I am now tea dying a pad of guest checks and my Huggie is looking at me funny. Your videos are so much fun and so educational. As a newbie I greatly appreciate it.
Gayle... THANK YOU SO MUCH.. For your time...!! You teach us so much, you have such a great sense of humor and the sweetest spirit!!! It's always such a joy to hang out with you. You instill the drive and curiosity in me to try new things...I 💝 when I see you have added a new video!!!! Keep up the creative love my friend!!!
Very pretty. I just watched Tina make these snippet rolls, so decided to catch yours too. Different artist put thier own spin on the same technique. All are beautiful. No two turn out the same. I love both of you and how different each one of yours are. I love the guest checks that you put these on. They are so precious. The paper dolls are really cute. I like the girl the best I see that I'm watching your 2018 video in late March of 2021, so this video was shown before the Covid 19 pandemic struck the world. Its been a whole year now and it's been a rough year !!! I'd love to join a workshop with other crafters !!! I'm thinking that before the pandemic Maymay of Maymay Made it Crafts held a workshop in Denver one year
I would love to see a video of you all crafting. What fun!! What a great way to get different ideas..... Thank you again for all you do and share. God Bless and have a great time!!!
Your retreat sounds awesome. I went to a watercolor retreat a couple of years ago in Colorado and the retreat experience is so fun. I would love a crafting retreat much more than watercolor. I watched the video from “Twins”. I changed it up a little by using tags. I mod podged flowers from napkins, added a foreign postage stamp, and used some neat cancellation stamps from different countries. Then I added the Tim Holtz paper dolls and a little lace. Some of the little girls in that collection look like they’re from other countries. They turned out really cute. I love yours! They turned out great.
Yes, yes, yes on the video from the retreat. Gayle, I love your videos so much! You are so warm and welcoming, I feel as if I'm sitting in your craft room, crafting, chatting, and having a good time!
Gayle, I am new to your channel, and just love watching you. You make me giggle with your stories, and, of course, your work is fabulous. You have inspired me to make glue and junk journals. I have been gathering tons of stuff, but still have good feet about diving in. Anyway, thanks again for all your ideas.
Love the snippets and the guest checks. They are so beautiful and such a wonderful use of extra stuff that would possibly get thrown away or stuck in drawers. Thank you.
😮💕😮💕 oh I’m so happy I came upon this one Gayle ... yahoo ! I absolutely love, love , love this ! I know I’m a newbie, however how could anyone get tired of all this loveliness.... how exciting 👏💕👏
Yes please, I would love to watch videos of all you ladies having lits of fun creating! You've so blessed to be able to experience and attend such an awesome retreat! By the way, Your snip roll turned out so pretty!
Those guest checks turned out so cute!! I never would of thought to put pink, lace and flowers with a little boy. You have inspired me to think outside the box with that one!! He turned out so cute. And yes it would be fun to see what goes on at your retreat, since I have never been to one. Thank you so much Gayle for sharing your talent with us. I have learned so much from you!!!
I just bought some of those guestchecks. So happy you did a tutorial on altering them. Thank you for that. Hope you have a wonderful time on your retreat.
Would love to see your time at the retreat. Found your channel recently and fell in love with the junk journals. I'm collecting stuff to start my first attempt at a junk journal. Picked up an old homes and garden sewing 5 ring book. And ordered things on Etsy. Thank you for all you do and share. Bless you.
Love your talent! Your creations are gorgeous! Thank you so very much for sharing and being an incredible teacher. I’ve recently been introduced to creating journals and have become quickly obsessed. Having to try everything I see....I’ve become quite eclectic and have adopted many junk journal techniques with art journal techniques and my mixed media creations have given me a new love for creating. Burying my head in My little studio closet my husband keeps saying, “ who are you talking to? And your spending a awful amount of time in that closet!” Lol! Thank you Gayle, your incredible!
Gayle, the retreat sounds like a great idea. I am definitely interested in watching some videos from the retreat. This sounds like a great idea, and I am happy for you and your friends.
Enjoyed this episode. Definitely want to see everything about your retreat. Shopping, tour, what each person's working on, meet the people video, and more!!! How exciting! You energize my creativity!
