You saved me from buying a new ice maker. None of the other videos mentioned pushing the door switch. As soon as I did that the cycle started. Now it works. Thank you! Let me send you a 9v battery for that smoke detector. Lol

I got a new maker. Jumper does nothing even with Door switches pressed in either position.
      So no power I guess.
      Bad fuse maybe?
      Bad sensor?
      How to test those?

  • @davidgravatt8039

Great advise. I set up for the test cycle and I am waiting. Here is a tip. You can use your digital multimeter as a fused jumper if you set it for amps. Only thing….. Chang the battery in your smoke detector 😁

Excellent! Thanks for the straight-up explanation and footage of the operation and test procedures on this. You are about the only resource that actually sheds decent light and makes good sense! The whole Ice-Maker thing is pretty simple, once someone explains it. Most other resources don't mention anything about the freeze/temperature sensor, and how slowly the ice ejector turns, and most importantly how to trigger the testing of the ice ejector and the water-fill cycles. Now that I know how all that works, it's obvious how to determine what's actually wrong. Cudos my good man!

I’d like to thank you for this video. Your instructions literally saved me from buying a new ice maker that I thought was bad. I had watched another video that left out one very important step which was “pressing the door switch”. When I tested the ice module with the jumper it did nothing, so I was going buy a new one and then came across your video. Turns out I just needed to reset it due to a power outage. Thanks again!!!!!

Rock on man. This worked. My problem was our Motorhome ice maker. Just bought the RV and they pushed antifreeze through it all, well antifreeze wouldn’t freeze for some reason in the ice machine 🤪. So I could get it to move to the next cycle to get more fluid in to flush the line back out. Thanks man. Your a blessing

Thanks for posting. I replaced my main water valve on the bottom back. It was not cutting off, was filling the ice holder up. What I found is that when I took the cover off of the ice maker up top, it was caked with ice preventing the dial from turning. I got a long BBQ pit lighter and carefully melted the ice away....so I never got a chance to use my test wire jumper since it started cycling as soon as the ice was cleaned away. The arm went up and down, the tray filled now waiting for a test dump...Thx again for the video, the poor man ribeyes looked good too!!! I've tried those before!!!!

Thanks!! You saved my sanity. We had a serviceman come and replace the thermostat last week & have had no ice since. I think somehow(?) the gear was frozen stuck but the test cycle seems to have freed it up and I’m hoping that’s all it was. It didn’t spin @1st which confused me bc I’d poured water in the tray & it had produced ice last week, but then it started (maybe the heater coil got it freed up). Either way, this video is A+ 🌟

I followed the directions exactly as you said to make sure everything was working. OK, you did a great job. I waited then 24 hours and the refrigerator started to make ice again. I know that maybe the water line could have been frozen. So leaving the refrigerator off for await may have help. But because of your video I knew the ice machine was working.

Thank you for this. I had an issue where my ice maker was stopped halfway through a harvest cycle and it was just running water into the ice bucket and flooding the floor. I replaced my ice maker out of hand because it was getting limed up rather than trying to fix the one I had. After replacement the ice maker wouldn't move when the power was turned on. Nothing happened, no water and no cycle.I called Whirlpool and the tech support couldn't help me troubleshoot the problem. I asked if there was a way to force a cycle and she was clueless. She wanted me to call a repair man after spending $150 on a new maker. I said I would figure it out on my own. I started searching youtube and found you. The information allowed me to discover that in addition to a bad ice maker the coil on the valve had also opened. I assume it was because it was energized for over an hour before we discovered the flood.

@@appliancesifix7347 What the hell you doin' givin' out the Chuck Eye secret? lol. The reason why they're cheaper than Rib Eye's is because not as many people know about them, so there's less demand for them. I think they're actually better than Rib Eyes myself. Obviously I was just joking with you, but there is some truth to it. As more and more people find out about them, the price of them will keep going up until they match the price of Rib Eyes. They are very rare, as there are only two Chuck Eyes per animal, so it wouldn't take much publicity to cause them to become almost unobtainable.

Nice video! Thank you! Slight process step I'd like to add. After jumping T and H and seeing that the motor did not move, I was ready to order a new ice maker . . .BUT something told me not too. So I checked the valve and it was working fine. Finally I just looked inside the water tray and saw that the fingers were stuck on some ice that was built up. Using a knife, I freed up the ice, and lo and behold, the motor starting turning. Ice maker working just fine now.

Hi Appliance Fix: Great video. Is there a way to ensure/check that the water inlet valve is operational after determining that the icemaker and control module needs to be replaced? I found a broken plastic piece that the bail arm attaches to when I took the control module out. So at this point I will need to replace the control module or the complete icemaker. What would be your recommendation? I am hoping to avoid purchasing the water inlet valve if it is still good and supplying water to the icemaker. thank you

That "temp sensor" that you pointed out according to the manufacturer is a thermal fuse... The sensor (thermostat) is actually attached to the ice mold on the front hidden behind the controller/timing unit... according to the manufacturer... Note: I am not a repairman just a DIYer so I may be wrong. Other than that, Thank you. Great trouble shooting info!
