet streaking of her hair, full psychedelic black light body paint (with iridescent red nipples), and wearing a one-inch wide dark leather belt, from which hung a pair of two-inch wide, three feet long leather straps, front and back -- and that was it! Hawkwind was my favorite band at that time, and I went to three of their concerts in the '70s (Robert Calvert was on stage for a bit at one of the shows) -- not bad for an American fan! In my dorm room I had a friend (that had worked as a sound room assistant in Chicago) set-up two studio monitors -- with appropriate amplification (which I would usually keep on MAX) -- I'm sure that my neighbors loved "Brainstorm" at 3AM, and "Born to Go" at 5AM (only once in 9 months did I get a complaint) -- they must have loved Hawkwind too!
Дебил.
I was waiting for the animated version of Stacia to step out of that dress, it never happened☹
Because of the policy of UA-cam which is a drag!
Pasties are a thing, silver star shaped even. --I like this mucho but characters seem too stiff.
Thats why youtube wouldn't host Urban Gorilla vid, she is full frontal on that.
Me Too!
Trippy girl with the great TUTS!! hahaha
This is absolutely terrific, very accurate to the actual experience given the right drugs
I remember going to that gig, how could you forget it. Liquid Len's light show added to the experience of Hawkwind's driving space beat to create a magic show I've never forgotten.
Hi I'm 53 I was 3 when this come out and tour i was 16 and we did magic mushrooms to the full LP wot an excellent experience ill never forget I would ov loved loved to have seen them this is the closest thing I'll get and it so real 👍
Yes, I was there too - it was absolutely mindblowing.
he's still out there, lives on a canal boat now. Len, Barney Bubbles, Moorcock, Calvert brought this theme to the fore, amazing
The flute and sax is Nik Turner bless him x
I did too absolutely amazing
Hawkwind and Gong defined Space Rock.... plenty followed them but these two acts are the truth.
PREACH!!🎉
Gong defined psychedelic rock, they were never in the same league as the hard/heavy rock of Hawkwind, but Daevid Allen was inventive and I like much of their music, but do mention Gong in the same sentence as Hawkwind is not right (to me, at least).
okey! this world needs full space ritual animation!
If only I could go back in time....
Funny and cool at the same time. IIRC the riff is Em (open), F5# (E string 2nd fret), G5 (E string 3rd fret) and the bridge is E5 (7th Fret, A string), D5 (5th fret A string). Always fun to play this.
This is so "Freak'n Great" !!!!!
Just like it would have looked with that Classic lineup and old gear, Circle Amps, Audio Generator etc, lighting just fantastic and with no real good concert video of this show. Thank you so much (Cherry Red) for taking the time to make this for us long time Hawkwind fans !!! 👍🎶🚀🎸🎹🎤🥁🎷🎛🎼🛸✌
Binson echoes?
@@pergotthardsson8304 The Audio Generator Hawkwind used in their Classic years is like the VCS3 that Pink Floyd used on "Dark Side of the Moon" and King Crimson used on their "Lizard & Island" albums
. But they could have used a Binson Echorec also I'm not sure and never seen anything from Hawkwind on it, maybe Dik Mik (Micheal Davies) could tell us Lol. I know Pink Floyd used them. 👍🎹🎶
@@pergotthardsson8304 They used at least two of them, I included them in the video. One is behind Brock and the other was used by Dettmar. It is in the stack to his left in front of him.
Excellent! Captured the essence of them perfectly
Hawkwind are simply awesome. I like psychedelic, and I also think the animation is original. The band reminds me of the times in the early 1990s when we had a Sixties Club on the Lower Rhine in Germany and I often danced to Hawkwind's music :-)
This is fantastic I've wished for a Space Ritual animated video for years Thanks!
Absolutely superb.
Sublime ! Fantastic 🤯🎶🎶🎶🎶🎸🎤
Wow… this animation is KILLER. It fits perfectly with the song and serves as a “reenactment”, if you will. Much like those civil war reenactments that you see in places like Geddysburg
I've waiting a long time to see the space ritual brilliant!
Thank you for this video!
Greetings from Hamburg Germany
Great work.. happy to see the yellow colorsound wah fuzz swell pedal as well.. I bought a reissue one of them from Macaris in the 90s .. could never make it sound like Brock though..
Lemmy was the power behind em in the day, had some fantastic times listening to space ritual
Great blast from the past! from a recovering dinosaur🤩.... Thank you....
Nice detail - particularly liked the WEM Copicat in front of DikMik!
This is one of the weirdest things I've seen on YT in a while but well done to Robert Godwin for what must have truly been a labour of love to produce.
OMG! A Hawkwind cover! One of 2 bands i love but nobody i met has ever met heard of them. Hawkwind and Sparks. Keep it up.
Wow...hats off to the creator!
fantastic band got hooked in early 70s
How does this not have millions of views.... hawkwind rule
We were at Liverpool Stadium for this..just wish it had been filmed.. at RAH tomorrow expecting to be blown away
We were born to go,
We're never turning back
We were born to go,
and leave a burning track
We were born to go,
and leave no star unturned
We were born to grow,
We were born to learn
We're breaking out of the shell,
We're breaking free
We're hatching our dreams into reality
We were born to blaze,
a new clear way through space
A way out of the maze,
that held the human race
We were born to go,
as far as we can fly
We were born to go,
to blow the human mind
We're breaking out of the shell,
We're breaking free
We're hatching our dreams into reality
@Cherry Red R... , Danke schön für dieses geniale musikalisches Zeit Zeugnis eine der angesagtesten & legendären Band HAWKWIND, großes Dankeschön nochmals für das Hochladen. Ich bin begeistert!