Gayle. I can't believe you are going to be in Anaconda MT! I have been going there to visit my best friend for years. They own the Washoe Theater! I live outside Guadalajara Mexico. Hubby and I retired a year ago. I would totally love to come to a retreat. I love your videos. Such a small world. Debbie
Crows Nest no way!!! I love it! My husband was born in Anaconda and lived there until he was 14. His Dad was a mason and helped build the stack. So amazing that anyone in my You Tube community even knows of Anaconda let alone has been there!! Thanks for sharing that info!! ❤️
Hi. Your retreat sounds like it's going to be fun. Not too many people get crafters, so it is great getting together with people who share the same interest. I too would love to be rich to have a week-long getaway of crafting and antique shopping with crafty friends. One day, one day. It doesn't cost anything to dream, right? Your snippets and guest checks are just too cute. Thanks for sharing!
Yes please video on the retreat, we want to see all the fun ya'll are having and all the projects ya'll are creating !!! Really enjoyed this one also !!!! TFS
Those snippets are glorious. I'll bet that was a ladies slip Gayle. I found some beautiful vintage slips a few months back. I kept a couple but three of them I have cut some beautiful lace from. One had the bra area covered in just amazing looking lace. They must have been high end slips. Nothing in the world is as much fun as a group of like minded women getting together for any reason. It would be so much fun to meet your crafty friends and see what you guys are working on. All of us who love to watch your videos will definitely tune in for that. Gosh, I love those guest checks! Again Gayle, thanks for sharing.
Aww Gayle... thank you so much for the shout out of our little #eclecticstashbusting monthly challenge :) Tomorrow we are uploading our new challenge and it's in your crafty alley... wink, wink! So in love with your snippets and guest checks! You are a great carfter and I wish you so much crafty luck with your retreats idea. I would love to get information about the venue you contracted. Plus if you ever decide to make another retreat I would love to get the information, so I can save and be a student :) Hugs, Irene
Hi Irene! The spot I'm holding my retreat is Anaconda, Montana. (Small town!). The place is called Scrapbook House. She has a Facebook page. I'm excited to see how this goes! ❤️
This is such a great way to use Your Guest Checks. They look so effective! I love the shabby chic papers too. You get such pretty papers over there. Those kids though :) So cute! Right before I watched this I was looking on Etsy & saw these kits where They gave You the back & front of each little kid on a collage sheet & You'd get another sheet then with all sets of wings to stick behind them so They look like Fairies but seeing this just goes to prove You can make Your own & these came out great!
Ms.Gayle you do Fabulous work!!! I love that you decide to have us tag along with the snip-its and the tags. My friend works at Smart N Final here in San Diego, and they sell those tags. I'm so happy that I saw this before he went to work. I'm so excited to get started. I went to Joanne's and bought some fabric, but I see in this snip it that you were also using crocheted boarder lace or something like that. I have something like that too. Thank you so much for all the ideas you share with us. And I'll be checking out the ladies you mentioned too. Can't wait to see the other tags too. Also in your retreat it would be fun to see what the do with their buttons and some dangles that are sometimes added to their journals. Have a wonderful Tuesday Ms.Gayle!!! ~Liz~
Gayle, this is an absolutely great idea!!! I have a book of Receipts that I thought I could use this technique on. I would need to put a piece of card stock in-between but it would be worth it to be able to have another use for them. All you ladies are so clever in how you keep coming up with new ideas to keep journal making more fun! I really want to be able to sew on my different tags, etc., but am intimidated by my sewing machine. I'm always impressed with the way you take the jamming of your bobbin in stride each time it messes up on you! I'm afraid my reaction would be more, "What do I do now???", staring at it in horror!😳😄 But the snippets look like so much fun to make that the thought of making them, too, is beginning to be a bigger draw than my fear of "The Sewing Machine"!!😂 So because of your example, I'm going to find a friend that sews and have her come and give me another "how to" lesson (I did sew on it awhile back - I just forgot the basics again) and get over this hurdle so I can have fun adding this other dimension to my journal making. Thank you for continuing to be such a great teacher!!
