Mate I wish I saw this 5 years ago. Love your analogies and totally get it now. As a snow skier I’ve been hamstrung by front foot pressure. Your instruction is fantastic. Now bingeing everything on the channel immediately!👍
This series is very high level, I finally understand the theory of turning. I’m always tip the board over and blaming the board/wave. Guess my weight needs to be further back - will try
Been trimming turns for months and tipping the board over when trying to make more radical turns... this is the first video I've seen that explains the trim vs. carve and how they differ. Subbed.
Same for me, i´ve been trimming all this months and asking myself why i cant turn the board correctly and always tips over the board without knowing i was trimming and not carving
As a skater and snowboarder for 25+ years i now understand why i find cutbacks so difficult but trimming/ripping down the wave so easy! We don't dump our weight on our back foot to swing our boards around. I'll try this next time. Thank you!
I finally found what I need to adjust! I knew I was confused with which foot should I transfer my weight into when doing turn, but I‘m stuck when I tried a radical turn.. I thought the back foot was supposed to stay at the same spot, I get it I‘m still a kook hahah
This videos are fantastic thank you!! Could you explain when would you recommend angling down the line from take off versus going straight down the wave towards the beach and then doing a carving turn back up the wave? Also is this different from when pros take off into a barrel and often look like they are going down straight and immediately turning almost 90 degrees into the barrel? For these are they leaning into the rail with even weight or are they putting their weight on their back foot to do it? Thank you!
Going down straight and then relying on a carving turn is more technical, and can result in losing more speed and positioning than potentially gaining. So we generally recommend to always angle where possible as it puts you into the high point on the wave where there is more speed available, which then has a positive knock on effect to begin the wave with strong position and then opportunity for maneuvers.