More like this would be brilliant
I really love Hawkwind! ❤️
Great work this is an amazing job for an almost perfect rendition of this classic...THX man
Always wondered what this concert might have looked like, when listening to this amazing live album. If only it was filmed!
Terrific animation.
Albert is going to love it...🎸🫅🎸🫅...
This is great, like people already said shame there is so little film of Hawkwind back then apart from Silver Machine and Urban Gorilla.
This is Hawkwind right at the top of their game. So very fortunate to have been at this gig and in my opinion only matched by the Roundhouse Greasy Truckers that I thankfully still have on original vinyl. This line-up was in my humble opinion the best of all with Del and Dik and all driven along by Simon King. When I hear young'uns talk about heavy metal then I remind them of this and Brainstorm!!!
So grateful for this. Wonderful! Please, please do the whole album
Watched this over and over, wondered what the dancers did. The one big problem here is we need the whole gig doing, its superb!
Lemmy, Dave & Simon would have been the Ultimate Power Trio. Lemmy's last show with Hawkwind was in Detroit at now torn down Ford Auditorium. WABX was a sponsor. Even back then Lemmy played Bass as a rhythm guitar. Lensmen did light show. Hawkwind changed my life back then. Every boy wanted Stacia. Most of my friends did not get Hawkwind, happy I did.
just awesome, thanks!
Excellent !
Loved this😊
Fucken great man!!! I was there...
Absolutely magic, the closest I've come to seeing the Space Ritual performed at the time.great video
wonderfull,thank you...takes me back
Ok, I'm f**king impressed....
Wow... Nostalgia.... I really liked it... especially that you put Stacia in there too....
This is amazing! I love it.
Great job, well done.
Totally amazing 💥💥😊
if i remember right, Hawkwind had two drummers on that tour, it was my first ever live gig, Wolverhampton civic, early January, never will forget it.
Second drummer, Alan Powell joined in June 1974, about 18 months after this gig.
I have the album on vinyl with the beautyful paper sleeve .
Amazing!
love it , a avatar hawkwind , great album , divine almost
Brilliant !! Just been to the Captain in Wolverhampton
it atleast gives you a sense of how great they must have been to experience live - what we all missed
Awesome
Astounding
Great job. How about an animated movie of the adventures of Spaceship Hawkwind's travels through the vastness of time and space?
Enjoy your Ritual Space Time.
A bit o ganga
A hit o acid
My Sears headphones,(made by KOSS)
I WORE THIS DBL ALBUM OUT a few times !
Lighting by Liquid Len and the Lensmen!
Magnificent.
Freaking awesome
This is just insane!
I luv it👽
Que increíble debió haber sido un concierto así: los amos del universo deleitándonos con su exquisito arte y nosotros abajo elevándonos con un poquito de acido y algo de mariguana 🙂😊😝✌✌✌🤘🤘🤘
Fucking brilliant ❤
I would never listen to this on acid...I don't think I'd ever be right afterwards. Acid is not necessary for this song to take your mind on a wild ride, just close your eyes and tune in.
Dropped my first acid at a hawkwind gig ,,, ive been free ever since 😂
They are
Saw the original Space Ritual tour in 71 at Lancaster University ......
Superb, the best live album ever. Just a little point, at around 9 minutes there is the honk of low flying geese, that is what Lemmy called Nik's sax playing, that is a sax not a flute he is playing at that point surely?
I did build and animate the model of him playing sax but didn't use it because I was pretty sure it was the flute all the way through this song, played through a wah pedal.
Soon on hologram!!!
Have all thier vinyl
Its my Religion to this Day
Take some acid turn off the lights and play hawkwind loud
TOP
I seriously doubt that Stacia was fully-clothed during this concert!
Time 2 go.
I always thought it was Robert Calvert doing the lead vocals on this, but it was Nik? Ok
Nik and Dave together. Credits were listed on the album cover.
So where is Lemmy’s Rickenbacker? He had stopped using the Hopf bass by the time of the Space Ritual tour - check the album cover art.
I explained all the decisions that were made in the making of this video in a letter to the band before I gave it to Cherry Red. That included why it was the Hopf rather than the Rick. It was a long letter so I won't bore you with the details, suffice to say it was a deliberate choice. Sorry about that.
Cute!
And Stacia dances !
It was December 1972 , not 1973 ( Sorry to be so picky ! )
....is that so...a CAPRICORN JIG...explains a lot .We were born to BLOW THE HUMAN MIND 🐐🦄🐐
Great night at the RAH
Drum kit is a bit OTT !
Stacia Blake is lovely !!!
Oh, yes! Avone think ´` bout Deutsch Nepal??
Wow have a smoke it's the closest ul get as proper hawkwind was hi from England stoned 👻
can we get an ai space ritual concert?
I figured someone would do it sooner than later. I didn't use any AI on this. I literally animated everything frame by frame which is why it took nearly six years. Mind you that included learning how to use the software. It was a ton of fun to do something like this while learning the process. I wish I'd had motion capture, it would have made the movements a lot cleaner, but it was going to cost me another $10K for the kit to do that, and then I'd need musicians to duplicate all the parts. Maybe someone else can pick up where I left off and do it better?
This is CGI (computer generated animation)
👍🤗🇸🇪
Waiting for Graham Chapman to come along and say stop that its too silly
There is no escape from Stasia
stacia clothed. we gonna report
No, you don't get to say that.
Lemmy ?
He's the bassist!