Back in 1998 a bunch of ladies I met online through scrapbooking all got together three years in a row. They were from all over the US and Canada and we had so much fun. We used the hotel convention room but I don’t remember if there was a charge or not since we had so many staying there.
That'd be amazing Gayle! Would love to see the Antiques store too. I'm obsessed with Antiques shops. They're so much better in America though lol It'd be really fun seeing You somewhere else with other crafters & see the place. We just don't get things like that here.
I have recently run across your channel the last couple weeks and have been binge watching. I am so interested in this junk journal retreat. It is too far for me, but a video would be awesome, to see what everyone is doing! I go to scrapbook retreats several times a year, have never really worked on my junk journals there (as I only get time to scrapbook during this time) - but I think the idea of a junk journal retreat is just fantastic! Oh and I love these snippet rolls. Do you have a tutorial or craft with me on how you begin? I haven't run across it yet if so. Would love to try these, but not sure how to start.
Melli, I start with a strip of fabric and just start layering on scraps of fabric and lace as shown in this video. When I get what I want layered on, I sew around the edges and sometimes a bit through the middle. ❤️
Yes, please let us in on your retreat, at least vicariously. Perhaps it could provide inspiration and encouragement to get other retreats going in many other places. I live in Ontario Canada, and would love to find others to craft with. Have a wonderful time!
I too would love to see your retreat videos. Then we could all join in on the fun even though we cannot make it to a retreat. love your snippets and your guest checks, where did you find the children you added to your guest checks?
Hi Darlene! Some of the children are Tim Holtz paper dolls. The little paper doll was an image I got years ago, don't remember where! I'm just always collecting cute images for us in the future! ❤️
I would love to see retreat videos. I wish I had friends to craft with. I have two friends I quilt with, but they don't papercraft. I watch utube videos for crafting company. You will have so much fun at your retreat.
Well, you're a big part of my crafting life, Linda! It's not every day one of my Little Golden Books finds its way to someone. It just needed to come live with you! I'm off to the post office tomorrow, so you'll be getting it soon!! Hugs to you, my friend! ❤️
You're definitely not weird you're refreshing. Very natural & spontaneous. That's what I love about your videos. Can you give me some more info about the "Junket". I have been wanting to go to a retreat but I would have to plan & save far far in advance. So maybe next year but I never hear about these until after the fact. Oops I almost forgot lol, Love the snippit rolls & really love the guest checks, I always struggle with those. I have a ton of them but shy away from using them. Thx honey.
The Old Bohemian Gypsy I just decided to organize a little retreat and called it Junk Journalers Junket and invited some other junk journalers in my area. I'm hoping this is the first of many. We'll see how it goes. Maybe others will be inspired to organize one in their area! Thanks so much for watching, my friend! ❤️
You started the snippet about half-way along...can you start it from the beginning? What was the base? And though I liked the last part on the guest checks I really like it when people have one topic per video...just sayin'!! Thanks so much! PatriciaD
Oh no! Now I have a song stuck on my brain: If I was a rich man, yubby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dibby dum.... Only those words, over and over again! Arrrghhh! I'm going to drive myself nuts now. Hahaha! Don't you just love it when that happens? Really nice video, so cozy to watch you craft. And you have such a pleasant voice to listen to. You sound so friendly and nice. Love from Denmark
Beautiful snippets, I just made a couple myself. Very fun.
I love that you give credit to others!👍 Beautiful work! I hope that you have a blessed day!!💞

Gayle what goes on the bottom? The base of your snippet? There so cool. Love them. Your an inspiration

Gayle what do you use for the base? Is it lace or material? What I mean the bottom strip
Nancy, the base is a strip of cotton fabric. Then I cover it with lace and then the snippets. ❤️
I'm watching you, while I'm doing paper work, not as fun as crafting, but fun to watch. Retreat sounds so fun!!!!! Hugs to you , Laurie
How do you use a snippet? Or is it just decorative? I’d love to see videos from your retreat.
Vickie Griffin I use Snippets for belly bands or decorative trim. Even a piece a couple inches long can embellish a pocket nicely! Hope that helps!
Eydna Mortensen love back from Montana, USA! I hope that song is out of your head by now!! 😘❤️
Yes,Yes,Yes. Do it. Can't wait.
