Ah, here we are, the mission that will make or break your preference to this game as a whole, regardless it it's unmodded or modded. Not even those uber hard expansion packs for Wing Commander I+II can compare. *And personally, after seeing this run and the completionist counterpart as of this point... I think XWA depends way too much on nostalgia goggles compared to TIE Fighter, though not as badly as X-Wing.* 0:13: Will hope to see those shown off after Endor. 0:49: Truly well deserved. - Afterwards, make sure they get covertly transferred to a more... proactive Rebel cell for an appropriate extrajudicial response. - Alright, just go to your all too important meetings, you senior. Nothin's stoppin' ya. 9:12: Doldrums. Such are the negative side effects of timelooping/"save scumming". Good to know that this mission involves sensible escape pod purging and also the resultant capturing of one, however. The debriefing partially brings into mind Caamas.
I tried the mission in vanilla XWA, and it was completely fine IMHO. 0:13: Didn't think of that before, but it's possible I'll do that, because why not 9:12: I'd say it's more of the side effect of a bug... I'll elaborate on this in the completionist playthrough
I always got the nagging feeling that this attack happened because of something the player character inadvertently leaked to Uncle Anton off-screen in some email...
Many of these Bothans are going to die bringing some information. ;-) I wonder what the devs were thinking story and design-wise. Obviously this situation should've warranted the Rebels scrambling all fighters to defend the Tal'cara and the Shuttle.
The devs sorely peaked on their passions with TIE Fighter. The sooner the SW gaming community gets a series of interviews with Totally Games' best and finest, the better, especially if they end up apologizing for XWA's incomplete rushjob status and also give the Upgrade modders some well heeded advice on what to add, remove, buff, and nerf as a whole.
Or, you know, the rebs and Bothans going "oh shi, hey, how about we bail and try again some time later. I got family over for the weekend, but can we try next week?"
This mission doesn't behave as it should be and it's extremely difficult. For the next version of XWAU I tweaked it to be bearable. You can download that version from here: forums.xwaupgrade.com/viewtopic.php?p=191822#p191822 Also, my playthrough with this linked version and every goal completed can be found here: ua-cam.com/video/xb6dfqjIj1Q/v-deo.html
I agree with you. This mission is difficult enough to pass it with too many tries. I believe it's too many Skiprays attacking at once. And why not have enough backup from the Liberty? Send some X-Wings for crying out loud Commander Zaletta! I don't mean to sound like this, but I've been frustrated of this level too many times to count.
"Admiral of the Feet commendation"
When it transitioned from attempt No.1 to No.45 you sounded dead inside Phoenix XD

Brings into mind fictional works like Groundhog Day, Madoka Magica, and Steins;Gate. Too many repeat playthroughs can make one become deader inside.
@@LPhoenix Oh, the outtakes video for this one is gonna be interesting lol
@@RevanNaut I'd call it more like painful...
I haven't got around to even start editing that video for some reason...
@@LPhoenix The trauma is the reason.
Wow 45 tries, I admire your determination Lp.
Thx, sometimes I also. Usually my GF does not :D

I have the same feeling
And I thought Harkov turning traitor was already the Un-Twist of all Un-Twists.

I'm on attempt 32 so far... Fuck this mission and the *entire* Rebel Alliance.

Tomorrow I'll explain exactly what's the issue with the mission ;)
And the issue will be all too similar to the last Battle of TIE Fighter's that got remedied on the TFTC Classic version, correct?
@@michaelandreipalon359 No, for a change this has nothing to do with the original developers.
It's been a while since you last posted.
Last week ;)
Let me guess, you don't get much notifications from this channel for some reason?
@@michaelandreipalon359 No.
That's just UA-cam... I don't have the power to fix it unfortunately
